Nice! Love your car man!

Once you go single you'll wonder why you didn't do it to begin with.

What turbo are looking at?

I'm looking at upgrading my turbo to a S366 (currently have a GT35R) but haven't made up my mind yet.

Well shes still kickin... Havent had time to tinker or even drive it much in the past year or so. Bought my first house so that has been keeping me busy (and poor).

I did however throw some 4.88 gears in this spring along with a nice over-done LSD, and did some little tweaks. Got rid of the out of place Blitz gauge so everything is Defi now

Here are some pictures from my friends shop:

After that, I applied for collector car status and was approved! Makes insurance approximately 60% the cost of my previous pleasure insurance, and has no limitations. Sweet!

Took her out for what I think was the first wash of the year tonight, and that called for a little photoshoot!

Only a small update, but my thread was getting a bit lonely!

Still hoping to go for that big single, but I think it might be a couple more years now.

Anyways, hope yall enjoy the pics!

Cheers!

Sure thing! It was a lot of 4am nights with a pair of factory service manuals, but in the end it wasn't too bad.
Feel free to PM me!

I gotta say your car makes me feel a little nostalgic. Had big plans for this guy, but had to sell it when I bought the house

somehow i missed this build. good lord, your car looks muscular - it conjures memories of Joe Piscapo from back in the day - veins bulging! i'm sending you a urine/fuel specimen cup.

seriously, this is a bad *** build! clean and very respectable (considering your self-proclaimed non-mechanical skills - too modest, by the way). there are quite a few things that caught my eye, but i think the custom sub-frame and rear fender work are awesome. great job!

on a totally different note: i see a couple of you guys have changed your screen names.

Just realized Its been ages since I've posted in here!
Since my last post: I have moved a couple times, got married and had a kid! Worked on lots of house stuff over the years, built a few old Suzuki bikes (because thats all I could afford) but am now just finishing up an FB w/ an Altezza 3S-GE engine (something reliable so I can go real dumb on this car).
My daughter is a year and a half old now so I am finally getting the odd night out in the garage. Sold all my bikes this spring and bought some cool new equipment (including a 2 post lift), so things can get serious.

Just figured I should drop in to say the car is still kickin', but the plan is a long term rebuild starting this winter. Fresh engine, bodywork, paint, etc.. Ultimate goal is about 600 to the wheels and numerous other stupid ideas.

I fully rebuilt a TII trans (which is now a regret after buying a big turbo), and amassed some parts over the years like a Turblown cast manifold, S366-SXE (9180), Turblown stud kit, AEM coils, and some ProMeth components. Just need some porting templates and seals and I can begin. Hope to have it back on the road in a year or two, I suspect the next update will be much more exciting.

Here are some snapshots over the last few (and what happens when you wrench while drinking, haha). The Steelies were a short lived experiment. Looked cool but just didn't fit the car as well as I would have liked.

Thanks for checking in!

Cheers,
Alex

Thanks!
It's a dream come true.

I built the car on a gravel pad, working through rain and snow.. My last house had a decrepit single car garage with plywood barn doors which was a great upgrade!

My wife liked the current place and I couldn't argue with a 900sf attached garage! I must say the lift has been an absolute delight:

If anyone is interested in the car on the lift: my other build (3S-GE FB) is here:
https://www.rx7club.com/other-engine...plete-1146558/

Keep on truckin!

Well, I was dreading the thought of cutting this car up for a back-half... I was just about ready to pull it off the road and then something popped up locally to save the day! At the moment, the plan is to leave this car as-is and build a new chassis to beastly proportions. There wont be much to report on this car so new build thread to come!

Engine build happening very soon and then things get serious.

Studded, goopy seals, and some special sauce.

Here's my take on a big street port. Started off with pineapple race port template but dialed it back a bit so the leading edge of the side seal has extra support.

This is my first full 13B rebuild, hoping for a professional result and gobs of power. Wish me luck!

Also, here is something I wasn't positive could be done:
Full 4" stainless exhaust, routed over the axle (no clearance issues). Win!

Engine is.. still "just about ready" to be wired up.

Currently working on the fuel system. Bosch 044 lift pump feeding the radium surge tank which contains an E5LM. In order to keep the fuel and passenger compartment separate, I opted to build a containment box:

Also working to complete the interior. Ditched all the gauges in favor of an iC-7:

Got the wiring all completed in October but started a major home reno, so progress has been slow. Oh well, its winter here anyway.

Only a couple days worth of work left to complete the mechanicals, then I can start on the body/paint. Still trying to decide on a color, leaning towards bright green or a racing livery.

Recently ordered some Re-Amemiya vent panels in an attempt to recreate the oldschool louvered hood look, Lemans 254 aero mirrors, and new tires. 335/35/17.. Hope they fit...

Shooting for a 2023 completion

Thanks! Definitely not the most action packed or exciting build thread, but its fun to look back at the evolution over the years.

I'm at a point in life where the car doesn't NEED to be back on the road quickly, so I find myself doing every project 2-3 times before it turns out how I like it, and that's okay! There is some light peeking through at the end of the tunnel, just hope the driveline survives a summer.

I love your build.

Really clean work, love the fuel system details very well put together, I am sure you are loving having the lift!!

I think your car could totally pull off a racing type livery or at least pick a base colour that would work for a livery and use vinyl for the rest which you can remove easily.

You will need to post some videos for us in the Spring!

Thanks! Will definitely try to get some vids once she hits the road.

Aero mirrors just showed up:

Pretty pumped!!!

ETA is 4-6 weeks on the louvers and then the bodywork begins.

Had to slice a few inches out of the lateral vents and glass 'em back together but I think its going to work out!

Its not going to be exactly like the ARC hood, so definitely one of a kind.
