PA My Rotary Journey

It all started with a craigslist post from NJ with a guy selling an 88T2 for $1000 with 95k on the engine and body. It didn't run due to some flooding issue he was trying to fix but never got to it. It was sitting in his mother's garage for 3yrs. So I called him, even though I didn't have any money, due to fact that I spend $600 on a POS NA RX7 that didn't run and I was planning to do the T2 swap on it. So we started talking and after 20mins or so and I wasn't going anywhere with the conversation, I got desperate and asked "Are you willing to trade?" he said "Sure what you got?" I said "I don't know why I even asked that, because I have nothing to trade. All I have is an xbox 360 with a few games and a steering wheel" he said "Ok I guess is better then nothing" I was shocked! I asked again, "You are willing to trade the RX for my xbox?" He said yea and told me that if he doesn't get rid of it by the end of the week his mother was going to take it to the junk yard. So he wanted to get at least something out of the deal. So I came home this this. It sat for about a year before I did anything to it, I was just happy that I got a Turbo2!

All the engine pieces was in the trunk.

Instead of trying to fix this engine I just bought a JDM engine and had it put in, also around this time I got Apexi muffler and 89-92 taillights.

Then I took it to the track, first time ever doing a 1/4 and guess what I raced against?

Look at me, like a little kid in x-mas morning

It was a great day. Also got to see this that day.

A few months passed and I got an stock ecu with an Rtek chip now I can tune.
I can't find the picture but I got 224whp

After the dyno I got the bad news :awman:

Around this time I bought a house with a 2 garage and was able to get some work done.

The housing where still good but wanted something in better shape.

Clean Rotors

Now it's time for some port and polish. Don't sweat my knots making skillz.

Before (secondary side housing)

After (secondary side housing)

These are the primary side house just an idea of the size differences in porting

Don't have a before picture of the exhaust port, but it's a big differences.

I bought some excellent condition housing and had them powder coated.

Bridge porting was a little to advance for me to do. I know before you say anything I know it’s not a full BP. Dave at speedone said I would only lose only 5whp with this port and also I think when I was porting I took too much metal and the bridge would off been too thin. Plus I needed to have the idle that I love so much.

The rebuild kit, paid extra for the heat treated super seals and the 6 puck sprung act clutch

Now lets put everything together

This was a pain in the ***

Finally in

I took the car to my rotary guy to make sure I did everything right and had him install my front mount inter cooler. I took it home and was enjoying my new idle.

A short time after that, I bought some used Koni with RSR spring, front fender, some wheels and bigger secondary injectors. And back the dyno and get tune. Notice how they engine doesn't blow smoke on WOT like on the old engine. My mechanic said I build a solid engine and did a great job on it. Was happy to hear that.

263whp/245torque at 10psi

Now for good times.

It's track time again.

Best I ever got was 13.4

First ever AutoX this is a lot harder without power steering..lol

I went to the 1/4 track a few time after that, and the last time I went which was sometime in Sept or Nov something came loose and couldn't boost pass 5psi.

Last year I wasn't out at all my wife gave birth to twins (boy and a girl) so didn't have free time at all between work and a new family.

So this winter I got 4 1000cc injector, fuel pressure regulator and some SS fuel line and installed them. At the end of this month this turbo is getting installed and tuned
T04e 60 trim with 1.15a/r hotside.

Can't wait for April I'm hoping to get 350whp with this setup. The only thing that's holding me back is my ecu, 1000cc injectors is the max it can handle.

To be continued.

I got the wheels powder and installed some ground control for the koni. This is how it looks like now.

If I get the 350whp, I'm going to focus on the interior and exterior. Need to make it prettier.

Another person gets a steal! I truly truly hate myself for paying $4,300 5 years ago 23 and stupid!

I like the orange/copper color on the wheels and engine.

forgot to post what I've been doing. So I copy and past from the other forum site.

It's time for a little update on my end. Well got some good news and bad news. The turbo (T04E) that I got a few years ago was a POS, I got ripped off. ($300) Got everything installed, manifold, injectors ect. and the turbo started to leak oil right away. When I got the turbo it was supposed to be a freshly rebuild turbo, and it was. The problem was it was an ebay knock off turbo that got rebuild with garrett internal. After calling around for turbo rebuild service, I found out that it's never going to seal because it's a Chinese knock off and poor manufacturing. So what's left to do? Get a real turbo.

I wanted to get a T04R (aka T67) great turbo for the rotary. But for me to run this turbo,I needed to upgrade my ecu and injectors.
Out with the old

In with the new

Just when I was going to buy the T04R with a 1.15ar I asked the rotary performance shop if there's another turbo for the about the same price and that would be better then the t04R. He said yea and it's cheaper.

So I got this bad boy.
bw s366

Test fit. Like a glove.

Pair of bosh 2200cc with 11mm adapter to fit my stock rails and clips.
Today I did my throttle body mod.
The purpose of this mod is to, remove coolant flowing through the throttle body and keep intake charge as cool as possible. Also removing double-throttle plates to increase air flow through the throttle body, especially at high RPM's.

Before

After

Finished my injectors harness a few days ago. Glad I decided to make this harness this way, didn't have to solder in the engine bay. 550cc injectors for primary(red) and 2200cc for secondary

She lives!!!!! I just need to do some timing now. But I just wanted to hear her. It's been such a long time. It sounded shitty in this vid because I forgot to plug in one of the leading spark plugs
