It passed the Missouri inspection, once they welded up a hole in the exhaust and replace the idler arm. Yeah.
The bad news is it is still not titled. The title my friend gave me turns out to not be the newest title on the car. There is apparently a newer one from ten years ago. That would have been when my friend's father died. I've asked if the new(er) title is amongst death certificate and other paperwork generated when someone dies. Luckily his mom is still alive to sign for the new duplicate title we may have to apply for, in Kentucky, we are all in St. Louis MO now.
I contacted Kentucky and got the info required to get a duplicate title from them. My friend's mum, who is on the original title has signed and had notarized everything, so hopefully in a week or two I'll have the Kentucky title so I can get my Missouri title.
It had been running terrible, but I finally got a timing light on it, and it was way advanced. Visualize the distance between the leading and trailing marks, the leading was at least twice that. Once that was set, the trailing was way retarded. I've got that back to set, but people more in the know say that's wrong.
I have a new set of points on order. I checked the vacuum advancers and they are not stuck. I read that the dwell can affect the timing.
I just replaced the fuel filter, will see if that helps too.
Replaced, and gapped the points and it is much better. I did notice that the base plate the points attach to has a little play around the shaft. If I move it side to side, it changes the gap on the points.
I got that analyzer for dwell, and such and will play with that this weekend, but I must say, I'm enjoying the car, and getting about 20mpg too.
The good times couldn't last. the Engine has got a really bad "leak of Death". I can watch it seep. So, I'm plowing forward and am pulling the engine to rebuild.
I started taking things off while the engine is still in the car because i didn't have crane. Found one and engine stand on OfferUp for $150. I've got the kit from Atkins and the engine stand adapter.

Oh, What is the size of bolts required to mount the engine to the stand? I thing the four bolts that came with the adapter are to attach the adapter to the stand.
Cool tip, puppy pads are great for handling all the dripping of oil and antifreeze.
Finally got the exhaust off. JB Blaster worked on some nuts others required a little more
I took a propane torch to the nuts on the presilencer. worked on one. gave up and took my dremel to the other one.
i removed what looked like heat protective cloth, and found the compression bolt holding the lower pipe to the main pipe. jb blaster and the torch and it would not budge. I Took a dremel to that too, which I know will be an issue later as I cant put that nut back together.
I have been doing a bit of work over the winter, and am reassembling the engine now
I've also posted a few short time lapse videos on youtube of me assembling. No real educational value. I will say, remember when assembling, the front is on the bottom, dont put the rear rotor and housoing on first. that will slow you down having to take all that stuff off
