88 vert turbo build

well, long story, i bought my first rx7 back 7 years ago, hated it... than 4 months ago, i found a really cheap convertible rx-7 and figured hell might as well beat the **** out of it. the car was trashed, ended up parting it out, and throwing half of it away and scrapping the rest. I than found my current convertible. I feel i over paid for it but was happy to find a "clean" vert. when i drove the 4 hours to get it, was kinda disappointed.. Seller had forgot to mention quite a few things, even after asking 100x if there was this or that, and than wanted more money for stuff that was supposed to be included in the deal... But whatever i didnt say anything, and at that point i just wanted to get back in the truck and drive back home, so i
guess its my own fault, but being by myself 4 hours from home, whatever. first idea was to put the NA motor from my other vert in it, and be done.... but than i met russ (just startin) he had sold me some parts for my scrap vert and than kinda started talkin to him more, and he planted the idea of turbo charging mine too... thats when it all went down hill, found a motor and trans and misc parts, Than recently found a complete turbo ii for dirt cheap, it was complete and had every part on it that i needed.... This is where im at now... here are some pictures of everything....

i put an intake manifold on it tonight that had all the block off plates on it already, and was powder coated, its purple despite it looking very blue... very easy straight forward process... and cleaned up everything great!

ive done alot of little cleaning up, and plan on cutting the rockers from the TII and one day getting them welded in mine, and painting it again.. tons of scratches everywhere... But goal is to drive it a couple days before it snows, than rip it down and probably not drive it again for years until its rust free, and MINT. (yea right)

and yes i know the motors filthy, i just wanna drive the car before the snow flies, than itll get rebuilt/cleaned... and yes i know my garage is a F**king disaster zone tomorrows clean out day... hahaha

Looks like it is going to be a good build... The title says it's a vert build and you've got photos of a coupe..

T2 is the Donor car, Convertible is his. Yes the T2 was very clean rust wise, Yes it had lower milage, Yes its a perfect car to cut up. Putting the drive train out of the T2 into the Vert is whats going on here, utilizing the T2 wiring harnesseS. No he does not have convertible motors for the convertible top so the wiring for all the convertible electronics is irrelvant. This Convertible is pretty hacked up....On the other hand, Swap racks, you could have already sold the power rack brackets . That rack is bothering me more than anything. Un- rigg it or swap it i think???

did it suck ripping it apart? sure, but for the price i couldnt touch a quarter of the parts buying them 1 by 1. it has almost no rust on it, at all... but if i were to have tried to make that car street ready it would have been alot of work. The car sat for 7 years.. By parting the car out i got everything i needed, and clean rockers to cut out and replace mine that arent in the best shape...

The steering rack WILL get done man, i just have been busy with getting everything else ready and put back together. this weekend was a good weekend, i got the coupes bumpers on the vert, oil cooler on, and ALOT of little odds and ends done. I have about a month until ill have my first child, so im trying to get this done and on the street fast before my time gets very limited... I dont want to cut corners though... all in all, i want a car that i can say is my own, and i did. its starting to be that way.

heres some pictures from today.

Keep on, keepin' on bro! I know all too well the misery that an unfinished car project can bring. It is looking good, that engine bay looks really clean, I'm guessing you cleaned it up and resprayed it?

What is the Banzai Corksport thing I see?
