Brakes installed. Damn it feels good to be a gangster... Next on the list is wheels and tires. I'm going to be starting autox soon so ill just be accumulating parts over the summer then get back into it next fall... that's the plan anyhoo.
I have this crazy idea to cut an angle out of my factory spoiler and cut the pegs out of the middle to make it a type of wrap around sport spoiler. I really haven't don't much of this type of work so I'm a little in the dark as to where to start.... intelligently....
Small Update..... Got some new Himni Racing urethane motor and trans mounts. The installation was easy, except the strange wrench sizes LOL. My drivers side factory mount was separated and my passanger side mount was missing the bottom bolt. hopefully my engine doesn't want to hop through the hood now .
So After installing my new motor and trans mounts I was noticing a nasty vibration. It was showing symptoms of a bad rear ujoint so I jacked her up and sure enough both u joints were bad. I wasn't too excited about spending damn near 500 on a new one from Mazdatrix so I tried to grind out the old ones and replace them with the Rockford 430-10a.
I also ordered some wheels, Square G6 wheels. 17"X9" +15 offset they don't ship until the 31st so I'm going to hold off on tires. I hoping I can run a 225/45/17 on all 4 but I want to wait and see how the wheels sit in the well. I'm debating on what treadwear 200 tire I want to use though, I would love to hear what others expierence in auto-x with RX7 tire choice for track and road.
Its been a while and I have some things to share
First off o got my Wheels only 6 month wail LOL. I like the look, they are a little wide so im going to have to roll my fenders a bit.
At the end of the season of auto X my engine was getting a little tired although it only has roughly 30,000 miles on it I really didn't take care of it when I was a younger lad. So I got a build plan but first.
Did I mention I took poor care of it when I was younger....
And that's how she sits today, Just primed. I'm going to paint the engine bay Toyota Metallic Grey and attempt to wrap the firewall in gold chrome vinyl.
The plan for the engine build is to keep it NA true to the cars roots I guess. I want to overbuild it so if I take proper care of it I can drive how I want. I'm hoping to get it done by March but we all know how that goes LOL. Really I want to take it to 7stock and not have to worry about getting stranded in NoCal. I think I also want to Bridgeport it. I'm shooting for a reliable 220 HP at the Wheels and right now the engine has a streetport.

Painting is done. I Recommend if you don't have the room to paint do all the prep work and take it somewhere to have sprayed, it was a pain in the *** setting up the "booth" lol.
My firewall wrap didn't go as planed its much harder than the professionals make it look haha. Even though it will likely peel up 5 min into engine bay temps I like to look and I think its something I'm going to pursue in the future maybe with real heat shielding or something.
Now I'll be buying parts and refurbishing anything I can.
Those engine mounts appear to be improperly designed. If that is a single through bolt in the poly then the tension side of the mount is going to act like a solid motor mount under load because the bolt will transfer full vibration and noise. Very poor design.
For a single through bolt to work it would need another bushing on the other side of the subframe. The compression side will work but that's almost worse having half your engine mount act solid while the other does not.
Sadly many of the fc mounts have copied this same extremely flawed design. You may want to reconsider.
Off the top of my head awr is the only place I'm aware of that makes proper poly engine mounts.
Also to be clear I have never used awr mounts so quality wise I have no idea but on paper the they at least properly isolate the engine from the body where as the style you have now does not.
This is my personal opinion but urethane has no business being used in place of rubber anywhere on a car. Definitely don't get urethane suspension bushings.
Thanks for the input, That makes sense about the bolt going all the way through. I had them installed for a bit and didn't notice any annoying vibrations and throttle response seemed to be improved. But its not really saying much considering what the state factory ones were lol.
@rotarygod why don't you like urethane? because of the noise and ride quality?
I got a new spoiler so I'm not worrying about modifying my factory one. Found a dude on FB, Jhosua Serrata Ramos, that makes FRP pieces for cars. He mainly does Nissans but will make anything you ask. Finally I got my ITBs in it was a struggle finding 50MM ITBs that didn't cost over a G. The good folks at Borla hooked me up they had to make the 50MM but it was well worth the wait. I also picked up the 48/51MM IDA style manifold. It looks like the bore at the top is 50MM but because my irons are ported I may port the engine side of the manifold to match.
My next thing is I would like to rebuild but I'm debating bridge port or leave it streetported....
I got it from Blank Title - Home. he charged me 200 shipped and it came in about 4 days USPS in a nice little crate wrapped in foam.
I don't really do body work and I'm fitting this now its kind of some work to get it mounted but I don't have anything to base that off of.
I would like to talk to him about designing a RB style kit for an FC but I'm not too worried about looks ATM. (despite wheels and wing LOL).
I got around to installing my spoiler. It was kind of a process but I learned a lot from just diving in and doing it. The car needs a ton of body work down the road so for now the spoiler looks how its going to look until I decide to do exterior work.
Decided to delete my 3rd brake light
The factory trim didn't really fit the hole so that needed to be reworked a bit.
Filling gaps after it was all screwed in.
After it was glued and screwed in for the final time I started countersinking and installing rivets.
A bit of an update. This past weekend I went down to Oregon for a rotary class put on by Kurt Robertson Enterprises with help from Rotaries Plus and Atkins Rotary. I learned a bit met some good people and got to BS rotaries for a couple days. At the end of the class he gave away an rx8 rebuild and 6port 13B we rebuilt during the class, of course I didn't win it but it was cool none the less.
I got a bunch of suspension work and fuel system parts ordered so there will be another photo dump soon

Kurt Robertson and Dan Atkins a lot of rotary knowledge in this pic
The spoiler looks great brotha . I to dream of a fc Rocket bunny kit . Many drawings and sketches up but no go so far . One reason I went with the riveted 280z fenders . I'm
In if you ever get him
To do it . I got a few pic saved of different ideas and said above drawings I found
