Vert Restoration 101!!! (heavy) - UPDATE 2014
I was going to but no one will ever go the extent i did to do it. It's way eaiser to just mod the rx8 rails and use them. The Rx8 seat brackets are offset about 4inches to the rx7 seat.
Umm to most ppl it will probably be very nice... but to the mad tyte bodykit, i need -85deg. of camber people probably not.it will be all stock body with a lip, almost identical to robs lol. Although im trying to make 500+HP on the engine thats on the stand, the engine in the crate should make the highest HP 2 rotor vert (that i know of) that has full interior + cage, on 93OCT.
Update
On the few nice days that we had i was able to get the whole bottom sandblasted and in primer. Now i have a dilema...i cannot get the paint off the engine bay. This is not a joke. Sand blaster @160psi will not budge it, many different kinds of paint stripper will not take it off, wire wheel will not take it off..next option is a little heat and a putty knife. The paint is fresh, not even 1 year old. I think im also going to try to hit it with paint stripper then blast it off and see if i get anywere. Im trying to avoid sanding it lol.
I took all 8 pistons out of my front brakes, im going to rebuild them. On both brake calipers the 2 inner pistons were near sized. There is no pitting on the pistons and the aluminum looks to be in good shape. Going to sand blast the brakes, polish them to mirrior shine on the polishing wheel.
I was trying to locate some NEW door skins/shells. they are N/A, kind of upsets me.
Pic's to come promptly

when youre blasting, be so careful to not build up a ton of heat, you will warp the **** out of the bulkhead. its all very thin metal.
i have seen dry ice blasting work VERY well on damn near impossible to get off things. might want to look into having someone try it out, just a thought.

Excuse me for the makeshift rear end (was already starting to put it back together and almost for got to take a pic) and the sand box
. Everythings in primer!!!!!!! Now i have to get all the sand out, re-caulk the underneith and Paint it! Engine bay will get paint when the car does. Thinks are starting to come together. From now on i am not going to take any more pictures with my POS phone. Real pictures will appear lol.

Im restoring the chassis to oem. The seats are custom kinda...there just Rx8 seats. Bodykits are pointless, im not a wannabe. This is a drag car though. It will have a cage and things of that nature.
Ya know rob i really dont have time atm. Space yes. I work full time, i am a full time student, and i train a few hours a day for these firefighter examinations. At this point in my life school is incredibly tuff, and when you work from sun up to sun down when its sunny (landscape) that don't give you much time to study for school. On top of that i have to run my workout course every morning for these fire exams coming up. The process has been much slower than i would like but theres nothing i can do about it. It's either make a living and barly get by w/ building cars or go get educated and make real money. I sacrafice sleep alot. Last night i was prepping the engine for the build till 3am. had to be up at 6:15am this morning. My daily driver 91civic hatch has seen better days (totalled twice never reapired it lol). It runs good of course but i want a nice car again. My secret baby is a mint 90civic hatch SI, that i bought of the original owner. I want to drive it bad. it needs painted thats all. It's already been threw this whole process the 7 is going threw. So im on the fence of not putting any more money into the vert and getting the SI road worthy...All in all i want to drive my damn drop top, its almost summer, and i am not missing DGRR next year. It will be going come hell or high water! I never been to DGRR b/c i never had a car ready for it. its so early in the year.
After meeting this guy and seeing the work that he has put into his car I have gotten extremely motivated. Never seen anything like it. Keep up the good work bro!!! I'll have to come over and give you a hand with this beast!

Based on your thread title, it doesn't get any heavier than this! You'll get there eventually. A project this thorough will always take longer than you think it will or want it to.
It's looking good.

Thanks, I expected it to take 3-4yrs. Its actually moving a little bit faster than i had in mind believe it or not hahaha. I can work on it this summer on Fridays after 3pm and saturdays witch is alot better than once a month. after this week the bottom should be pretty close to being complete. Finish blasting and laying light coat of color, caulk all the seams, spray some chip gaurd, final paint/clear process.
Nice work man.
There are some nice pictures between were you can see what is hidden behind the outside panels.
Also gives me a good idea about what kind of work is waiting for me lol.
Keep up the good work!
