I have comprehensive insurance so hopefully all works out. I'll let you know what the adjuster says after he sees the car this afternoon. I have a $500 deductible so that is my out of pocket. The stones varied in size up to just over an inch. The RX is covered in dimples but the aren't very deep and you have to look at it in the sunlight to even see them. It is nice the the metal is a little thicker than the newer cars.
My boss was driving his daughter's '05 Subaru and it looks like a golf ball. The BMW's next door also looked really bad.

So the adjuster thinks that most of the damage can be fixed paintless dent repair. The bumper and left headlight lid will need to be repaired and painted. His total estimate was $1700 but we will see that the paint places say I think it is going to be more.
My new driveshaft came in from Mazdatrix. I plan to swap it out tomorrow. I will also be replacing the rear tranny seal.

I do need a car cover but I don't think that would have helped this time. I was at work and it was sunny all day. Black clouds rolled in and it was hailing in a matter of minutes. All we could do was watch out the windows at our cars getting destroyed.

Car is going into the shop on June 9th. I'll let everyone know how it turns out.
I'm going to be working on the tune this weekend as well as getting the drive shaft in. It rained on and off all last weekend.

For that car to have survived 29 years, to then be fully restored to the condition you worked so hard to achieve, then have this happen? Something aint right in this world!!? Is this karma getting you back? Have any skeletons in your closet?
If you've got enough wear to require a new drive shaft, chances are your transmission mounts are shot too. I replaced mine at the same time as my drive shaft (also from Mazdatrix). Might as well have a good look while you're down there changing the shaft.

Looks like the car is going to take longer than planned. I was supposed to get the car back beginning of next week. PDR says they can't get to the back side of dents so the car will need a repaint. The paint shop is in contact with the insurance company and is waiting for the adjuster to go out to the shop. I will post as soon as I hear back.

I replaced the motor mounts and tranny mount when I fist got the car in 2010-2011.
Just read through the whole thread and my jaw dropped when I got to the hail part. Previous poster nailed it - after all of that work and then a storm like that hits! Unbelievable. Totally amazing job (and documentation), I can't wait to do this to my '79!

Thanks,
The car is painted and will be done on Friday. When I talked to the paint shop about an hour ago, paint was drying. I can't wait to see the car.

I will get some updated pics this weekend. The car is going back to the shop on Friday for a little paint touch up and final buffing. The paint shop smashed one of the 80s bosch fog lights and cracked the second. I was able to pick up a replacement set on ebay that they are paying for.
I need to set up a time for the pin stripe to be put on.

It's been a while. Life got in the way.
Overall the paint looks good. I really need to buff the car out good. I'm going to have to do some serious cleaning of overspray under the car. They got over spray on all my newly painted suspension parts. Overall I'm really not happy with the quality of the work.
My heater control valve was leaking so I pulled the dash and replaced it. At the time, I didn't think the heater core was leaking so I put the dash back in. Well the heater core started leaking. I had to pull the dash back out and replace that 2 weeks ago. I now have good working heat.
Next on the list is an exhaust leak and hard cold starts.

I just replaced my battery. The old one was still good, just not strong enough. I'm going to save it for the Galaxie.
The old battery is a Deca and has 630 CA and 550 CCA. The new in an Interstate MEGA-TRON PLUS with 800 CA and 640 CCA. I really hope this fixes my cold start problem, I think it will. Every time it gets below 20 deg F, the car barely turns over. This morning was 34 so I really didn't get to test it but it did start faster than it ever has.
I also got a replacement cruise control switch but I haven't has a chance to install it yet.

I haven't been on here much but there isn't much to update.
The car is running good now. I found a vacuum leak at the cold start assist under the intake but in the process I broke the black plastic valve associated with the BAC system. I'm all fixed now. I believe I need to adjust the dashpot because the idle drops when I let off the gas for a second or two but comes right back up.
I also need to replace my struts because they are making noise. I'm going to be spending april detailing the car since I drove it through the winter and it needs a good deep clean.
