NJGB '87 TII - Summer 2011 Random Mods

Just figured I'd make another thread to keep track of the various repairs and mods done this summer. Car has been great with the current setup, looking to clean up a few loose ends and get back on the road for the fall.

Replaced the drivers side spindle and ball joint.

Removed the OMP

Threads were stripped on the front cover, had to drill and tap them.

Thanks guys. Dying the seats was okay, not very hard by any means you just have to take your time to make them come out even.

I had the stock radiator rigged up in my v-mount setup just to see if it would work. It did work but temps would rise after sustained boost and eventually the seams started to leak. I got this nice aluminum radiator but the top pipe still needs to be modified a bit. I'm debating whether to relocate the battery or not. Also considering how to mount the Oil Cooler, might get some longer lines made and move it more forward of the round crossmember.

Reworking some exhaust. Car came with some ebay N1 fart cans that needed to go away and I happened across these Tsudo mufflers for a good price. Also decided to add a flex pipe and V-band coupler since the shop that added my cat decided to weld it straight to the DP!?!? One piece exhuast isn't the easiest to remove on these cars so this should make it easier to service.

First time using V bands but seemed to come out okay.

Catback section with new mufflers welded on.

Tacking the V band flange to the Flex pipe

Anybody know why a weld would crack like this?

V-band and flex welded into exhaust pipe

Whole exhaust, RB DP, magnaflow cat, tsudo mufflers.

Still finishing up some changes in the intercooler pipes and radiator hoses. Hope to have it back on the road by next weekend.

Love it! Our setups are very similar. I ended up moving my oil cooler to the location you're talking about. It happened to line up just right, so it looks like a small FMIC behind the bumper. LOL. So far, no issues whatsoever.

How do you like the Tsudo mufflers? I have a Magnaflow resonator and thought about the Tsudos but wanted to know how they sound. Any chance of a video clip?

Weld cracked probably because it's much to cold, looks like it will leak like a biatch to.
Kinda looks like your flexpipe is SS and your exhaust is mild steel?
