There's no point saying again what has already been said (since we all know it's all true)...but I will say this: Gordon is one of the main reasons I stopped posting on this forum. Him and his BFF...once I realized that they're both pathological-liar sociopaths...I decided it wasn't worth the stress or wasted time.

Just read Dan's post and wanted to be serious and post what bothers me the most about Gordon's post.

Gordon
What bothers me is the blunt accusation that I've 'Cheated'. The term cheat associates with someone gaining something. For me to gain something by cheating seems ridiculous to me... as I have nothing to gain from Rich or anyone winning!! Not only that, "G" uses the term, 'them'. So its not just me, but others involved, which I have to assume those associated with DGRR. Which lead to others to assume DGRR is some sort of scam or event itself is gaining something by Rich winning the best of show.

Next thing that pisses me off is making Rich's feature seem meaningless. Rich is a friend and one of the nicest guy I know. Read what Rich did for Gordon. He lend Gordon $700 so he could come to DGRR 2011. I normally only lend money to those I truly trust, family members, and long time friends. That being said, when Gordon belittle Rich's feature and making this type of statement, I can only have negative opinion about him as a person. Who does that to someone who lends you money? And now stating and making others to think Rich's feature on a nationwide magazine to be some sort of hoax... Only because he thinks I've cheated to get him on. Its a ridiculous assumption without ZERO facts!!! Not only that, I've sat with Gordon morning after the award ceremony when I said, "Good Morning", he's response was (literally first thing came out of his mouth), "I'm Never going to come to your event!". As an organizer hearing that, I wanted to make sure what the problem was. After spending over an hour talking and listening to him, I've explained to him over and over, Ryan had nothing to do with it and Modified Mag representatives picked the Best of Show winner. Obviously, he doesn't believe the organizer of the event and through current post, he still thinks Ive cheated.

Also regarding what Dan pointed out about his win that same year... Well, lets look at this..

1994 Mazda RX-7 - 7th Heaven - Modified Magazine

Year before DGRR 2011, his car was featured on Modified Mag... And as an FD owner who also made it onto Modified Mag Cover in 2010, I really consider Dan's car to be VERY WELL put together car. Obviously Modified thought so and featured it a year before... And judges were NOT being bias by selecting him because it IS in fact a great car!!

I'm now wondering, Do "G" thinks Modified Magazine favor Me, Rich, and Dan... and ME again (since I'm on the cover this month)?? Is it conspiracy?? Wait, they can't be since current issue features Hayes/Gordon event at VIR... which I been getting some jokes from some local piston guys as they now think rotaries are stereotypically unreliable as modified puts it, "his (Gordon) car would be a no-show at the event he was hosting" and Hayes made it, "despite having engine issues of his own". Not sure if that feature was positive for us rotary guys as I'm having to defend or just brush off the jokes I get from piston friends...

Anyhoe, I don't mind people assuming things.. But in this case, Gordon Clearly states,
"we caught them cheating on the DGRR car show in 2011. It was rigged for Rich (goodfella) to win best of show and we caught them at it."

Its a BOLD statement if you ask me...

I was rarely on the forum in 2011 as I had no FD around that time. I did notice the change in the community when I came back in 2012, though, now I know why...

Its a shame imo, it was always a great environment over here, which is why I posted on this forum as opposed to my local UK forums. Now I find myself a lot more active on the UK forums...

DGRR is a great event from what I've seen, I've even considered making the trip across the Atlantic to attend myself. Would be a shame for such a successful fan run event to suffer because of a little infighting between a few in the community.

Phil, I hope you start a thread on the Cosmo, would love to see what you've got planned for that beast .

Celyon,

Glad you are back in the FD. I always open doors for foreign FD owners and would love for you to attend DGRR. Contrary to what you've might read here, it's a relaxed and easy going event.
I would like to emphasize again no cheating goes around at the event and those who accuse of me to state the facts associated with the claim.

If you are serious pm me and I'll assist as much as I can. Next year potentially couple of out of town guest are flying into Alabama and will drive with me.

Phil

I know my opinion does not matter much although I do know what this is all about but I must say Rich is a good person and has done many good things for this community and I respect him for that and much more, all these accusations about him are extremely hard for anyone to believe and most importantly His Car was truly one of a kind and deserved everything it ever got. It looked Amazing, Built by him, It was clean, Made plenty power, daily driven, raced and admired by many.

Your Opinion DO Matter... especially knowing Rich.

