I've always love rod millens FC rally car but I've never seen a photo like that! it looks like he uses a solid rear out of a 1st gen in that photo?

I'd want to be able to do an AWD conversion on it within 20 years, but if I do that, its getting a 3 rotor as well...

its a b2600R trans out of the truck which makes it 4wd correct? is that were the front axle is from too?

i think the whole running gear is out of the 4wd truck. axle and all. makes it super easy to swap in though. figure out some mounting points, a bell housing adaptation and driveshaft and its ready to rock.

I would rather keep the turbo rear end and just have a custom driveshaft made so I can keep the IRS.

just curious but does anyone know where to get this bellhousing adapter and what kind of clutch do you use the truck clutch? rx clutch? some crazy mix of both?

you need to have a bell housing adapter machined for what ever transfercase you wanted to use. also probably use the stock t2 fly, bell housing and clutch. then you need a drive shaft to hook the truck trans to the turbo diff and figure out how to mount the front axles and modify hubs. sounds like too much work to me but good luck.

i like it so far

yeah it would be a lot of work so I don't plan on even attempting that for many years, if ever.

I'm sticking with my aluminum t2 flywheel.

I've thought about rapping my audi A4 for the front suspension, axles/hubs and trans stuff...

if **** is gonna need to be fabbed then well, its gonna need to be fabbed.

Because that appears to be the 1st-gen's drivetrain. The hillclimb FC that I've seen had something entirely different in the rear. Wasn't solid axle, wasn't swingarm. Kind of a multilink thing.

Then again, he had more than one hillclimb car...

its a b2600R trans out of the truck which makes it 4wd correct? is that were the front axle is from too?
No. B2600s used a ribcase like a Turbo II, that trans looks like a regular N/A smoothcase (what the MFR gearboxes were based on) that has had a front output grafted on. Plus, the trucks had the driveshaft on the right side, not the left.

Further reflection - I wonder what the Sierra XR4x4 / Escort Cosworth transmission looks like from above? That output sticking down looks a LOT like the Ford parts.

**** just got reeeeel

Picked up new gravel tires and wheels (pics to come later)

rhino lined the interior

Just finished re doing the engine bay, stripped and gutted. Just finishing the rewiring this week.
perma sleepy eye setup to come next week, no more bulky motors and pop up system.

Folded aluminum dash and AL door panels in the near future, before the end of August.

until then, I am bored at work:
