And yeah, it is.. I seem to be away from everyone :\ But you should make a trip down for the World Time Attack in Sydney in October
Sparco seats feel so nice in the small cab of the FC! I sit in my wifes Recaro and it's super comfy, sit in my car and it's time to race!

Maatteeee, felt like yesterday I was down there for filming 2017! I'll be doing a BBQ at mine this year watching the live stream but 2019 we are making the trip again! Such an awesome event, I was blown away trying to capture everything in a day was near impossible. If you ever sign up to compete, let me know, I'll make the trip to run pit crew for you and grab some footage.

Ha, oh mate - next year WTAC 2019 I plan to be there in clubsprint class!! so more than happy for you to come for photos or vids! having that the old girl stays together! LOL

Soooo some mega changes to my plans... for the next for months anyways. It seems to be impossible at the moment to find the seats I want, or they are a 8 week wait... I planned on the car being in the shop getting a cage done and seats bolted in, in 3 weeks time.. None of that is going to happen now, just due to the poor availability of the seats i want, and i am not going to settle for the second best.. They need to be what I want.
So the main goal is to get rego/engineering mod plate, so I will borrow my mates dirty brown seats. I will get stuck into the wiring tomorrow, and hopefully in a week or twos time she will be ready to turn key! Once that happens it will be off to get the exhaust done, then a rego tune and Engineering report in 3 weeks instead of it planing on being mid October. Once that is done, come Oct now it will have a full race tune on 23psi (hoping for 600hp) instead of it being Dec.

I will then have basically 12 months to get the half cage installed and the car ready for WTAC. So in the coming weeks, watch this space!

Sneaky GTX35 shot! Boy I cannot wait to get this thing under boost!

Oil feed done with a 1mm restrictor installed. VS my old one..

Pretty much all the wiring to the Engine is now done. The injectors, water, TPS, CAS are all done. So the main loom has been finished! Just need to do the AIT and the Oil Temp.

Excuse the mess! Stuff everywhere!!!!

Battery box has been moved AGAIN to a lower center of gravity and in a better spot altogether in the rear seat bin arch. I need to take a photo of what I have done inside, I have mounted a 300amp fuse (just in case for shorts) to the lid of the box all run neatly.

Both pumps now have a wiring harness, fuel level sensor wire and earth...

I had to drop everything and pack up for dinner, I couldn't finish the wiring of the pumps which I wanted to do today.. However I have made a aluminium cut out to fit two relays, and two fuse holders to sit on it mounted to the left rear in the boot. I will take a photo of when Im done which hopefully I will get back in there tomorrow to do.

She is booked in to get the exhaust done next Friday, So i really need to pull my finger out and get the car to a point where I can test the fuel pumps, test the fuel system = check for leaks (means filling it with fuel) test the fuel level sensor, Prime the car and test the oil pressure and make sure there is no oil leaks from the Turbo, and wire up the Ignition coils.. Once I have done that, only then can I turn and turn key. I really need to get it to start so I can get it out of the basement.. It will be almost impossible to push or tow just due to bad angles!

I now have all fluid ready to go!

Uniglide will be for the gearbox and engine.

Fuel pump relay setup

Everything plugged in and done! A little messy to what I was expecting but so many wires..

One relay and fuse for each pump. Power wires from battery to fuse, to fuse holder, then to pumps are all 25amps.

I guess in the end I am pretty happy with the result. More happy that I can now bloody move on!

Means the Ignition coils are next to wire up!

Once that is done, I will need to wire up the oil temp sensor, and need to have a look behind the cluster to check a few things.. Then all I need to do is connect all the CanHub for the Microtech and then she is ready for fluid!
I am really hoping to get some fuel into the tank this weekend and get some testing done (fuel leaks, pressure, gauges etc) before the start up hopefully next Thursday.

Well she has seats again!!! haha.. These are only on borrow from a good friend of mine until I find the right seat.. Rego first!

haha they looks so rubbish in there, but its only for a shortish time anyways!

On another note, I spent about 3.5 hrs wiring my GTR coil packs, only to make a bloody mistake in the loom making!!!!
The way I wired it was meant to be 2 looms, one for the front rotor, with leading and trailing, and another loom for the rear rotor.. Only to start cutting and fitting the front rotor housing to realize I did it WRONG!!!! I had leading in the same bloody loom.. meaning it feeds the front and rear rotors... ugh... to save me having to pull it all apart and do it again (even though i couldnt undo as i have fully already terminated the leading coil), I just went for second best.. It still works and looks OK, just not 100% the way I wanted it.. I didn't take a photo because i was that bloody peeved off at it! anyways... It has power, earth (on rear rotor) and trigger now!!

The only things left to do now in the wiring part is. 1. Battery power for Microtech. 2. Relay setup for the fan. 3. Run Sensor earth from MT dash to Oil Temp Fluid Sensor. 4. Terminate the AIT and......... that is pretty much it!!!

Well now I am starting to run out of things to do!!!

I fixed up my coil wiring a little, and looks much better. Pretty happy with the end result.

So pretty much finished the wiring on the Microtech..
Power for Microtech and power for the fan relay, and setup that up. Ran Sensor earth from MT dash to Oil Temp Fluid Sensor. I am still waiting on the fluid sensor itself...
I deiced to have the ECU and Fan fuses and relay in the air dam part.. It will have a cover when its done.. Just need to get the Intercooler mount underneath the top side and should be fine!

Tidy up bits and pieces but very close now!

I have to figure out how to connect the main ECU to the CanHub that connects to all the others bits like, X3 EGT box, Dash and AFRs.

Once done that still need to do the AIT, fluid oil temp sensor, change all fluids in the car..

