So Ive been limited to working on the 7 on the weekends but im still coming through with that good ****. I finished up the welds on the bash bar and powder coated it with an eastwood gun, I'm hoping this stuff doesn't chip off like spray paint.
The driveshaft I'm using is a 2 piece from the BMW ZF trans, I had it shortened and swapped out the U-joint to mate to the rx8 limited slip.
I also made a little brake booster delete plate, cheaper than buying a new booster and should free up some room in the bay.

Oh yeah, I got some eagle rods and 11.5/1 87.5mm forged pistons for the s52. Maybe overkill for an NA build but they were the same price as OEM.
And here's the good stuff.. I picked up some Avery auto wrap film that matched the black paint perfectly. So far I've wrapped the flares, scoop, front finish panel and the doors.

This week on how to ruin an RX7... I build a floor pan, apply some primer, seam sealer and some bed liner stuff called Lizard Skin.
Rerouted the filler neck on the miata fuel tank to fit in the factory gas cap location. Also I used the old power plant frame form the RX8 to make a solid diff mount
Here you see an old steel cabinet being repurposed as a floor pan, amazing!

What up ya'll, been meaning to post these updates for months but kept getting tied up. The car's pretty much running and "almost" driving, ill get some vids up soon. For now enjoy some nasty piston images..
Here's the spec list so far:
-87.5mm 11.5:1 wiseco pistons
-eagle forged rods
-standard oem bearings
-VAC upgraded oil pump
-bmw headgasket
-obviously all new bmw chains, seals and gaskets
and here's the entire e36 chasing and engine harness trimmed down to the essentials for a street car

The factory steering angle was complete trash so I chopped the knuckles down 25mm. There's now 44 degrees of angle, still not great but nearly double what the factory RX8 suspension provided.
I mounted the battery in the rear and added an external kill switch. It'd be nice to have some scales to dial in the weight distribution but its in a good location for now.
The interior is looking decent, could use some carpet tho.

That's amazing!! There are some really wild builds on here with some serious ingenuity and creativity and this is one of them. Love it. I almost spit my cofffee out when I read your statement "on this episode of how to ruin an RX-7".... funny stuff! I too am looking forward to seeing some pics or vids of this thing in action.

I'm subscribing to this one as well, super glad to see the amount of fab work you're undertaking. If I had a bigger garage/shop setup I'd be contemplating some tomfoolery like this.

Hopefully It'll see more drift events than anything but Ill for sure be going on the pancake cruise if you've heard of that.
