ID I will never give up!!!!!

I have been build build my RX7 for a while now i got the car when i was 17 i have had to ask myself many time "is it worth it to continue" and the answer has always been yes!!
my car has taken some time and well ill let my pics do the rest of the explaining for me.

this is the first night i got my rx7 on the trailer 5 different colors dents and all.

Damage on the door looks like some crazy person bit the door

After some body work got it in primer starting to look better. notice no front bumper bit that not it yet.

this is the base coat dull and boring!

then came the clear coat and we started to look good

i let the paint dry and fitted my intercooler still no front bumper

so at this point i got board and started to work on the engine i found out i had bad irons so i got those replaced and did a large street port with ALS seals

got all my fuel system setup aeromotive all earls hose and fittings 2300 Secondaries

fitted a turbo but this stuck out way to far so a got a garret T67

So then the motor went in the car with the right turbo and the wiring of the haltech E6K started.

Intercooler Piping started going in with the gready RS BOV.

then installed the Koyo Rad this think is worth its weight in Gold!!! Never got hot.

ID more pics

so now here is the wheels on the car and it slammed to the ground

I love this pic it my favorite.
Different angle.
I got creative here and recessed some LED lights into my Flash to pass lights i love this they are way bright.
the door james were faded red so i painted them to match i did all my own paint in our shop. I spent hours on this car.
This isn't where my story ends though. my car looks so sweet in this pic.
I invested some money and did stainless steal break lines with Bare brakes. cross drilled and slotted.
then it was time to install the methanol KIT 2x 15GPH squirters. with a 2.5 gallon tank

i covered up the idiot cluster i have a gauge for about everything in this car but this isn't the final pic yet.

ID The Worst part of my story thus far!!!!

So after all this work it was time to take it to the track and get it tuned. Im working with the HALTECH E6K system. I'm going to be going to the new sport 2000 or platinum what ever they call the big one now. we started tuning the car at 25LBS of boost on a built motor. i went through 2 rear irons from detonating at the track. so the third time is the charm i got it right. But right as we started the last stage of tuning we were cruzin the freeways racing cars we raced a brand new 2011 Z06 vette and wasted it it was funny to see the owner of a vet's face drop when he found out he got smoked by a 1.3 liter rotary.
So after the race we found a lean spot right in the beginning of the spool up so we fixed this. Well this is where my story gets sad, i wanted to do one last pull in my baby before heady back home. So i dropped a gear and gave her hell and it was amazing. Intill i heard a pop of an intercooler pipe (we found this out after the fact) and i slowed down all of the sudden i see a trail of smoke so i thought oil cooler line, as i slowed the smoke got really heavy. Before i came to a stop i heard a loud BANG and a blast of fire popped my hood open, then the worst happened my car caught fire and it wasn't good at 25lbs of boost i blue a hole in a cuppler and the heat from the turbo got my meth line pliable enough and it popped out of the intake under boost and then let my car up the switch stayed in the on position because the fire melted it like that. i had a batter kill switch because my batt is in the back of the car. we started to pelt the car with dirt until the fire dept. showed up. THEY DID A GOOD JOB THANKS GUYS THEY CAREFULLY MISTED MY SEATS TO KEEP THEM SAFE AND GOT THE FIRE OUT AFTER A WHILE. So now is where i say is it time to Give up NO NO NO NO I WILL NOT!!!!!!!!!

SEEING THESE HURT GUYS!!!! hahahah o well time heals all wounds (in this case money!!!
her is some damage
i have already started fixing her again i will not give up what do you guys think is it worth it ill take pics of the newest progress so far I've put the car on the back burner for a while so i could gather some case but i did get all new black dash and intire interior ill get pics soon.

Damn, was coming along great too. Makes me second guess putting in my meth kit, although I'll probably just run water and tune with out it.
Good luck

Maybe something is just wrong with the meth setup, I have seen plenty of street driven meth/water injection engines that get through just fine.

bad

Ya IM not Giving up on her but I'm doing away with the meth i managed to lock down a 50th anniversary edition black interior and dash so I'm going that route. but the meth kit has cost me 2 motors and now three but this time it was working we figured it out and this time i broke the motor because i made over 550 hp to the ground because the torque cracked the front Iron.

Front Iron prob cracked because of detonatin at that boost level. I cracked a rear one because of it 2 seasons ago.

One suggestion since she will need an overhaul; I would change to a v-mount or h-mount setup, way better than the big wall of intercooler. I had major probs at the track with oil temps. Blew a turbo that way. Coolant was not very good either even with a koyo. Unless you plan on making a duct to the oil cooler some how under or around the IC. Anyway just a thought.

Car looks prestine and the airbrush looks good too

Here are some pics of what im working on this winter.

can switch to E85 or switch to 49/51 injection, less than 50% methanol and 51% or more of water the mixture becomes non combustible and will not catch fire if you catch a leak. also another reason i'm not too fond of pre-turbo injection. i have never had such issues and have installed a number of kits.

anyways, keep at it.

and straight alcohol auxiliary injection will not really support 25psi+ for long if at all. straight water actually will with pump gas. E85 can be done non sumped with an upgraded supply line and even a single pump as there are new high flowing pumps out there that should push close to 500whp on E85 with a single pump setup.

almost looks like you lost another rear iron in the picture with the trail of oil behind the car. that's just too much for that setup.

E85 alone is good for about 30psi before you have to worry again about getting close to knock threshholds but getting enough fuel through the system is a little more tricky than pump gas.

but it's good to see people with perseverence these days, so many people give up easily. trial and error are sometimes your friend no matter how painful it may be, in the end the satisfaction is worth it. i have had plenty of problem cars in the shop and i can't merely push them out and give up.
