I wire wheeled the vacuum actuators and they are much cleaner now. the right one is half done...

The engine is on the mounts and off the Hoist! The Racing Beat Race Dual header is installed!

I also finished the injector and ground connections for the engine harness. I'm friggen stoked! Next up is the upper intake manifold and vaccuum bullshit. Then the rest and I'll be ready to start her up!

She Turns over!

I have everything other than the Powersteering, AC, and airpump installed. The egine bay looks very clean!

My fuel pump is working. I blew gasoline all over the garage from a loose fitting. lol
I don't know if I'm getting spark yet. I'll do more testing tomorrow.

HOWEVER: I am seeing very little oil pressure on the dash gauge. I can't tell if it because my pressure sender is broken or really dirty? What kind of pressure reading should I be getting when I turn it over?

Im excited!

IT RUNS!!!!!!

Ed's Barn Find! 88 Vert Rebuild-pjbpt.jpg

Problems:
-I got it to start and run for a few minutes. However now I can no longer get it to run with the fuel pump connected. If I unplug the pump it starts up and runs out of fuel. If I continue to deflood it or whatever it does the same thing. As soon as the pump gets electricity, no start.

Is this possibly leaking primary injectors? If so that ******* blows because I really don't want to pull the intake off again.

- The trailing plugs will NOT fire unless I connect the Leading leads to the LEADING coil pack. Then both sets fire just fine. REally weird. I tested the leading cables are measuring 7-8k Ohms, and the trailing cables measure 5k Ohms.

Got her out of the garage! I did a couple runs around the neighborhood but I can't get this thing to not flood. I'm sure its the injectors as they appear to be original. I will try to scrounge up some new ones soon.

Right now its idling around 1400 and that seems ok to me. Any reason to lower it more?

Also I have a shaky cam video for ya. Shot with an ipad because I couldn't find my HD camera...

Send the injectors out to be cleaned. Even buying used ones, it's still probably cheaper and you know what you're getting.
EDIT
I just watched the video. Sorry, but your idle sounds AWFUL. You definitely have some issues.

I ordered new plugs, plug wires, and a master cylinder. I can't get it to start with the leads in the right place. SO it looks like she will be torn down again and the injectors shipped out as you said. $70 for all four is a hell of a lot cheaper than buying 4.

She will run again, but not for a bit.

Strong suggestion: Do a compression test.
Oh and have the injectors serviced. IIRC witchhunter.com will do all 4 for under $100

Injectors came back and they were in running order before so no leaks. I also deleted the FPD as it was a rattly mess. Unfortunately I couldn't find a perfect fit banjo bolt so this had to do. Also We started her up and ran in the driveway for about 40 minutes. It got pretty hot and my goddamn temp sensor doesn't work. However I am sure it didn't hurt anything. Probably just helped seat the seals a bit. I'll have a video up today.

Also today is the day I replace the master cylinder and bled the brakes. Any bets on how many seized pistons I'll have after 150 years of sitting? Anybody?

in process of threading the idle throttle plates for blockage..

Ed's Barn Find! 88 Vert Rebuild-mr9ie.jpg

blockage with 1/8 NPT. The other side had to use JB weld as its a little bit bigger than the 1/8 NPT.

And here is my ghetto looking fuel rail...

The car is so loud I can't hear anything. haha

Once I have the exhaust built I might be able to find it. Could spraying soapy water at the hoses help me find the leak?

Thanks for the heads up!

Looks like your spray is already happening. Your radiator cap (or nearby area) is pissing coolant. You can see it start around 36 seconds. then it gets worse after.

^Haha yup I was low on coolant and haven't replaced those hose clamps yet. Lots of stuff still messed on this car.

My thermostat cap has a nipple on it and I don't see that in the manual. Right now I have it capped and the radiator cap flowing to the expansion tank. Is that an OK setup?

The system doesn't care which position you use for overflow although I'd probably use the one on the thermostat cover because it's higher.

Coolant leak fixed. I added more coolant to the mixture and clamped the upper hose better.

I can't handle the noise form this car anymore. I'm making a ghetto exhaust system tomorrow until I can buy and build a legit setup. I'm going true Dual all the way back.

I'm thinking Flowmaster HP-2s for presilencers and DBXs for the back. Any opinions on this?

Here are the pics of the ghetto setup.
Home made flange. I have an RB flange that I'm saving for the real exhaust.

Ed's Barn Find! 88 Vert Rebuild-syowh.jpg

Here is the Y pipe. Its actually 1-7/8" steel from a chevy header we found in the trash out back. The RB header is 2".

Ed's Barn Find! 88 Vert Rebuild-qyg9a.jpg

A welding student did the welds. I told him he was using way too much wire but whatever.

Ed's Barn Find! 88 Vert Rebuild-gormw.jpg

And here is where they shall meet. This is the ORIGINAL muffler and the other one was blown out the side. Hopefully this will quiet it down some so I can run the car in my neighborhood.

Ed's Barn Find! 88 Vert Rebuild-liyxh.jpg

I'll be sure to post pics from underneath the car when I put it together tomorrow!

The car runs really nice now. I still have to do a bit of throttle body tuning but Its really smooth up to about 5k.
Problem is under load it cuts badly at 5K and backfires. Any seen this before? If I'm in nuetral it revs up fine.

I'm going to get out the timing light tonight nad make sure I'm in the proper area. I also have a new Fram air filter and new Trailing plugs to install tonight.

I also have a video of the new exhaust on and its SOOOO much quieter with the tiny Y pipe and old junk muffler. I shot a huge chunk of something out of it right after I drove away yesterday and scared the crap out of me. lol

So hopefully I can get the video up tonight so you guys can see. )

There is also a weird tinny hissing noise coming from the engine. Can anybody tell what it is?

Here is a video and its pretty easy to hear.

EDIT:
I found the noise. Its my clutch squeaking. So that sucks.

I checked my Air Fuel ratios and its between .700 and .800 mVolts so It appears that I'm running lean. I get fairly frequent backfires and my plugs were getting white. Anybody know how to tune that out?
