I'm going to go take a look at the car tonight so I will get some more pics posted tomorrow.

Spoke with the paint guy and he is in the process of painting the little parts. I may or may not be able to see the car tonight depending on the paint. He doesn't let anyone in to see the painting process because of the paint in the air, dust movement, etc.

If I'm able to see the car, I'll take some more pics.

I have the emblem on the way and it should be here today.

I spoke with the paint guy last night over the phone and I'll be going to the shop tomorrow to help start puting the car back together.

Sounds good, glad the part was available. Told ya you would leapfrog me paintwise....I'm still a week or two away from truly getting paint on the body, all I have painted so far is bolted off items.....nothing but primer on the body. We need pics!

I guess you were right, lol. I still don't have any new pics of the car.

I couldn't believe how glossy the emblems are when new. I'm glad I got them.

The paint hasn't progressed much at all in the last month. I'd hoped that I'd have the car back by the 5th of May but that isn't going to happen at this rate. I'm starting to get really pissed that the car has made almost no progress in the last month.

Yeah, it looked like it was almost done in some of the pics, why hasn't he finished the paint yet?

It's been a while since the car has made much progress. It is now back under way. Thanks to Stilettoman for the pics and description of the front end repair. My body man is doing the install almost exactly like Stilettoman's car. I will bet welded pics in the next few days.

Here is the new front being preped for install by the body man:

Here is the front being fitted before welding. All the existing spot welds line up perfectly.

The K8 front end is off my old '83 GSL so we has to add a few welded nuts for the GSL-SE airbox. We also had to move the oil cooler mounts over. We still need to move the front brake hose mounts over.

This just came in the mail:

Energy Suspension, HYPER-FLEX SYSTEM graphite impregnated black bushings Complete Master Bushing Set. from Re-Speed

We worked on the car Tuesday night.

I stripped the front driver's side fender (red). It was a junk yard fender and we tried to just give it a sanding before primer but the quality of the paint used on it was very poor so I had to completely strip it. I also worked on sanding the primed front cowl guide coat so we could find dents that needed to be filled.

the windshield was removed Monday so it could be replaced and they found some rust that needs to be repaired before the new one is put in. He was going to fix that last night. He also worked some more on the front cowl and did some welding on the front. The car is now on the lift so he can weld underneath.

On Saturday I replaced the throwout bearing and also installed the highflow cat. The project turned from a 2 hour job to an entire day because the tranny jack died. We ended up having to rebuild it. This was one of those tranny jacks for the lift.

I worked on getting the rear bumper area (behind where the bumper sits) cleaned and taped. The welding on the front was also finished last night. I will be at the shop after work today to tape the wiring, motor, masters, etc under the hood so he can start paint under the hood this weekend. I'm happy that the car is making progress. The tentative finish date is Aug 31.
