Project D1's Project. . .lulz. . .

Going to make my own thread instead of cluttering the "Post your FD" one. . .

Previously owned a JDM FD. . .silver, no sunroof. . .awesome car but it "was not the FD I was looking for". . .

Heard of one that was a few hours away, went to check it out. . .glad I did. . .California car (no rust yesssss) high mileage with a freshly rebuilt motor that blew up the first day I had it. . .at the track

Water seal failed. . .but I still drove it every day, having to add a few litres of water every time I went somewhere. . .still pulled very strong for what it was. . .

Rebuilt the engine with a large streetport, RA seals and new bearings. . .kept the sequential setup for another year and threw in a Power FC.

Had to remove the exhaust. . .oem with a million holes in it kept pumping fumes in the cab, so I threw on a 4" no name. . .sounds awesome. . .

It all started with footworks. . .

Picked up some CCW classics - 18x12.5 rears and 18x10.5 fronts - rolled the rears and stretched the tires to accommodate them . . .

Was running KYB shocks with Racing Beat lowering springs for a while. . .poor thing rattled and squeaked in agony everywhere I went. . .all the bushings were shot to ****. . .so coilovers and bushings were brought in. . .

HSD Coilovers - Thanks to Autodream for the speedy delivery!

Comparing current to future setup. . .

The OEM bushings were clunking back and forth like rocks in a tin can. . .

Superpro Bushing goodness to the rescue. . . !

Pressing the old ones out and the new ones in. . .

1. . .ha ha ha. . .

Also picked up some new rotors, fluid and SS lines. . .

God I wish I had washed it before we took this photo. . .

Oem turbos blew up last summer, was good timing if any. . .so out it all came. . .also blew the clutch seeing how much grip 10 year old slicks had. . .slicks>2nd gear burnout. . .

It sat outside all winter, never had the time to clear all the snow away from it and there was no room in the shop. . .

Parts were finally starting to trickle in. . .

Billet Precision 67mm twinscroll 1.00 A/R. . .
Twinscroll manifold. . .
Twin 46mm Precision Wastegates. . .
3.5" Downpipe. . .

All ceramic coated. . .

Well, dash is out and waiting to get some TLC. . .plan was to remove the tan interior and replace it with black. . .

"new" hood. . .vented, not sure of the make, fits pretty well. . .

Something that's irritated me since I got into my first FD. . .The oem passenger handle sucks. . .shitty design and very weak/brittle. Sake Bomb Garage made a billet door handle. . .verry nice!

Armrest and rear compartments out. . .going to relocate the battery to the bin behind the passenger. . .

Cluster removed from the dash. . .

Dash is quite a bit heavier than it looks. . .removed the passenger airbag in hopes of something like a cupholder. . .never owned a vehicle with a cupholder. . .

All the heater system in it's glory. . .

Removed. . .

Carpet finally removed. . .

With the engine out, interior gutted, may as well start eliminating unnecessary wiring and prepping for bodywork. . .

Fenders and bumper off. . .

Origin fenders. . .holy **** they fit awesome!

Don't care for white in an engine bay. . .grubby or clean. . .

Took the pressure washer to it a few times. . .Simple Green in between. . .

Don't let anyone discourage you from anything you do. Keep up your build and build your car to YOUR specs.. not anyone else's.

Exclamation

I'll just say this once, in a general sense:

If you put up a build thread, there will bound to be people who do not like your build. Not everyone is going to like your build and we are not going to remove negative comments. However, I will not allow the "stretch fitment" guys ganging up someone who doesn't like "proper fitment". Everyone is allowed to have an opinion regardless of whether or not you agree with them.

To those who want to post negative comments, moderators WILL remove them if they are not posted with some sort of tact. This is a public forum and all posts/comments are welcome. However, posts positive or negative, they need to be written with tact and maturity.

Looks pretty slick!

I probably should have had my engine bay painted black while my motor was out..Maybe later.

That 18X10 18X12 fitment is ridiculous, man! Crazy.. Should look great with widebody fenders though! :]

Chaste White FD's FTW.

Keep up the good work.

:]

that paint is sexy!!!

I got a ride in this car once, (Dropped off motor for porting, Conroy took me out) man does this thing haul ***.. and that is with the twins installed... I'm excited/kinda apprehensive to see what this single will do...

Good job so far... I'm *curious* as to how this will run on the track after its built up
