People still race all the time every weekend, with the new laws they have more to loose and are more likely to Run from the cops rather than stop

I know, its just dumb though. i heard on the news about three chases this month all triangling out about and hour from where I live. Cops landed a chopper on the highway for one, one was caught and the other the cops let him go in fear of an accident and he still crashed head on into someone with no cops on his ***, killed himself and the other driver. He had his sister and her three friends in the car too, I dont recall hearing about everyone being killed but they were at least injured.

If we are writing it on this forum, theoretically, police can be reading everything we write right now. I know they are not likely covering all the forums, but im sure they have busted people after a KC event or other meet where people go and `race`after. I just dont need them to have another dumb reason to hassel me and some friends if we are having a meet somewhere. If people could keep it on the track, a lot less accidents and fatalities would occur. And if people stopped racing after a meet, then the police would be less likely to bother you at your meet.

It likely will never stop, until they obtain a new technology to catch you, via sattelite or whatever. Im just saying if it doesnt stop soon, then who knows where the crackdowns and the new laws will bring in the future. I imagine in the future they will be able to catch you speeding anytime they want, at will, all while behind a computer screen. They already nail you with photo radar, they are not far off. If there is no reason for the government to spend money to fund that kind of project, then it wont happen. But if people keep doing what they are doing then I am sure it wont be long till you start getting fined for going 5km over the limit. Ive been pulled over for 65km/h in a 60km/h once, one week after some kid crashed his done up civic on an industrial parkway, "racing". The crash was fatal. All im saying is our actions on the road now will determine what will happen in the future.

rant is done.

it's clear that all the absurd traffic/racing laws were put into place for profit rather than safety.
everyone knows street racing causes the least amount of traffic related accidents/deaths.

There is certainly a difference between racing and just being downright careless on the road. Regardless, I don't care much about people racing their own cars on a back road - do whatever you want - but when people are doing 160k + on the 401 and Don Valley with quite a bit of traffic and swerving in and out, cutting people off, and jumping 2-3 lanes at a time, no one can tell me that's not unsafe by any means. This kind of driving is what most of the news stories you hear about 'street racing' are actually talking about, not set up street drag racing.

Anyways, I thought, by the way the guy was describing this KC meet, people just meet and race or something.

there is a huge crazy big difference between the guys that race from stop light to stop light and Blow through a red light cause they are doing 200km/h and smoke a minivan and the crowds of people that gather at 2-3am in an industrial park of which every person that is there is Fully aware of the risks and what is going on there, I mean 2 weeks ago there were Very easily 150 cars and maybe 300 or so people at one spot watching races

Me and a couple of friends chill at a Tim Horten's parking lot in Mississauga. The 19 somethings were burning out their automatic corollas and mazda 3s, out of the parking lot. A friend of mine said they were probably heading "to the runs" at Woodbridge.

Laughed my *** of because I always viewed "the runs" as diarrhea.

If you have money to build a car, you have money to go to a track. Street racing is for posers.

Oh you'd think, but no. When I did the swap in my Mx-3, I couldn't wait to break in the clutch and the motor, do an oil change and head to Cayuga. I spend many Friday nights at the Test and Tune there, was so packed too. This was back in '03 when the original Fast and Furious craze was going on, and that car was fast for it's day back then. Great times. That was my obsession for a bit. Later once I got the suspension done, I got into SoloII autocross, did the events I could, but my new job had me work out of the country, but I did one event in Virginia when I could. Unfortunately I never could make it to a lapping day with that car. Almost did once, but got rained out....

Sadly, I couldn't get the Mx-3 guys to really follow. We did have several events at the Cayuga strip a few times in the earlier days, but not in the last almost several years. For Autocross, the interest was meek. Only 2 guys did a few events (one just had a stock RS with the 1.6 too), and another did only 1 and said he'd do it again later but never did.

Sadly, there was/are many Mx-3'ers that do up their cars, all craving and have done KL swaps into their Mx3s, but sadly, they have no interest in legit racing events, Autocross was cheap too, and in and around TO. I kinda understand Cayuga, it's quite the drive for those around the GTA, but for me in Niagara, it was less than a 40min drive. But it's sad, these "enthusiasts" have no real want or desire to truly enjoy their car.
