Old picture, but I have done a new gauge-holder once for my old FC.
Moved the stereo up a bit, so could three gauges take place below... Attachment 693977 |

How do you even sit in it? Lol, between the roll cage and bucket seats, it looks like you'll have a broken tailbone every time you sit down xD

Just spent the last few days reading through this thread from start to finish and I must say it is a truly inspirational build. I wish I had the skills and the knowledge (and the access the the tools:egrin:) that you have. Look forward to seeing the completion of your build.
I don't know if I missed it in the thread but what transmission are you planning to use? I was going to use the FC turbo box to begin with (mainly because it's cheap) but now I'm leaning towards a Tremac 5 speed and doing it properly first time. Green Brothers in New Zealand make a belhousing to convert to the rotary engine so that's easy for me.

Lightweight-ing the doors, I see?
|
What are those warning lights and two toggle switches for?
|
Clever remount of the stock switches but the lights and toggles...um, I guess I'd expect something carved from billet or more exotic.
Those look so normal. Sorry John, you've set your bar so impossibly high. |

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-t...2/CIMG2604.JPG The top warning lights pretty much speak for themselves, I know the shift light is pretty useless but I had the ecu output already wired so I just added it. The surge tank warning light lights up when the small fueltank in the front of the engine bay is low on fuel, there is a fuel level sensor in there. The bottom left 2 toggle switches are for cutting the fuel and turning on the cooling fans. The ecu normally handles the fueling and cooling relays but being able to manually turn the cooling relay on or the fuel relay off can come in handy, warning lights above both switches indicate that their activated. The bottom right toggle switch is hooked to the ecu, it can be programmed to do multiple things. The turning knob above the switch is also wired to the ecu, it can also be programmed and used for multiple things, like modifying injection duration, ignition advance, start limiter rpm, launch control values ect. It can be useful to make adjustments during driving without having to take out the laptop.

Made a gauge pod today, I wanted to replace the idiot light panel with a center gauge pod, but couldn't find a decent one made for an FC that I could use. Those universal pod's also weren't an option because they look cheap and don't fit the fc dash at all. I also didn't want to modify or build a plastic one myself because plastic isn't my thing. So since I was already putting in lot's of aluminium sheet stuff in the car I figured why not use it for the gauge pod aswell, so I came up with this: https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-O...2/CIMG2612.JPG I'll need to check if it's not too shiny while driving but I can always paint it black or sandblast it or something. |
Panda style. Love it.
I like your gauge pod, too! |
Only managed to get through a small selection of the posts, but this is indeed an immense build. Well done, good sir.
|
I tried to make a warning light for my surge tank but i failed :P
|
I'd paint match the gauge pod to the dash or do black to darken it down a little, too brite

I like the center console with the old school switches and lights. Kinda reminds me of Darth Vader's center console.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...arth_Vader.jpg So it totally goes with the stormtrooper paint job. :icon_tup: |

Did some more work, the dashboard is finally in place for good this time. I need a few more things to finish the interior up but it's getting there :) I think I'm going to start with the front suspension tomorrow, lot's of work to be done there also  https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/--...2/CIMG2643.JPG |