Just to provide FACTS!.. Go Check out Rich's Feature on Modified Magazine

1993 Mazda RX-7 - Fantastic FD - Modified Magazine

Its super clean, mint paint outside, clean engine bay, all around (compare to some that was out there) in top condition. Upgraded interior, Spirit R seats (compare to those who were complaining with stock seats), Great stance, great mods, etc. Undoubted, it was a great example at DGRR 2011.

I'm also going to say, Rich was shocked when he won. But I agreed with the decision of Modified Magazine representatives and also MANY at the event agreed. Not sure when Gordon stated:

I would like to know who these 20-30 people were? Maybe they should of talked to me about what WAS ACTUALLY happening..

Again, NO ONE had influence over Rich's win.. And as stated by Ryan,

There exact words were "Thanks, but it's not what we're looking for".
And I will also add that I have talked to the Modified Guys at the event and told them of my concerns of Ryan being a judge and Rich being the winner, they told me Ryan had no part in their decision. Again,... CHEAT??? What Do I gain from this...

And finally, When Hayes won DGRR 2012 (not best of show, as Greg's RX-8 won).. Gordon starts this thread..

So, I did a great job AGAIN?? But the actual TRUTH is that I'm CHEATING at my events for some gain... I'm still wondering How Rich winning Im benefitting??

I must say that this is one of the craziest things ive ever seen here on the forum, I would reallly like for Gordon to clarify who "them" are he refers to in his post. I say this because me being the number two man in charge @ DGRR and the car show being my baby, means im included in the "them" he is refering to. I find it absolutely offensive to be called a cheat by someone who doesnt know me from a hole in the wall, has no inside information into DGRR and who had up to that year never even been to DGRR. Gordon tell me what would any of us gain, i mean really, theres no money, no fame, no kickbacks, ...................nothing. Hell Rich if id done what you did for Gordan to help him get to DGRR and have it spit in your face like it has..............lets just say you are a way better man than me. The funniest thing about this is that when the agreement was made with MODIFIED to give the BOS winner the cover for their magazine, it was explicitly expressed that THEY would pick the winner to make the selection as fair as it could possibly be, in hopes to avoid this very thing we have been dealing with since 2011. I just cant believe this is still a issue. I would really like for you Gordan to show this smoking gun you have and all the evidence you have to backup your accusations. Now that i think about it i wonder how many other people on the forum he has told this fairytale to and how many have believed him and treated any of us differently because of it.

First off I would like to say your car looks amazing Phil, kudos to your build.

Second, sorry to see your build thread turn into a debate.

Hopefully I can make it to one of your events in the future...Need to build me another FD.

I cannot speak to anything from 2011, I can however speak to my experience in 2013. Of all the car related events I've been to DGRR seemed one of the most involved and detailed events. I for one appreciate an event where people are not placated and everyone is not special as was the case in an event earlier this year in NJ. Phil seemed to go out of his way to bring multiple judges and opinions into the mix and if its the case I applaud him for address even the potential of improprieties in advance with Ryan, not that I think it would have mattered for him anyway. There is enough negativity in this thread, Phil has an awesome build going on here and posts that denigrate his work, character or ethics really don't belong here or anywhere in public without supporting evidence. Whoever mentioned slander should be a lawyer ;-)

I have been reading this thread for a few days. I don’t think this bickering and hurling of accusations does anything positive for the forum or the community in general. I happen to know most of the parties involved here and a few things really bothered me about this whole thing.

First of all there was a statement that this is just the TIP of the iceberg. I don’t know if the person who stated that even knows how true that is. So for those who think it is about a car show then they really don’t know the half of it.

I won’t get into it because I see it as personal baggage and I promised someone I wouldn’t get into it. Other than making me feel better it wouldn’t do any good and it’s all water under the bridge to anyone not involved. These problems span much further back than the 2.5 years since this past car show that is being talked about.

I would question anyone’s priorities over car show results. If that is what is important in life to you then you need to spend some time in front of a mirror. We are talking about peoples reputations here. Some of these guys own businesses and coming here and trying to do damage is contemptible. Even if it was rigged which I highly doubt… Who is a victim here? I guess some reflection of your own might be in order. Have you ever done wrong by anyone? Was it worse than car show results?

I know for a fact that a particular person involved here has sued to protect their own reputation in the past. I don’t understand why they would get involved and put themselves at risk doing the same thing to someone else. You know who you are.

Lastly I took offense as a car show judge myself at the last Carlisi event. I can tell you that the show was not rigged. Rich had no input into the results and as an organizer he omitted his car from contention. His focus was on the memorial and the success and participation of the event. His family comes to help and the guy has been a volunteer and participant on the forum and in the community for well over a decade. I have known Phil from the forum for years and only recently met him in person.

