Thought I might as well start one of these more or less to just track my work and have a reference to look back at. Anyway car is a 93 FD. It has made its way around the U.S. And many of you may probably know it by now. But not gonna show the exterior or engine till I get there so you will have to wait. I started working on the interior parts and building quite a large parts horde which you will see as it gets installed to not give away any secrets. Will get it started in the next post.

As I said I am working on the interior. I decided to work my way from the back forward. First I removed a bunch of foam one of the previous owners thought would be a great way to fill in the spare tire hole.

Then bondo that they thought would smoothen out the trunk.

Anyway hated it all and removed it all what a pain.

Looks way better IMO. Even bought myself a nice carpet to put back there later on. Anyway next is wires... And that nasty stock sticky electrical tape. Stay tuned for updates.

Okay first post on wiring. I decided to start from the rear back removing the ABS brain since my car already had the ABS removed.

It went both ways and ends up under the dash on the passenger side as its own connector will have to work on pulling that out once the dash is out. The driver side has a lot more wiring. Had to remove the Cusco roll bar to get the B pillar plastics out. Also removed the rear speakers and brackets at this time. The car is LOUD lol and I figured I won't be able to hear anyway so might as well simplify the loom. And here is where I am at now will update when I have more time to get more done.

Looks like fun! Glad to see your saving the car, always a good feeling getting all the "mods" previous owners put in cars.

Small little update. Got the dash out and started working on the wiring.

I messed up and pulled the whole shifter and dropped a bunch of the turret fluid under the car so will have to refill before I put the shifter back on. Does anyone know if I can just fill it through the shifter since its just a little? Anyway moving on removed the wiring for the radio and defrost today just have to find a plug for the antenna and it can come out. More to come as I have more time!

Small little update but a lot of work done. Pulled the fenders and the bumper off. It was not fun as the side skirts were riveted on and had to be taken of first as they are the GTC sides.

Anyway have the fenders and bumper off now so get to work on the under fender wiring now. More to come soon hopefully.

This car looks familiar. If my memory serves me correctly, this car spent part of its life in New Jersey.

Yes I believe it did! It had a long journey to Hawaii and I'm trying to track down the guy who brought it here. But anyway any details you know about the car that I might not with a quick search? Trying to just learn as much about its past etc. as I can!

Another small little update. Started working on the under fender wiring. Didn't get far, and was thinking about trying to move some of it into the cabin if possible.

Will have to check as I get more of it out and sorted. Not sure if I want to pull it all the way out of what I will do but it should be interesting when it's done. I'm hoping I can at least clean some of it up as there was a bunch of unused olugs for ABS etc.

Haha it is quite "fun" haha but I always feel you get more info about how everything works and if anything breaks why when you actually look at everything. Let me know when you do tho! Can't wait to see how you do everything.

Another update. Front harness out and started labeling and pulling wires that I won't be using.

Pic was kinda late and there isn't much light but it's coming along. Will hopefully be a let o work on it more Saturday. I am thinking I will be removing the cruise control, all ABS, washer motor, headlight motors, and all AC related besides the relay. I'm planning on trying to figure something out to wire in a switch. This way I will still be able to retain all 4 relays and three fan speeds. And also if anyone is interested trying to run the switch to the AC relay so I can turn the fan on in traffic. Anyway that's it for now. If anyone has any tips please let me know.

Good work! Take your time with the wiring, that can get tricky.

For the shifter, there is just a little bit of gear oil in the top part of the transmission for the shifter linkage. It's completely separate from the main gear oil in the transmission. When you put it back together, you just need a small cup worth of gear oil, not much.

Thanks Dale that really good to know! I was really hoping I wouldn't have to change out the trans oil as I was reading it wasn't fun so that just brought me a lot of relief haha.

In lieu of the recent updates here is one. Instrument and Front harness out in front of me.

Have worked on removing cruise control, and radio and headlight flip ups as I have fixed lights. Will hopefully get to start putting things back together soon but the end of the semester is prob going to delay that. Still have to do the battery and emission harness may put those on hold until after I get the car back running. Plan on getting a new lim so when I install that I will try to do the emissions.

6-30-16 Update

Hey all been a while since I had a chance to work in everything cause school finals and started working hella along with summer school but made a little bit of progress over the past few weeks. Ended up buying new 0 gauge wire for everything starter alternator battery etc and going to be using the stock wiring pattern. Also got the carpet out to clean the interior previous owners left it a mess with random **** inside and I literally mean **** not sure which animal but it was nasty. But anyway cleaner it all up finally.

I'm 50-50 about pulling the sound deadening out right now. Anyone have a suggestion on to do or not to do I'm all ears. Anyway also decided on pulling the EL Unit and exhaust overheat sensor since I only need the light for the power FC. Still working on all the wiring so we will see how it ends up debating on separating the front harness in two right now for a cleaner look. I also am terrified because I heard a bolt or nut fall somewhere but not hit the ground and it wasn't anything I had removed in the engine bay. I had my manifold off at the time and hoping something didn't enter the engine but is there an easy way to test this? Let me know!

Tried to get some stuff done it's been a while and I'm almost done just have to extend wiring for the coil pack and fan relays and some other small stuff. Haven't got too much done been really busy but try to work on it as I can. Building up quite the parts list to install whenever I finished. Anyway figured I would replace the shifter bushings since I had it out and bought a Mazdaspeed shifter anyway.

It came with decent bushings on it but figured would buy all new and do things right the first time instead of settling. There is a good thread on here with all the parts you need. Still need to reseal the shifter turret housing. I read to use black RTV is this a good bet. Also any recommendations on gear oil brand for the turretand exact amount needed if I pull all the old oil out? That's it for now. Hopefully get some more done soon.

Just finished the emission harness. Decidied on moving fuse boxes under dash and eliminating engine harness. So rerouted the starter ground, alternator, sensor wires, etc. into the emissions harness. I still have the knock sensor wire but no knock sensor to plug into? I believe that's what the connector is.

Anyway harness follows the same path as stock so it should be hidden well hopefully. Anyway here is what it looks like.

Hopefully I can get it all together soon and hopefully it starts.
