UPS whatever vs. Fedex Ground...anyone have any experience as to whether Fedex is any better in terms of customs duties, brokerage, etc?

i'm assuming UPS is worse, but who knows.

The item in question is an RB header.

 

I always thought that you should use USPS to save on custom/brokerage fees???

Used Fedex with no complaints (brokerage fees charged to the shipper, the way it should be). Purolator charged brokerage fees twice in addition to taxes. Never used USPS.

 

I was told that USPS was the best way to go as well. Lowest brokerage fees, but longest waiting time. I'm about to have shocks/struts, springs and sway bar shipped from CA. Unless somebody has something better to offer, I'm gonna go with USPS.

I like using Fedex. If you're using UPS, you might as well get it overnighted. They don't charge brokerage fees if it's overnighted so most times it ends up around the same cost as regular service + brokerage.

I've had a bad experience with shipping a lighweight flywheel with ups crazy brokerage fees, so between fedex and ups I'd go fedex. Still expect to pay your 15%taxes and another 15% brokerage fees, if it ends up being less or nothing at all you're happy if not then at least you're not surprised.

 

I won't deal with UPS after my "ordeal" with them..the shipping and tracking is great..but having to pay Again(basically what the product was worth) in fees ..they can Bite Me..No wonder the color of the truck is Brown..

 

Yup, USPS is great when you can use them - but they have a lot of restrictions on weight and size of packages. For example, even though a RB exhaust comes in two boxes, they are still too big for USPS to handle. That means that you have to go with someone else, or have UPS ship to a US address and then pick it up.

 

I always get a hot fedex girl when they ship it that way.





I dont even want to talk about the 300 pounds of UPS guy that knocks on my door.

 

UPS Air is much cheaper then UPS ground.. air is pre cleared so no brokerage fees and crap like that on this end.. iv'e found that it saves ~ $30 on a $200 item .. to go UPS air..

 

I just picked up a carbon fiber sunroof from DHL. Perfect condition the first time. With DHL the box wasn't even damaged, and didn't have to pay 40$ "brokerage fee" on top of the actual customs fee.

 

I just used FedEx express for shipping a new phone off eBay. Like honestly they leave this thing on your door, so I call them after 10 min of pressing 456345278593465 to get to the right place on there call system it says, its transferring me to a representative and then I hear "the customer you are calling is currently unavailable please hang up and try your call again later" I just about ******* lost it. All I wanted to do was go pick the package up at there center in Edmonton. 411 or the phone book only gave me there 1800number and they didn’t have the number for there pick up center in Edmonton on there web site just there address. ******* useless company you would figure they would try and make this easier for people so that they would have to send a truck out again to attempt another delivery.

 

It's up to the sender to check the "Signature Required" box. If they don't the driver can leave it on your doorstep. And if the sender marked it as a gift, or as having a value of $10 or something, the driver has no real reason not to leave it there.

When you get something shipped, always have the sender make sure that a signature is required for pickup.

 

i always ask the seller to ship using usps or fedex...just coz the bloody broker fees the ups charge is outragous...
i bought.... a $125usd item ups F*%$ charge me $60 on broker fees (and more ofcourse with taxes when i pick it up)

 

haha, so many people are pissed at shipping **** from the states.

anyways, i went with Fedex. www.rx7store.net sells RB headers and can ship with Fedex.
for some reason they don't sell the gasket though, so i had to buy that from RB directly, shipped via UPS. it's a $11 item, but just watch it get charged $20 brokerage.

well hopefully i don't get too bad a bill when the header comes in...

 

i HATE ups, If you dont get dinged by Customs, they get you with their "Brokerage Fee", and sometimes if your the lucky winner, you get both! and then the item you got is more expensive and you might as well buy it here, and get it faster, no paypal ****, and whatnot. Screw UPS, and the states for being bastards about us being "International" shipment crap.

 

It's not the US, it's us, it's our customs.

USPS.. if the item is too large then FedEx would be your second choice
