You need some Gauges to fill those holes in your dash..(hint)...and If I wake up and find my house moved then I know you were over using that trailer hitch..lol!

I ride cross country in kanata lakes and downhill at camp fortune and a bunch of other places out of town.

Love the hitch! You could also tow a paddle boat!

Great build so far man.

Hitch looks awesome. So does the homemade short shifter. Good work!

i needed to make a new shif **** of some sorts for the short shifter because the s4 has a different thread than the s5. Heres is what I came up with.

I looked around the house to see what i could find to use as a mold to case a new shift **** and conveniently i was drinking one of these

I then cut the bottom of the beer bottle so i could pour in the two part resin to take the desired form which turned out like this

Trim away the excess and BAM shifknob. Its not ideal because its light but it will do the job temporarily and allow me to drive the car without cursing. Gotta love beer as an inspiration

I've been pretty busy with work the past few weeks but i expect things to ease up very soon. Im hoping to start working with fiberglass and carbon by summers end and maybe start building some aero and composite replacement panels. Until then, the rx will be used as the functional workhorse it was almost meant to be. Sometimes I'm impressed with how versatile and capable the FC is as a platform for damn near everything

So I've been trying to knock out a few things on my to do list before the first autocross of the season. I wired up a new electric fan in place of the seized clutchfan, the mechanical diff came out for an overdue rebuild, and I picked up some new rims and tires. I moved up to an 8" wide rim which lets me run 225 section tires instead of the 205s, I really liked the hankook v12s I had but I couldn't find them in 225. I'm taking a bit of a gamble with these firestone indy 500s as I couldn't find any reviews on them, we'll see how things go. Rims are going through a quick refurbish and shot of paint. I'm by no means chasing professional results as I simply don't have the time to sit there and sand for 4 days straight. I cut the old cat out and replaced it with a straight pipe, in hindsight I guess I was fantasizing about flames coming out of the exhaust but really the car just got loud. Other things which are still on the list are making a new intake which sucks ambient air as well as eventually ditching the dtss bushings.

Put the snorkle back on the stock airbox and that's exactly what you have.

It doesn't clear the inlet of the godspeed rad, I was thinking just opening up a gap in the part of the rad support structure similar to how you did your ambient air intake, and then just build an intake box with a pod filter

Dig the progress there brotha . So how was the diff rebuild . . Your new wheels remind me of the the old 15 oz racing I had that I paint bronze back in the 2003-4 . I like the bike set up . Got any pics of the setup mount to the 7 . I'm deciding on whether I want a roof rack (custom build since no one has them for us anymore from what I know ) or go your route which means I could hook a lil trailer up for track use . Decisions decisions

Fair enough, it probably doesn't fit that fan shroud very well either.
I should have known as I have the same rad as you and ran into that very issue.

That airbox area is oddly shaped but with care I'm sure you could fab up something nice, just don't expect to feel any differences while driving. I promise that the arrangement you have right now (stock airbox sans snorkle) works just as well as any enclosure/pod filter you come up with.

That's the reason why I haven't bothered to do too much about it yet. I'm willing to bet having a proper heatshield around the exhaust manifold would do more for intake temps then the re-routed intake box, the stock shield rusted apart.

I made L shaped brackets which use the lower two holes of the rear towing points. With some longer hardware, the mounts are still functional if I need them. I've seen some designs which mount through the eyelet of the towing point which renders them useless.

autocross went well, I placed 4th in my class with 3 of us being within half a second of one another. The firestone tires have very soft sidewalls in comparison to the hankooks, the steering response on the street is similar to a truck compared to the previous setup Other than that, the car felt great. Super neutral and loads of rotation off throttle. Almost feels like driving a mid mount! I didn't manage to rebuild the diff in time for the event and to be honest I kinda like the single spinner. I don't think the car rotated as much off throttle with the LSD because it would lock it on decel as well. The car has so little power and so much grip with those tires it doesn't really matter anyways
Here are some shots of the car with new shoes at the Autox

Small update. The car blew an oil cooler line at the autcross a few weeks ago and lost almost all the oil. I got really lucky and found no bearing debris when I drained what remained in the pan. Bought a new line and the car is back out on its feet.

I landed 2nd place in class and top 10 overall this past weekend at the autocross.
Working on getting a better camera so I can post some in car footage
