I was kind of hoping it was just a test fitting of unfinished items.

Hey, the guy is putting a 20B into an FC basically for fun, so I think I can forgive him for being a shitty welder! All that can be cleaned up anyway.

but why put your shitty welds on display for the whole world to see? wouldn't make me want to have this guy work on his car. yes tig welding is more difficult then mig or stick, but if you can't make it look good for the car your customer are going to see, and decide if they want to have work done, hire a guy that can do it. or just hire a better welder.

at least they are being honest about it and showing all their work. this is a purely asthetic issue also. it's not like the car is going to get down the drag strip any faster with nice looking welds.

go pay a pro welder to do perfect aluminum welds, or even cast iron, and tell us how much that costs. if you want to pay that money you have that option to have it done somewhere else...

yeah lots of trash talk for 1000hp FC
I doubt your cars combined with nice and clean welds can output that much power.

well i'm at 240, cheers is at 190, not to mention he also has a 3rd rotor, lets compare apples to apples here, i think we are a few short. but, for a place that is called a machine shop, i would expect near, not perfect welds. and Feds if i had a tig welder i would bust it out, but i don't, and yes i know how. they could have made them look so much better by taking a soft wire wheel, and get rid of the oxydisation (sp).

aaron welding on cast iron isn't all that involved, preheat and post heat is basically essenstial to the weld looking and holding properly.

actually the excessive aluminum oxidation is from incorrect setting on the machine. I don't think the guy got teh AC balance right. That or he did not have the proper tip length/amount of sheilding gas.

i have not welded anything yet, so excuse me if i don't understand the details.
all i know is that it will cost more to get cast iron welded, just like aluminum will

I think out of everyone in the canadian forum you would be the last person to ever visit a shop instead of doing it yourself.
