Looking good! To put the FD UIM on, did you elongate a few holes and port match the LIM? I don't see the usual spacer that guys make on your pics, that's why I ask. Once I get my MS3 up and running I plan to go with the FD UIM and TB as well...

 

yes that is how i did it. theres a few pics of it i think on the first or second page. it was much easier than i was expecting.

worked on the car a little bit the last couple days, drilled a hole in the firewall, started running the megasquirt harness's, mounted the ecu in the glovebox, made a bracket for the fc fusebox, mounted my battery tray behind the passenger seat. tomorrow i strip the stock harness of all the unneeded wiring and start hooking up some of the engine sensors.

yes i am using the s4 trans, ill take a few more pics and writeup a little info on how i made it.

 

not to question you but are u sure u have an s4 and not an s5 tranny? i thought the s4 had a flat horizontal mounting surface on the tranny while the s5 had it angled on either side (like the pic of your modified tranny mount, top section)?

that is...unless i'm mistaken and have an s5 tranny instead of an s4 sitting in the garage.

matt, can you do me a favor and take a measurement for me please. i'm looking for the length from the front of the bellhousing to where the mount is bolted to (mine's about 22 1/8 in). i'd like to compare this to the tranny i have...trying to figure out what i'll be doing to mount it and if possibly do something just like u did. thanks.

 

measure to the mount center? or the closest of the mount bolts to the end of the bellhousing?

 

sorry, just noticed ur mount does bolt via 4 bolts...so i am looking for the center of it (where that big bolt is on the mount itself). thx

 

i cut off the big center bolt on mine but its about 22 1/8" as well, i just welded a piece channel to the bottom of the trans mount, the set that on top of the fb trans crossmember, lined it up and tacked it in place.

 

Just to chime in, that is definitely an S5 trans (or at least the tail shaft housing is). As others mentioned, the S4 has a flat trans mount, similar to that of an FB, the S5 has the angled mount like the one pictured

 

just a thought on the battery relocation. Check the size of the battery, once you re install the storage bins you might not be able to remove the battery without also removing those bins.

so now the real fun begins..........

so far i have removed most of the wiring the i didnt need, and have fixed many wiring issues with it. it appears someone had attached a ground to 12v+ because there were like 6 half melted ground wires that had been ghetto fixed. i did a full wire removal and replacement and now have great grounds.

im going to do this mod too just to help out my electrical system.

i havnt updated that last couple days but i did get a few things done. finished all my fixing and modification of the body harness, pulled the gas tank and started making my intank sump and cup. got the battery and circuit breaker mounted. few other small misc things. if anyone has any ideas on sump cup design you should let me know what you think would work best, im still deciding how i want to do it.




flushing out the gas tank with soap and water. then let it sit in the sun for a while.


cut the hole for my intank setup, started drawing a sump cup (ive since changed my design)

 

I used the cup and mounting ring from a cut up FC tank and it works great. If you're set on making your own I would just copy the FC parts...

 

thats pretty much what im going to do it think, at least with the sump cup. i want an fittings coming out of the tank tho, so ill do the pump hanger assm. a little different.

 

Ah ok, yeah AN fittings are nice. I went with the budget method and just kept it all stock (stock for an FC that is)

 

yeah i do like an fittings, ill prolly get a an -6 to barb adapter and hook it up to the steel lines for now. i dont wanna drop the $$ on ss hose right now.
