87 base rx7 s5 turbo swap

It was recommended to me to start a build thread. So what i got is an 87 base model rx7 i blew original engine and decided to look for a turbo engine. I found a turbo engine that was imported from japan to Florida. It came with trans, ecu, and harness

Got it all in and wired up last year around this time. Wasnt bad since the car was a base model. Not alot of wiring to jump over. Got it running and it made good power blew my friends wrx turbo away and most other stock turbo cars i loved it. But it smoked on start up and ran really rich. 9:1 or more afr. I still havent figured that out yet. But anyway about 2 months ago it lost compression on the front rotor which was the one causing smoke because it blew coolant out of the spark plug holes. So i pulled it out and tore her apart this is what i found

Front main bearing

Rotor said hello to the housing

So im still trying to figure out what cause the bearing starvation. Im thinking my thermo pellet wasnt working right because i was dropping oil pressure to about 5 at idle but not 100 percent sure. Im sure coolant didnt help anything either. So i got new front housing and thanks to a fellow member got 2 s4 rotors and a new turbo with a bigger compressor wheel i think 73 trim and eccentric shaft and 2 750 injectors for secondarys. im in process of rebuilding it. I just finished up porting it

I used mazdatrix templates to guide me. So now im just waiting on the rest of my partsto put it together and still debating what kind of chip or piggy back to use on my ecu since ill have all the extras on it this go around. I dont think im doing to badly for my first rotary build so any opionins and advice are welcome.

Awesome setup bro! I'm trying to do something very similar but where did you find the motor and trans ? I'm having a hard time finding a reliable import company.

How much was your rebuild ? If you did one? Planning on rebuilding myself but there are so many seal kits, I have no idea which one I need.

Use the search function, it's been talked about before. But this is a price range you are looking at for seals ONLY. Housings, irons, and other hard parts may be no good in an import engine.

Dang man, I'm not liking these odds lol. You buy a motor with no warranty and then rebuild it only to find out you need new everything lol or you get a good one... That's risky.

That's why no one recommends buying a motor through an importer

I don't know of a single source to get an engine for an RX7 that has a warranty, unless you buy a Mazda Reman. The Mazda Reman is only the 13B-REW, so not really an easy swap for an FC. I know that rebuilders will have a warranty on a rebuild, but none of the importers that I have seen offer any kind of warranty on any engine.

Ive got 3650 in everything. Build was 1850 because of needing hard parts, 1350 for seal kit and apex seals and engine, trans, ecu and harness was 1800. I drove it for a year before it went out on me.
