took it for a drive yesterday and it moves out pretty good! after 3 quick runs around the neighborhood though, someone called the cops and 2 squad cars were hanging out around the corner waiting for us to go out again because they didn't know where we were. hahaha.
good thing for us that the fuel filter got clogged so we couldn't start it again, or we would have gotten busted.
apparently it needs some baffles. haha
ill have a funny video up soon of taking my wife for a ride

To the rotary guys... does that plenum style work? Seems counter intuitive.

so after the 3rd drive on saturday the car died around the corner and i had to push it a block home. turned out the 80 year old fuel tank that i thought i had cleaned good enough, had gunk and dirt in it that i didn't get out and must have been softened up by sloshing fuel. it totaly blocked the fuel line up to the filter. good thing for my pre-pump filter!
so it needed a hard core clean, but it has 3 chambers in it, so its not just an easy pressure wash operation. heres what i came up with...
2 gallons of water, 1 gallon of de-greaser, a bunch of glass bead for sand blasting, and a drum style cement mixer for about 6 hours.
in the end, it came out almost chrome inside!! WIN!
tonight i will build some baffles for the exhaust, put some fuel back in and see if they help cut down on its 125 decibels

so the baffles tonight took it from 125db, down to 100db. not sure thats a very good improvement. but hey, what can you expect from trying to quiet down a 16" long open boom tube. haha.

i thought i put that up. sorry. here it is
last night i mounted the grill shell and i got the head lights figured out. im using projectors. true vintage race cars dont have headlights but being a street car it has to have something, so i decided to go with these because they dont draw too much attention, and it turns out they they look super awesome!!!!
also, yesterday i put insurance on it and went to the registry to secure its vintage VIN number in the system as my own. so now, even through its not fully registered and plated, i can still drive it legally on the street with a $24 'in-transit' permit for "road test purposes" thats good for 7 days. that week runs out, just go pay another $25 and get another one, and so on untill its finished and ready to get plated. NICE!!
cops cant do anything about my loud pipes now, because its "not finished". WIN

i put baffles in it. i havent had a chance to roll it out and listen to it outside the garage and properly try my decibel meter on it now but likely it will get some kind of side pipe.

^need some parts? i have some leftovers. haha message me and stop by some time
i went to a swap-meet yesterday and picked up a few things for the car. a few more old wheels, a few more rear diff gear sets for when i explode mine, and some grill screen. so last night i fitted that in and made a #5 stencil for the grill and the body (when its eventually made)

i was thinking of using a bike muffler on it but i took it out today and tested it and it seems to read about 65-70 decibels at idle with my baffles now in. not bad. a huge improvement from wide open pipes. heres a 1st to 3rd pull. still un-timed and un-tuned and learning stick shift, but it pulls pretty hard. still no gauges are hooked up or anything. just the bare bones to make it run. i also did a bit of drifting around a traffic circle today too. it seems VERY easy to control when sliding.

ive been doing wiring the last week or so. me and wiring have a love hate relationship. i love it because i like the challenge and i love when it all comes together right, but i hate it because it takes so long. ive been bent over the car for so many days now that i could hardly stand when i came in from the garage last night.
its suposed to be real warm on friday and im hoping to have all the wiring done so i can take it out and weigh it at the commercial scale and see if i made my goal of under 1300lbs.
after this, its just a fiberglass body, and a license plate!!
pics to come

wiring is finished but still not tuned. took the day off work and took the car for some ice driving. this video is kinda fun at about 45mph. we did the same thing at about 60mph and must have slid with no control for 500-600 feet. tons of fun!
traction was near impossible even to get to those speeds. probably took 1/2 a mile of feathering it to get those speeds without the tires letting go. haha.
