Yeah unfortunately you would need to move the whole FB strut tube portion down (but keep the spring perch where you have it) to make that work. There's plenty of room between the bottom of the strut assembly and the top of the ball joint though so it's doable, just more cutting and welding lol. Maybe when you have him correct your steering shaft he can do it. Might not even need those helper springs when you're done...

I've thought about the moldings, but still can't decide. Trying to take the molding off if installed again will most likely ruin the paint in that area. I like the clean look with them off, but also kinda miss the moldings. If I could find a way to get them on just to see what it looks like I might consider putting them on again. Any ideas without harming the paint?

I definitely have been. Done quite a bit to the car this year alone lol. Well, it's safe to say the vert wheels are just temps. Something else coming.

What about using some clear masking tape to hold the molding on for a couple minutes to take pics and help ya decide? like for the door molding use 4 or 5 pieces vertically evenly spaced across the molding. it shouldn't harm the paint. but as for putting them on permanently and deciding to take them off later with out harming the paint...i have no idea. but my idea should give you an idea of what it'll look like. just do it to one side and leave the other side alone. and walk back and forth around the car until you decide Haha

 

im planing on going turbo with my 12a is there anyplace that sells turbo parts for my fb or do i have to fab everything?

That will pretty much be all fabrication. My whole engine setup/subframe is all fabricated to work with the car. Lots of money, time, and swearing here and there..

Thanks man! Well the housings seem to be doing fine. Car pulls as hard as it did when we dynoed it. Good housings and goopy seals .

I got it tuned right lol. Make sure no vacuum leaks either. I recently had all intake powedercoated and had to mess with the throttle body butterflies after reinstalling(they wouldnt close properly. Gap between the butterfly and throttle body wall). It caused the car to idle at like 1200-1400... changed a butterfly out and some more tweaking and the car will idle at 850rpm all day.

I've been busy with the car still. Some new additions also i'll update shortly. Was out of town enjoying vacation.

I ended up getting the door panels redone. Just the top vinyl part needed to be done. It ripped away from the cloth like a lot of 81-83 panels do.

Old lame vinyl covering that was just cover up.

Also, I decided to get the intake powdercoated so the paint wouldn't chip anymore. All gloss black. All silicone couplers are black now too. Need to get a current engine bay pic.



It was time to get rid of the temp wheels. Went with BBS RS 16x7 +33 / 16x8.5 +27 with BFG KDW 205/45/16 front and 225/45/16 rear. Everyone and their mom does black with polished lips these days. So, I went with gunmetal lol.

Still having some sort of charging issue. I don't know where to look. Dead battery again and noticed some acid on the side of the battery and when taking the battery out. Car isn't overcharging. Right around 13 volts at all times. Guess I'll get a optima to fix the spills. Not sure about losing battery power over time though.. something must be giving off power after ignition is in "off" position.

After the fall weather recently just a few days. Before I was turbo and had the 13b sidedraft carb setup I had a costco kirkland battery that lasted 4 years! In Vegas! Never took the battery cables off either unless I needed to for safety while working on the car. Redtop optima battery installed now in the car.

So, things i've added since I've gone turbo are the haltech ecu and guages. I think that's it I didn't do the haltech install though so I don't know there. I know the stereo is installed correct. Wired up the same since old carb setup which lasted with same battery for 4 years. I do have the wiring setup still for the taurus efan. Just the main plug unhooked. I went back to clutch fan since it cools way more.

Guages are simple. Wired up to turn on with ignition, got power, got ground.

As for your dead battery issue, What Alternator do you run? If it's an S5 then the S terminal needs to run to a constant 12v source (the alt post itself is a convenient place) otherwise the battery will die in a few days. I failed to do this initially and had the same problem.

Digging the wheel tire combo. I have thought about just redrilling my axles and rotors to 4x100. I still have access to a set of wheel adapters. I don't know yet. I would hate to give up my 'ol ROH Snipers

As far as my current brake setup, I am running cross drilled and slotted rotors with EBC green pads. No need for anything more. I have way better brakes then tires

Good to know Sam. I found out that while doing the subframe/big brake swap I didn't really have much front brakes before I did the swap even though they seemed to grab good. That's what I thought. When we initially installed the new 4 pot front calipers and tried to bleed them they wouldn't bleed. We took out the brake master cylinder and the front right line was pretty dry when we took the brake line off and the left drivers side dripped just a little bit. Rebuilt the master cylinder and the brakes bled like new.

Scary thought. I had a turbo 1st gen with not so good brakes lol.

I haven't really done much to the car since I last updated. I drive it around 1-3 times a week. I like it that way though. I get to enjoy the experience more and enjoy the car I've put together and wanted. It is tough to fully enjoy knowing its turbo rotary.

I will sell the autobahns soon. Good luck getting past the local guys lined up though
