You still have a small vacuum leak. That's why it's revving a little on it's own.

I seem to have fixed the rev leak thing. I messed with the idle adjustment and the primary butterfly angle and that got rid of the unstable idle. I'll keep looking for leaks though. I need to replace the hose to the brake booster as its hard as a rock.

It scoots once it gets past 3500 rpm.

I definitely have a leak somewhere but I can't find it. I turned the idle screw all the way down and the car still idles at about 1k rpm.
I sprayed every hose and gasket with carb cleaner and nothing changed the idle. Pulling the OMP vacuum line dropped the idle a bit. The fuel pressure regulator hose pulls really hard vacuum as does the boost sensor line.
My only other options at this point are the EGR blockoff plate I added or the brake booster. But the brakes boost just fine it seems.

The 3/4" line at the back of the lower intake (pointing at the firewall) can be left uncovered right? I figured that went to the ACV which is gone. Covering it with my finger didn't seem to change the idle any.

You need to make a leak tester so you can hear whats leaking with the car off. Google "boost leak tester"

In non-engine related news, I have been planning my audio setup for this car.

I've finished gluing the center console together and starting priming and sanding it. For my Head unit I'm using a Google Nexus 7 molded into the console trim going straight into my Orion 240 gx Amplifier. I'm going to mold two 6.5s or 6x9s into the rear cover above the spare tire. I don't think I'm going to keep the door speakers.

Any objections or comments?

GREAT NEWS!

The car runs 100% perfect now! I managed to get the timing wrong when i initially stabbed the CAS. I went off the front pulley mount dot rather than the actually pulley marks. Repainted those and restabbed the CAS and magically everything works great.

I can idle under 1k RPM now.
There are no "hiccups" from the car constantly retiming itself.
There is no Bucking effect when holding a certain rpm.

I'll be sure to get a video of it running smooth this week. Job interview tomorrow so wish me luck.

Ordered a pair of Rockford Fosgate 6.5inchers for the back. I'll be fabricating a Spare tire cover and I'll stick these speakers inside it. This is going to be my first interior mod so you guys will start to see where I'm going with it.

Bottom line, lots of black with red trim.

It begins...

I gotta be honest, I'm not a fan of any version of Android but I simply cannot afford an iPad mini right now. I might have to make a music app because this one sucks. I can't adjust volume on screen. =[

To get around this I might stuff a cheap head unit with external controls behind the tablet. that way I can change the volume with buttons on the steering wheel.

I don't really need to angle the tablet at all. I can see it fine from any angle.

Here is the view from the captain seat. Shifter in fifth. Its only slightly in the way in third and first.

Sorry for the ****-astic photos. My version of Gimp is messed up and adds tons of noise...

This came out decent but definitely not done. I'm going to fill everything in with Bondo and sand smooth then paint silver. I should look almost stock. At least thats the goal.

Naw man I haven't bought a CD in years. This tablet is pretty slick. I can download music straight to it. No need to transfer from a PC.

So I have another conundrum.

the Front brakes dont work.

They compress, and there is definitely no air in the system. I have put over a quart of fluid through those lines.

However when I removed the pads, they have a been wearing at a 15 degree angle due to some weird *** half shims in there. I removed those however I still can't get full braking power at the front. The back locks up just fine though.

So today I ordered new front pads and piston O rings. I'll take the calipers apart and see if they are binding on something or maybe the weird pad shape is causing lack of brake force.

Today is the day of the rear cover and speaker baffle. I can't find any black carpet around these parts so it will just be plywood for now.

Also this is what my garage looks like right now. A little motivation for the day.

The Boxster S is my Dad's.

I didn't get a chance to finish it today. Just got the pieces cut and mocked up....here is the story...

So I started off with the speaker baffle itself. Lots of measure and placing hte speaker to make sure it wouldn't hit the spare tire.

Ed's Barn Find! 88 Vert Rebuild-dbw16.jpg

Then I added more pieces

Ed's Barn Find! 88 Vert Rebuild-bekcz.jpg

Next came measuring the speaker holes

Ed's Barn Find! 88 Vert Rebuild-komuj.jpg

Then some cutting

Ed's Barn Find! 88 Vert Rebuild-4unfb.jpg

Will they fit and make sound? YES!!!

Ed's Barn Find! 88 Vert Rebuild-opccu.jpg

And here are a few more pieces. I still have to do one bit in the very back but all thats left is screwing it together and covering in carpet.

Thanks for watching.

It was only the timing can be tricky with old pulleys.

Installed the Power Steering and AC compressor today. However my Oil Pressure Gauge doesn't work anymore. =/ I definitely have oil pressure because the car runs fine. I cleaned the crap out of the connector and nothing. Aaaaaand my fuel gauge all of a sudden started working.

Tomorrow I'm flushing the Transmission fluid and maybe rebuilding the front calipers. Will update or die on the way there.

TRansmission is flushed however the front brake calipers are toast. As soon as I took the dust covers off i just shook my head. Only one piston moved at all and the three others were hella seized.

I didn't have another ride home so i put everything back together and parked it.
I'll have to take the calipers apart this weekend and I might need new ones if they are really messed up.

pic incoming...
