I can remove, install engine, etc but when it comes to wiring, i'm a total newb. tia.

edit: sorry, you can PM me so I don't thread jack. thx
ill try to explain it the best i can. basically how i start wiring is first find the wiring diagrams than your ecu manufacturer made. im going to be using the ms3 with the ms3x daughter board so my wiring diagrams are these:

Main Plug

MS3x Plug

heres a good link that explains megasquirt wiring, most standalones are very similar wiring wise.

then you have to figure out what sensors you are going to use and how to wire them. when using stock mazda sensors you can find all the wiring pinouts in the mazda wiring diagrams.

the stock sensors im using are:

CAS
FD TPS
T2 knock sensor (hopefully, i haven't looked to see if it will work with the ms3 yet)
FD IAC

aftermarket sensors:

GM 3bar map sensor
GM closed element coolant temp sensor
GM open element air temp sensor

after you figure out all your pinouts cut off all the connectors that you will need plug them into the engine and start running wires. if you have any other questions feel free to post in this thread.

Morning Matt, Got a S5 turbo over the weekend. It has a little shaft end play, so I'm going the rebuild it. Did you rebuild your turbo? If so where did you source the parts? Did you port the waste gate, your going 3" exhaust?

I didnt rebuild mine, its was in near new condition so i decided to rock it. I didnt port the wastegate because im not gunna be running it long enough to care about creep. im going to upgrade to a large t4 turbo pretty quick. and yes full 3" exhaust.

BUILD UPDATE:

Brought the car to shop, removed the old engine/tranny. My 13b turbo swap is about to start

going to order my clutch tomorrow. ive decided to get a spec stage 3 6 puck. with all luck it will come by friday so i can get the engine/tranny mounted this weekend.

Ive been making little bits of progress lately but nothing big yet. started cleaning the engine bay and pulling the engine bay wiring. would have test fit the engine but i needed 2 more pressure plate bolts, so that had to wait.

Heres the shop the owner of the company i work for lets me use and my daily driver.

Got a few things done yesterday. finished my oil drain line and got my clutch installed. i started to unloom my engine bay wiring and found that there are a few melted wires in there that someone ghetto taped up then re-loomed. so i have a lot of bullshit to fix now haha.

Its worth it, enjoying my Respeed Rack and Pinion setup. Front end does make so binding noises sometimes.

Great thread, you're doing real nice work on that swap. I'll second your comment about the welder being mans best friend, they're handy as hell! I'm doing a MS3/MS3X on my T2 FB at some point this year (I built the ecu, just haven't had time to wire it into the car and tune etc) so I'll be interested to see how it works out for you.
Good luck!

Got a couple things accomplished today, made my trans mount, got the rubber boot installed around the shifter, hooked up my clutch slave and bled it. also put my upper intake on just to see how it looks. tomorrow im going to hopefully cut the new wiring harness hole, mount my ecu and run the harness's so i can start wiring.
