88 vert build
88 vert build
About 6 months Ago I picked up this vert for $200,has been sittin for about 3 years with a blown motor.previous owner said it would start but would smoke alot and even drip oil out the tail pipe.car was stock besides having a magnaflow catback exhaust.here are some pics of when I first picked it up.

I had a spare s5 n/a block and decided to rebuild that so I can take advantage of the higher compression rotors.so I basically used everything of the s5 block and used a s4 center iron just so I can keep it smog legal here in Cali.while engine was apart I decided to port it(might as well right).I used pineapple racing porting templates, removed and replaced exhaust sleeves with turbo sleeves.

Only took a few pics

Ok so I installed engine in the car fired right up but after 10 minutes of idling it would start puffing out clouds of smoke.first thought was ok its just burning off the assembly lube used on the enine but I left it idling for about an hour and it would not stop.decided to remove exhaust and found out it as completely drenched in oil from previous motor.sourced me a set of used cats(for smog purposes)and bought a pair of new racing beat mufflers of a forum member here and smoking problem solved.

So now the car is up and running and I'm just trying to sort out a few things.i installed some s5 tail lights,in process of installing s5 radio surround and upgrading to a better radio.
I bought two crown Vic mesh of a guy on Craigslist and found the second pair at the junkyard, but might be of a different year crown Vic as they look a bit different.also in process of installing a rpm switch to activate the 6 port actuators(Atkins sleeves).
Here's pics of it with s5 tails

First pair I got already painted

Second pair ready to get started on(notice center mesh is different from other pair)but will do for now.

I been getting lucky at the junkyards.I found a clean complete vert top for $50,I went again this Sunday just to scan the yards out and found a turboII hood for $40.

I will post more pics as I go.i need to give this car a full detailing, give it a washing because I haven't since I got it and cleaning up the interior.

I fixed a few electrical issues it had today, idiot lights and clock fixed, windshield wipers installed new relay on the switch so now all speeds work.and had some time to install the crown victoria mesh.

Nice work Dave. You've definitely gotta hook some of us up with a few of the fantastic deals you're finding. A decent TII hood for $40 is just crazy lol.
Low-budget builds seem to have the most creative owners.

If you need any parts for cheap off an 88 vert, i'll be swapping the whole manual driveline over to an s5 hatch here pretty soon and parting out the rest. Motor only has ~100k and the rest 159k.
