tires

These are 295's on 12 inch wide wheels. I would love a set of 345's.

Tire size

Alex,

Be careful with such a high profile tire you don't rub the flairs when the suspension compresses. I had this issue with the 17 ccw, as they are 17/12. I solved it by going with 280lb springs in the back. I am not happy as its way to stiff for the street. These mazdas were never designed for 17 inch rims. Back in the imsa race days all cars ran 16 inch. I remember going in the pits and looking at the wheels they had for spares.

I purchased some bg coils so I am going back to those with big bump stops in case so I don't damage the flairs.

Also Hoosier makes a 275/35/15 that's a nice low profile in case u want something lower.

alex, the problems with going with such wide widths in the back are that:
1) totally change the gearing of the car
2) limitted to widths up front (in my case for 15" wheels)
3) do you have the power to back it up? (this can be fixed of course by turbo )
4) u will start breaking things if too much grip

u've seen my 265's in the rear and to me, that's plenty wide. i just wish the fronts were 235's or 245's instead of the 215's to even out the balance.

We all have wheel selling regrets.

ZG flares? I must have missed that, but I thought you were going with a widebody set up.

I decided to hold off on the wide body and just run the flares for now, I can always upgrade to the wide body down the road.

Collecting dust ....

V8 out 12a in, Its nice to see a rotary back in this car. The plan is to run the 12a for awhile with the Arkay Turbo setup until it dies or until the 13b is done.

lol I change my mind everyday on what direction to go with this car. Spacers are a must in the rear, I also need some coil overs in the rear.

The front air dam is not lining up at all, its almost like it was made for another kit. I need to get a hold of the guy that has the mold of this kit to see if I have the wrong air dam.

We might have to start our own monthly meets Fred, OGWB (Old Guys With Wide Body's) lol

I've been looking around at your thread and watching updates. I just dawned on me that I think I raced against the IT7 car in 2003 at my driver's school. This would have been at Gateway International in St Louis. It was running in ITA back then and it crashed out of second on a restart.

Anyway, like the wheel and the body kit

Thanks Scott! The person I purchased the car from usually raced it at Roebling road and Road Atlanta. There is a good chance he purchased the car from a person in the Midwest, I'll have to ask him.

I just watched Charlie in the EP race at the RunOffs today, Makes me miss living near you guys in Kansas City.

Still trying to find a fiberglass guy that is willing to help me

In the mean time I found a set of BBS E50 wheels for sale that supposedly came off of an old IMSA wide body SA that are 16x11 front and 16x12 rear in 4x110.

Unfortunately after getting the wheels back to the shop I find out that they are actually 4x114.3

So now it looks like I have two options, keep the 12A suspension and run the 15inch Epsilons or take the time and upgrade to SE suspension just for the BBS wheels.

Depends what you budget is Alex. With the epsilons, u just need a set of spacers. Those bbs' look like they need to be refinished or possibly re-barreled. Either would look awesome though!

The BBS wheels definitely need to be refinished, and one lip needs to be replaced. I talked to the person I purchased the wheels from and he agreed to a partial refund on the wheels due to the wrong bolt pattern.

Im going to end up keeping the wheels and using them down the road when I switch to SE suspension.
