This one is a bit beat and has 175k miles. I bought it to part it out and now my brother wants me to help him put it together as his first car. I told him he's got till friday to make up his mind.
Either way I'll be taking the S4 T2 mirrors for myself as well as the LSD for my turbo car. Now I can REALLY shred those NA transmissions!

Seeing your reddit post made me remember to check back on this thread!
I think it's a feat not many have achieved, but since it was an NA, I couldn't brag about it.
With that many miles, that motor was very well worn. In the end, it smoke screeened the neighborhood for the first 30 seconds after start up (oil control rings?) and it drank about a gallon of coolant per tank (actually water, I was too cheap to buy coolant).
Nice find! I tried getting my brother into an FC as his first car too. The question that made me steer him another direction: If you get the car sorted out for him, who's going to be the one to fix it when it's down?

So it's back to being parted out.

The driveshaft in the new car had a bad u joint. I stole the shaft from my turbo car for now since that wont be moving for a while. No more vibrations. Hooray. Still gotta get the rear wiper going. I purchased a desolderng wick to attempt to change the relay...
Not much left to fix. Still gotta do a compression test on it.

Dont remind me...I still need a flywheel clutch and driveshaft. I'm not in a rush. If I get lucky this winter the car should be track ready in teh spring...but it depends on whether or not we go snowboarding a bunch this season.

Let me know! I'm still slowly accumulating T2 parts. Still need a starter, driveshaft and flywheel/clutch setup...I think I want to pull the NA LSD out of the gold car and put it in mine. It really hampered my ability at the track since the inside tire would start to spin and I had no way to make the car rotate coming out of corners.
This weekend we accomplished some small stuff. The daily drivers are now prepped for winter. oil changed, waxed up, tires rotated etc. Also I washed/waxed the Tornado Silver GXL for the first time. Im curious if the paint failed due to the lack of wax, or it failed and then it stopped getting cared for :P
My turbo car has been prepped for storage for the winter. Just need to air up the tires and pull out the battery. If I get adventurous I'll work on the FFE trigger kit + Mustang TPS this winter. Got a mean exhaust leak as well as the electrical fan that needs situated.
There is SOOOO much to do and no day light left after the work day which has been making things very difficult. Not to mention this whole home ownership thing...

Not yet. The house was built in the late 1920s...They had a suspended power wire running out for a light to illuminate the driveway, but I took that down since it was beat up and under a tree. Big hazard...
The plan is to run power out there underground, Get lights and garage door openers and IF I'm lucky and my dad comes across a viable a/c and heatpump system that he's replacing, It'll get put that in there. The divider in the middle really makes it difficult and currently with my toolbox and a storage rack in there, the car is as far in as I can get it, and it leaves me about 6 inches from the garage door.
It'll get done up soon enough

Some of you may recall the 13bt I picked up a couple months ago. I finally got around to cleaning up the parts and some of it wasnt too pretty.... irons were toast. Housings were good, Rotors are questionable....please let me know what you think about the rotors and whether or not I should machine the face down or just replace it.

wow those rotors look awful. Im not sure whether machining them will save them or not but personally i would buy a known good set and be done with it. As for the housings they cleaned up nicely but it looks like theres some scoring around the edges, might just be the pictures though. What did you use to clean them if you dont mind me asking? they look to be OK otherwise. Watch for chrome flaking near the compression side of the housing, flaking around the exhaust isnt as crucial
im sure some more experienced members will chime in but when it comes to rebuilds cutting corners will come back to haunt you. It really depends on if you expect to pull the engine again at some point sooner rather than later or not

It looks like something got in there and banged against the faces of the rotors, hard saying if they can be fixed, you coukd probably buy known good used rotors though cheaper than having them machined

I think they will be traded to a friend who needs the one and wants teh other for decoration in trade for a pair of S4 NA rotors. The high compression should help the late spool on my clipped hybrid that will go in the GXL when this motor goes in. I STILL have not done a compression test. I really need to stop being lazy. Maybe this weekend? Who knows.

Finally....... the compression test...engine is in good shape. Is it possible this thing is all original???? 221k miles and it was 110-104-106 and 108 103 107 @ 240 RPM. Can someone post a link to the factory FC compression test "range"?

Iduley - My wife and I are a little upset....I guess we wont be turboing this car anytime soon!! HAHA
Tony - rotors were from the 4 port turbo engine. It makes sense since he said he powerwashed the engine block. It's a shame...but at least there was some usable parts from it.
Jesse - Model ReCT

Just gotta get the darn thing to pass emissions. Wife and I agreed we are gonna put it away for the winter anyway. Cant wait for spring so we can get it painted! Also luckily came across someone who is willing to trade Tokico blues and a set of eibach springs (same on the turbo car) for a laptop that I have. The laptop was free, so technically this exchange will only cost shipping