I was hoping this week it would be ready to start, but just to be safe I am going to push it back to next week. I want to triple check a few things.. So its on hold for this week at least!

So Close Mate! One last push for turn key We've got a long weekend coming up soon too

Your relays are super neat under the air deflector... I might have to steal/mimic your bracket setup

Thanks mate!

here is a video of the it running! had to take out 48% mixtrim overall just for it to start and idle..

And shes off to the exhaust shop..

Some minor issue, where they didn't have the vband ring for the exhaust which I needed to order and will not arrived until Monday.
Intercooler piping is going to be redone in aluminum.

She will have a full rego (besides the 3.5" race dump) and basically cat back will be rego.. needs to be below 90db @ 4500rpm...

So having this hopefully will be on the dyno for a tune (rego tune not power tune)

On the hoist! She is almost done!

3.5 inch dump, they have already painted and heat wrapped it for me! Put a second bung in it for me as well for the final tune...
So from the dump back is the rego exhaust... a shitty cat, hotdog and a tri-flow muffler so it will be really quiet! The only thing left to do on the exhaust was doing the rear muffler which you can see in the first photo!

Well after the Mazda being at the exhaust shop for the last two weeks, its finally done. Well kinda.

The rego exhaust is from bottom of the dump to 2.5" press bent exhaust with a Cat, hotdog and a tri-flow muffler.. it really does shut it up!

3.5" dump!

I am happy with the results from the guys, however just one thing I need to change, and that the water return from the turbo... its running over the top of the throttle body... I am going to relocate that to the top of the water pump housing.

Also got the IC piping done in aluminum 2.5" pipes.. I will need to take these off and paint them black

Took a few more happy snaps of the car, good lighting out front of the shop!

One thing I did do is start it.. It really is super quiet... and as soon as you rev it to around 3,500rpm wow the sound of that turbo without any load... Made me feel like there was a load coming... my god.. I cannot wait to boost this... It kinda sounds like a newer version of a HKS T51R...

**** yeah! Well done mate! It looks sooooooo clean!!!!

Sucks they have such harsh restrictions down south for running over the pits... Do you do that every year?

So when is it time for some party boost?

Thanks mate! still at little away from the complete project though!

This is just street looks for now! haha

Yeah, we only need to go over only once or unless we get pinged for being to loud.. then we need to go over again.. We are now getting mod plates here so its getting easier in a way!
However this one also needs a ID check done as the compliance was never completed (however it had rego) it just never got a import plate, but that is just as easy as a $15 ID check thats it.

Ha, party boost wont come until prob end of year at this stage.. After the tune, its focus on little rego bits and pieces like charcoal can, and plumbing back the oil catch can into the intake.. Then its ready for engineering.. I still in a way need to pass that, then its ready. The minute it passes rego its straight to the exhaust shop to finish the 3.5" race exhaust, Then just need a Microtech proboost and then its time for party boost! but again, rego could take 2 weeks, could take 2 months.. it really hangs on that..

Well after 10 months of the car being off the road, it is finally getting a tune this week. I have finished everything off, and its 100% ready to go.

Some transformation photos.

Here is the day I got the car.

After I did some clean up and tidied a few things up.

Today.

This is after I had cleaned it up abit.

Today. As you can see, no battery, no ugly coil packs. New catch can, and fuel lines, a air dam panel, relocated radiator overflow, new IC pipe work.

Turbo side. The blue silicon line will be replaced when i get a new boost controller, which will be after rego.

But, finally all done!

After rego there is loads to do to get it ready for the track... I have exactly 1 year to get it ready.. Will have new suspension setup by then, half cage, seats, harnesses, and more than likely a new motor too.. This motor is very old, and I dont think it will handle much more than 20psi.. But should still see easy 600hp..
But also new brakes are on the cards, and will be thinking about doing a close ratio gearbox aswell.. If I have time!

haha yeah mate, if and when it passes rego!!! But i will only limit this motor to around 20-23psi.. should be enough for 600hp still!

New motor will come start of next year, if this oh goes, oh well!

haha its not 100% ready yet through! the rego race is on! hahah

No rest of the wicked!

The VERY last thing, I needed to do. Good ole spark plug change before its rego tune.

The two trailing on the right where cooked!! Also the wrong plug!!!! B9EGV and B10EGV ... yeah no good. Swapped them for B9EIX for rego. Will be putting 10s and 11s in when its getting its power tune!

Oh ****, I run the B9's in my car.. What's the problem running them mate? I've heard they can't handle the bigger power.

Change them mate, having that you have a Microtech your ECU error's as the plug gets interference... You need a resistor type plug otherwise it will cause break down and throw RPM, HOM and REF errors.. If you are going to make over 280kw - you will run a 9 in the leading and 10 in the trailing. the more power you have the higher you go.

Yeah they are also fine, they are a resistor plug. BUR9EQs are also fine.

So really any resistor plug is fine to run. What heat range depends on what you are using it for and the power range.. I dare say on the street with my 20psi run i will run 10s for leadings and 11s for trailing (600hp and for street driving) .. for race, will be 11.5s for both for basically flat stick all the time.

So this is the new daily!

The Polo was a little underwhelming and a little too small for me (6ft2) for a daily drive.

So I got something that cost half the amount and goes twice as hard! Always had a soft spot for a inline 6 turbo.. in this case twin turbo..

That engine is massive for this car! it makes me giggle every time I see the engine bay..

Do have plans to tune it, and do a few cosmetic mods, but nothing serious like a single turbo kit for a while!
Stage 2+ will do for a little while. Would rather put the $$ into the Rx7