No one has the right to make unsubstantiated damaging accusations in an open forum. These damages to someone's reputation can be real and can't be understated. No one knows this better then Gordon and has fiercely fought to protect his own public reputation right or wrong.
So should these guys do the same? Can the accusations without evidence in an open forum be considered Libel?

Is this breaking some kind law or at the very least Forum rules? I think this needs to be looked at by the forum admin and my opinion is this can't be tolerated. This cannot help attract forum sponsors and merchants. Lets face it. The community is small and we don't need people causing problems and division here.

Keep in mind who made the first comment. Gordon poked and prodded and is getting exactly what he asked for if he realized it or not. World would be a bigger mess if we swept all issues under the rug. Everyone moved on from this years ago with the exception of one person. He dug it up and I'm sure now wishes he didn't. There was no reason for him to take a shot at Phil or his car. Obvious jealousy in his remark. Certain members post babble on this forum for years without fact or experience to back it up. I find it more disturbing when their information is accepted by new members who judge them by post count or their car which was built by a shop. To some it will look like a lot of people jumping on him but it is really just members who are tired of being quiet. Keep in mind without Gordon stirring the pot this whole situation would have been left alone.

Hey.....honestly guys... I apologize for my statement above. I still feel like this is a place of enjoyment and shouldnt' be filled with negative things. But after doing LOTS of research and putting pieces of the puzzle together on my own... feel free to continue on. It's not my place to break up this fight. All I can say is you guys have every right to defend yourselves. ...especially when this lovely hobby is tampered with and moves were IN FACT made to alter someone's professional life, career and way of life in general.

Again, to some who thinks this is silly.

I'm not going to name who but like me, my name, perception of me, perception of my event, and other things are very important to me.

Better example of this would be say, you spent $5k on some part and you got screwed by a fellow member. You will most likely get on the forum and try to warn the community and make sure no one gets screwed by this person. But should there be a time limit for that situation? Ie, because it was 2.5 years ago should they be allowed to considered to be ok??

In my situation, sure it was 2.5 years ago the event at hand took place, but this person made a bolt statement calling me a "cheat". A false characterization of who I am. I didn't start DGRR or start RCC to cheat people. I've always given credit to those involved and I did things for the love of this community. When someone who attended 1 of 9 DGRR so far and states that they caught me "cheating" and that he is being "polite for the community's sake, but" now disclosing it for some reason??? Seriously, He said, "Polite for the COMMUNITY's SAKE"???
I'm sorry but I need to make sure newbs of the forum, those attended DGRR and those whom will be attending DGRR need to know, I nor those involved with DGRR ARE NOT a cheat, nor gain anything by rigging some car show 2.5 years ago. Those of you questioning why this might sound ridiculous should also realize that we value our character differently.. But like ZoomZoom stated, I would think the person who judged my character and the person whom I have already discussed about not getting involved in each others business should of known better.

At this point, I am glad those who knows me, those who attended DGRR, are getting on here to defend me, DGRR, and in turn defending Rich's rightful win and feature in Modified Magazine. I wouldn't be spending this much time to defend myself and pointing out the case and state my issues, IF I don't think its important to do so. Like everyone on here, we live our lives and want to have fun.... rather than trying to defend because someone's ill comment to stir up and waste people's time...

The community is small and we don't need people causing problems and division here.

this is such bullshit. all you guys on phil's side are worse than gordo. you guys claim that it's wrong to make unsubstantiated claims, yet you're always referencing that it's the tip of the iceberg and that there's way more to the story. so who's making unsubstantiated accusations now? who's hiding behind veiled innuendo? just come out with it already. otherwise, you guys are just a bunch of hypocrites yourselves.

and for the record, i have alot of inside info on rich and phil and how they truly operate at these meets and car shows. let's just say you guys don't know the half of what goes on behind the scenes. i promised that i wouldn't get into it, so let's leave it at that.

^ see what i did there? sucks when someone makes veiled accusations doesn't it.

So saying there is a lot more to this story and its just the tip of the Iceberg is a "Veiled Accusation"?

Is the "innuendo" as you say been explained as personal baggage by me already?
Why are you so interested in other people's problems? I think it's been made clear that making accusations in an open forum hurting someone's reputation shouldn't be tolerated.

So now you want us to do it too?

Why not call out the perpetrator that came in here making unsubstantiated accusations?
That seems ok in your book?

We are just dealing with what has been said.

Some questions came up on why everyone was being so dramatic about the accusation and the explanation is there is a lot of history and bad blood stemming from past issues.
They are not up for discussion in a public forum as far as I am concerned.

If that is some kind of hypocrisy then that's a new one to me!
Seems like its respectful to all involved to do so.
