Save yourself the effort and use those calipers as cores.
Reman calipers (with core) are only about $45 apiece.

^Where at? Rock auto seems to only have whole calipers for $60 and up. I might just buy two of those today as I already have new pads ready to go.

OK new calipers are in and bled. I can stop!!!!
Tomorrow I drain the diff and finish the speaker box.
Also earlier I mentioned an Eaton m90. I have decided against that and will instead get an M112. Next year I'll get that and a megasquirt installed an start tuning.
I'll try to document my supercharging endeavors as well as I can seeing that its a major taboo on this forum. I am guessing the hardest part will be making a pulley set as my ,machining contact at work just retired. I'll get it done.

Photos tomorrow!

Here is the rusty old caliper. You can see the goop from putting the old pads back in.

And here is the new caliper. as you can see the rotors weren't getting any contact whatsoever. lol

Here is a photo on what an Eaton M112 looks like...

And here are some AutoCad drawings of my intake setup I'm planning....

Here is the top view...

and the lower intake. I plan on using a liquid to Air intercooler as depicted.

Thats it for today.

Yesterday I filled the tank wiht fresh gas and tons of stabil and ran it for a couple hours.

Today I did a little work on the console.

added slots and pull handle for the tablet as well as opening up the wire holes a bit to allow better mounting of the tablet.

Next on the list is tires and fixing the seat and redoing the entire interior then fitting the real exhaust system.

I like your audio setup! I am thinking about using a Nexus 7 in my 86 SE as a head unit too. I was wondering how it sounds? Also, you could try using a potentiometer wired in your 3.5 mm line out to the amp. This could give you an external volume **** for under $20. Just a thought, keep up the great work!

I haven't decided for mine yet either. I was on the center console or near the tablet. Or maybe even in the ash tray/cubby hole but we will see once I get the tablet in.

The Ashtray might be it. I could also put a Fad/balance control there too...

I have been working on the interior bits inside since its so cold here. The Vents are all painted! The surround only has one coat though...

I had a light fuel leak on hte secondary rail and finally got around to fixing it!

Apparently the old installation (stock or not I don't know) had some sort of paper gasket on hte banjo bolt and it was seeping pretty bad.

Old gross paper peeling off with a razor...

Used a wire brush and razors to clean them off. Found some extra copper washers and viola!

So I finally have an exhuast system... sort of.

I got a fix it ticket for my janked exhaust and had to have one put on in very short notice without too much planning. I asked a muffler guy to put a single 2.5" out the back with a muffler.

Well he ended up installing a tiny 12" fart can and a resonator under the cabin. Its so much louder now and sounds like a civic. No high end to the exhaust tone at all.

The Y pipe he installed is pretty shoddy too. Its almost round rather than a Y shape.

There is MAJOR power loss with this setup. This is very surprising as the 1.75" Y pipe and single stock muffler should have been the worst thing in the world for power. Pretty much sucks for over $500

Anyways I will investigate when I get the car on a lift and redo everything.

And some photos for your enjoyment. You can see how shitty that Y pipe is. Its almost a T at the junction. the flow goes into the other pipe rather than the outlet.

Whatever works man, you'll get that Y fixed sometime. Everything else looks good, you're a good DIY'er unlike a lot of others here.

So an Autocross happened.

However I was heating up WAY too fast so I only did three runs. I'm going to flush the coolant system and putt fresh stuff in as its a terrible mixture right now. Tomorrow I go back and I'll have a time for you. There is a suped up NA miata that CRUSHED the competition. I can't beat him but I have my eye on a Firebird that can be beaten.

Cooling system refreshed and radiator blown out as there was at least 5 pounds of crap stuck in there. I didn't have any heat troubles. All runs were at redline in 1st gear so my temps went up to half on the gauge. Shut the car down between runs and it dropped back down to a quarter.

My best time was 41.66
This car is a drift machine! I couldn't get rear grip to save my life. I ended up ju8st seeing how many cheers I could get from the crowd at the final turn powering through sideways. hahaha

Next time I'll have new tires and I will be much more competitive.

However there was a guy with a COMPLETELY STOCK 86 with shaved tires and I beat him so i at least having something. haha

He ran a 43 flat.

The Firebird on slicks I wanted to chase was in my grasp for a while but his last run he pulled out a 40.8 out of nowhere!

Here is the 86. I took a ride along with him and he absolutely punishes that little car. He bought it for $500 and just uses it to thrash around at auto crosses. lol

This guy was my competition in my class. we was almost 5 seconds quicker than me! hahaha

Ans this guy with the gray stock FB beat me by half a second. he had much better traction tough. no burnouts or drifts from him.

Drove the car a couple hundred miles for an impromptu vacation. Hit some stopped traffic on the freeway and only made it about a half hour before hitting the H on the temp gauge. Ended up finally coasting to a walmart and removed the cap. insane boilover and no coolant left. Let it sit for a few minutes and poured 8 bottles of drinking water in and then doused the engine and radiator for good measure. Made it the rest of the trip at 1/4 on the gauge. I guess my clutch fan is dying. it still spins fine and i think it is in the "two turns to stop" spec. But I am replacing it with a Villager fan the first chance I get. Can't find them at my scrapyard yet.

Thinking I might have lost a coolant seal. The car is pushing coolant out of the expansion tank until it overheats. its happened three times or so. **** sucks.

Yeah I'll be rebuilding this fall. I still drive it around town a bit. Just have to remember to pour the coolant from the expansion tank back into the radiator every hundred miles or so. lol

I need to bring my engine hoist back home from my parents other house next month and then I'll tear into her. I would strip the whole thing now but I still like to drive it. lol

I also landed a new job this week so that will help majorly with buying stuff.

Do you guys think the Atkins sleeves really work? $70 is a lot of money for what looks like a very small amount of flow change. I guess I can just lump it into my rebuild cost and not worry about it.

Parts list and mods:

O-rings $160
Gasket kit $60
New Sleeves $75
***Mystery iron replacement $50-100***

Looking at over $400 plus other fluids and crap. Not that bad I guess.

Block off OMP and oil injectors. My pump doesn't work and I've been premixing.

I will be removing the Exhaust defusers and porting the exhaust ports while I'm in there as I have been kicking myself for not doing that the last time around. If I lose an iron maybe I'll just buy turbo housing as well....

Also for future reference, here is a great writeup from Karack on modding the NA sleeves

https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...leeves-986906/

Another project is to redo the Exhaust. I think I'll just slowly work from the header back. I want to enlongate the primary length similar to to Red95FD's RE build from Defined Autoworks...

Ok so I am doing an expiriment. I'm not sure I have a blown coolant seal.

Yesterday I managed to uncrewed my stripped bleeder screw on top of the radiator. THen I properly filled with coolant again. ran it in hte driveway and the clutch fan seems to be spinning hte normal amount and is moving serious air.

I put the hood down and let it sit at idle for 20 minutes baking in the 80 degree sun and no coolant was pushed into the expansion tank. I ran it all over town for two days and only about an ounce of coolant entered the expansion tank.

I think my cap at the top filler neck is failing and opening too early. This added to the pressure from the water pump is forcing coolant out of that nozzle there and into the tank. I will try to replace both caps this weekend and report back.

So i have two new caps and the system is full. No coolant in the expansion tank yet. I have an autocross tomorrow so I will see if 4 runs of 55 seconds at redline will change that.

Have fun out there! I hope the new caps solve your problem. RotaryEvolution always says they're crap and to buy 16# caps to avoid issues like yours.
