T04Z Street Build - White/Black/Polished FD
Ok, so throughout this winter, I have been stockpiling the necessary parts for my build. I suppose first I should give a little history of my machine.
It's a 93 R1 painted Chaste white. Vin code is VR. Plus you can tell from the engine bay as the last owner didn't do a very good job painting it out of a rattle can. I bought the car around Halloween of 2010 from an Air Force guy in Louisiana. I was still stationed in Alaska at the time but I'm from the Dallas area so my dad went and picked it up for me. It was already single turbo and had a pretty decent list of parts but they guy couldn't get it runing right.
Street Ported by Jose Rotary
Greddy T78 turbo kit but 25G was traded for the smaller 20G
FDO injector Driver
850 primaries & 1600 Secondaries
Rx7store fuel rail
RP race fuel pump
HKS twin power ignition
Custom Vmount set up with Bar and Plate intercooler
Custom (chopped up) down pipe
RE-A Dolphin Tale exhaust
RE-A AW7 wheels
Exedy twin plate clutch
PFC just laying on the pass. floor board
DG-5 Coilovers
Braile Race Battery relocated to pass. rear bin (replaced twice already)
Came with an Apexi AVC-R but was never installed.
Once we got the car home we realized that the fuel system was leaking and it was having trouble running on both rotors at times. The injector Driver was toast. Bought a new one. Plus the fuel injection system had about 78 miles of extra wire to and from each injector. The solder joints were about the size of a quarter with electrical tape covering them. Plus fuel was leaking from the rails turning the electrical tape into bubble gum. Surprisingly, there was no engine fire.
We immediately went to work cutting out all of the wiring and rewiring damn near the entire engine bay. You could also shake the turbo as it was not bolted down. The LIM gasket was upside down. And the intercooler pipes tooks some "massaging" before it would ever run right.
With all of that in the works, I wanted to address the cigarette burned seats as well. Had them redone. In fact, we redid the entire interior. New floor mats, seats redone, shift boot, ebrake boot, dash speaker gauge pod, installed the AVC-R in the glove box, and fixed the broken pass. door handle.
Here are some pics of the first go round:

Early on
Finished interior. Kind of...
Interior came out great but the door panels got F'ed. How could someone do such a nice job on the seat and destroy the door panels?

Last Year
So after all said and done, the car ran and drove wonderfully. It dyno'd 340 whp and 289 lb/ft of tq over at RP in Garland, Tx. Chris did a wonderful job with the tune.
In August of 2011 I PCSed from Alaska and moved to Florida. Made a pit stop in Texas to my parents' house to pick up my FD and take her with me. In the last three years, I have put less than 5K on the odometer. I only take it out about once a week, if that.
But, the car still had some issues. The "custom" intercooler set up had the front relay box just hanging upside down. Every time I washed it, water would run down the wires and the head lights would CRAZY. The horn didn't really work and the lights were always a bit finicky. I had been want to do a T04Z build for a while but never really financially could make it happen.
In August of 2012, I deployed again and had leave her in my garage all buttoned up. After my return, I had more issues from the car sitting.
I ripped off the pass. door handle
Oil leaks
coolant leaks
cracked p/s pump pully
dead battery
and driver's side door speaker cutting in and out
So I decided to tear into her again.

tear down #2
Will post more pictures later... Good 'ol third world country bandwidth issues not allowing me to attach pics right now.
Sit tight for pics of the second tear down and pics of tons of parts to include a side by side comparison of a T04Z and GTX35R.

tear down 2
So now that I have some bandwidth. Here are some more pictures.
Fixed the door handle, relocated the front fuse box, ABS delete, painted calipers, painted water pump, alternator, water housing "modified" and painted, P/S pump bracket painted, tucked more wires, replaced a few bad relays, dropped the front of the radiator about 1 1/2 inches, and got new aluminum pulleys. I ordered anodized black but purple showed up. The more I looked at it, the more I liked it. I also replaced some crush washers and coolant system gaskets. I relocated the AST and few other things like the boost solenoid, FDO, and other stuff. I also put in a new Braile battery with a battery tender so I'm not going through batteries anymore.
Runs like a champ now. Did some donuts in it for my nephew when I dropped it back off in Texas for the T04Z build. Had to roast what was left of the tires. And don't worry, my dad lives in the middle of nowhereville, just outside of Dallas. No one was around for the fun.

T04Z Time
So that brings us to the now. Here is what my build is going to consist of.
T04Z 1.00 A/R
Water/Meth Injection (still needing)
rx7store V-mouth
" " manifold
" " SS Downpipe
MVR waste gate
TIAL BOV
SPEC Stage 3+ clutch
Banzai Oil Pan Brace
" " Transmission cross member
" " Differential brace
Exterior mounted Bosh .044
Black braided fuel lines and fittings
Xcessive LIM (ordered, on the way)
Rotary Works Throttle Body
AEM Smart Coils and wires
19 Row dual oil cooler w/ black braided lines (still need to order)
FEED side skirts
99 spec wing
FEED hood (still need to order)
I'm sure there is more with that list. I have most everything already. I having the transmission and rear end rebuilt in the process. Gears 2, 3 and 5 are starting to grind. Understandable at 120k on the chassis. The wheels are getting refinished by Dallas Wheel. I'm going to wrap them in Falken Azenis 615K 275/40R17 rear and 235/40R17 front. The engine bay is going to be painted and most all wires will be tucked. The LIM, UIM, and compressor side of the turbo are going to be sent out for polishing. The entire engine bay will be white, black, and polished with a little red thrown in here and there. Should come out nicely.
Here are some pics of the parts floating around my parents' place. They're starting to pile up. Pay no mind to the "other" manifold. It's for my brothers Nissan RB25 S13 Drift build.

And the setback
Although I may have laughed about this, this is going to set us back a little bit. Got to love the cold.
The last two pics are of the current build which is being buttoned up now, other than the ceiling problem setting back the wizard. Feel free to point and laugh. My engine bay will be just as clean but with less... color.
So, that is about it for now. Car is about to go up on the lift and start being ripped apart. Keep an eye out for my upcoming FS thread. Going to have tons of great parts being sold off so they aren't sitting around wasting space.
Feel free to comment or bash. This should be a good build. Going for 500+. Steve Khan is going to tune it for us. I do want to get some opinions on the upper manifold and what there is available with it as far as modifications to allow better airflow. I think we are going to open up the upper two throttle body areas and then port the lower. Don't want water/meth accumulating here either. Have to do something with it so the Xcessive Lower is actually worth something.

I hope so. Everything is coming out shortly. Its being built just on the other side of Rockwall. Not too far from you.
Should have more pictures of parts soon.

Xcessive LIM
Figured out the UIM too. Not going to be pro-jay (I wish) but we are going to "mod" the factory one. Should be decent.

Well done build so far with tasteful mods!
One thing worth mentioning about the Xcessive LIM is the fitment from stock. It pushes the UIM forward about an inch, so the oil filler neck, primary to secondary fuel rail line and intercooler piping may need some adjustments.

If the weather would clear up and quit snowing and being so damn cold, maybe we could get it torn apart....
