I bought a plastic Tee fitting from Napa. Works great!
I seem to remember someone here removing the pressed in fitting and threading the iron to accept some I-don't-remember-the-size AN fitting.

I have a need to do the same thing to the Atkins rebuilt engine I'm gonna use on my 79 to make the lines I have work... Of course, the simpler idea is the second tee fitting.

I've seen a few threads where people have cracked a rear iron by doing what you just suggested. The iron is weak there and can't handle anything more than the original pressed in steel tube.

My advice: leave it alone! Get yourself a plastic or metal Tee fitting instead.

Since you guys brought this back to the top, I might as well mention I'm building a second one of these for a guy. The first one in the brown car turned out so amazingly well I figured why not. This way you guys can follow along with your builds. https://www.rx7club.com/build-thread.../#post11952067

Just a quick look at how the direct fire ignition is holding up over the years.

That engine bay is amazing!!! How does the car run and drive? Are you painting the rest of the car CYM to match what the previous owner did under the hood?
