I can't believe I haven't seen this thread before now.
There is a guy in an E30 powered FB that goes surfing near my house all the time. I took a couple pics of his car when he was out there but I haven't gotten an engine shot yet. It's not pretty, but you should hear the thing though. Next time I see him, I'll ask him to pop the hood.

He's been driving it for years. Lemme see if I can find a pic or two...

I got around to making some shock towers the other day, since the rears bolt on halfway up the shock Ill need to figure a way to tie in the shock tops to the cage as well. I stuck with basic shapes to tie in the subframe rails to the fender wells with sheet metal.

This is the transmission mount I made when I had the s52 in my miata, it fit up nicely with new brackets and will leave plenty of room for the mid pipes. I also fit up the fuel tank with some rudimentary brackets that weren't really worth a picture.. The tank is from a 1.6 miata with a walbro 255 pump.

BMW powered fb-iuxftik.jpg

I picked up some 17x9 RAYS Prodrives as they cleared the 67.1mm hub centric ring, but I think they poke out a little too much.

Up next is a proper steering rack. The miata rack didn't have enough travel and with the RX8 factory suspension ill need to find something close to the 6" of travel from the RX8 EPS rack.BMW powered fb-epkrr2z.jpg

Wow that is a very slanty engine. Never really seen it from strait on, there is always that pesky radiator in front.

You've got some serious skills and time. Right on!!!

Well after about 2 months of mix matching steering racks I decided to go with an '88 FC rack. It has half an inch less travel than the RX8 rack but it mates to the miata column spline, clears the oil pan and outer tie rods are the same. I had some stainless 2" tie rod spacers made and paired them with some Megan FC outer tie rods to reach the wider RX8 knuckles. The bump steer is still pretty bad so I'm thinking lowered and shortened knuckle mounts should finish it off.

I had to cut out some subframe to fit the miata column linkage.

Since the FB apparently has a truck steering box, I needed something to mate an open tube to the rack and pinion. The fb column uses a press in plastic needle bearing on the top half so the column rod just slides out, welding on the bottom half of a miata column provided the spline to complete the linkage.

They're Autokonexion V2 flares from an NA miata, they fit really well. I'd be interested to see if the miata Tuckin 99 flares wrap around the lower body as those are a bit wider...

This makes me want to go get an fb. I know its all about the journey but I can't wait to see this thing completed. I agree with a slightly larger rear flare but that's minor in the grand scheme. Keep up the awesome work.

I saw another car on here with the Tuckin99 flares, they look sick! Are you using the NA fronts as well?

Cool! I want to get flares for my car soon but not really sure which ones to get, also I like the idea of running 17s or 18s, I may try that too

The M3 radiator came in last week so I started fabbing up the tube front/ core support. It was $163 with an 18" fan, the welds look decent as well. if you're wondering about ebay quality, I've had these aluminum radiators on my miatas for years with zero issues. They look like debranded mishimotos to me.

The front miata fender flares look amazing. They hug the contour down to the body lines, its like they were made for the fb. The soft curve of these flares is a nice contrast to the boxy lines of the 80's body design. I'm also using the mustang hood scoop the PO had installed but moved it 8" forward to cover the massive straight 6.

The core support has been a challenge as there are 4 separate pieces to the bumper that will need tabs. I've chosen a rectangular headlight from a 3000gt that will be mounted static for simplicity.

Right!? I originally wanted to swap on the smaller base model RX8 brakes to run 16's or possibly 15's but this fitment turned out damn good. Its got a JGTC vibe to it (or super GT I think)

This is basically it, the head is just sitting on a hollow block for test fitting. Besides the wheels, I didn't hand pick any of this. The whole car is made up of parts I had lying around. Its the RX7.5 and it looks ******* rad.

What wheels did you go with? I'm gonna leave the body stock.. maybe a small whale tail thing for the rear but I like the factory bullet looking profile.

I decided to use the mustang hood scoop that came with the shell, just had to move it forward 8" to clear the valve cover.
