My Dream FD. Build thread

After years of hoping for a FD, I finally got one end of 2014.
The Car is 93, VR with 60k miles.
I wanted to start this thread to keep a record of what's been done on the car.
Also, since we don't have a good rotary shop to take the car to in Phoenix, I need advise from everyone here!

With all said, here we go!!!

This is the way the car came in:

First I had to get the engine bay cleaned up
Hated the messy engine bay.
Replaced the stock engine harness with new one from Jordan innovations.
Swapped out the old intercooler with a custom one with red piping.
Changed the Bov from the hot side to the cold side.

And of course! Hide all the wires and fuses

^^Looking good so far Purplehazee. Vmount is definitely moving in the right direction. So, I take it this pic was kind of a mock-up? Has the car progressed since this image?

V-mount looks good, engine bay looks clean with all the wire hidden.

Very nice work on that engine bay, simple but effective. Can you elaborate a little more on the v-mount intercooler?

The "V-mount" setup actually sucked.
A local performance shop did the work and instead of a V mount, they did a reverse V mount where the opening is towards the engine bay. Dynoed the car earlier this week and the car only made 288 horsepower... Very disappointing. I was told the car would make 375 to the wheels by the seller, allrotor93.
Now the shop won't reimburse me for the job they done which was $2500.
Gotta save up again for a proper V-mount, boost controller, and a better BOV

I thought that was a lot of complicated work for a new owner to undertake right off the bat..... what's the name of the performance shop? Sorry for the issues you're having, quality rotary shops aren't easy to come by.

Also, in the pic that IC core looked like it would be difficult to route air to. Not really a V-mount setup, not surprised you were having issues. What boost was the power made at, and do you have the dyno sheet?

Stock engine and twins? What boost pressure? What other mods ? Where is the dyno sheet ? Who tuned it ? A lot more variables than just the intercooler.......

A reverse v-mount? Wtf? did they just leave the radiator in the stock position and placed an IC where it should go in a typical v-mount setup?

That is exactly what they did. Except they dropped the stock radiator down 2 inches. Same angle. Just down 2 inches

The name of the shop is intense motor sports, I thought it was pretty reputable in town. Still doesn't produce quality work. Not to mention they took my money I paid them to order a set of Tein mono flex ($1500) and never ordered it for me. When I asked them about it, they said they are having financial problems, and told me to wait.

Rebuild engine by allrotor93, not sure if it was ported or not. Boost pressure went up to 17psi then dropped straight to its face. Car is tuned at local shop called UMS tuning, I'll get the dyno sheet in the next few days and post on here

Oh, also, it's single turbo, according to the seller it is a t04s turbo.
UMS tuning also mentioned that the injectors were maxed out at 80% and made Only 288HP

What ECU are you running on the car? Or how are you controlling fuel and ignition?

Sorry to hear that bro.

All that hot air from the radiator must be going straight onto the IC. I can't believe a shop would do something like that.

Tony is a good tuner for sure. To4s at 17psi should definitely be way higher. However it sounds like you have a different major issue if power just drops right off..post the dyno sheet and a datalog.

X2, for that size turbo and that result, I would think there is something else that needs to be addressed, not just the intercooler.

Another issue I found out is that I have a very noticeable hic-up at 4k Rpm on first gear, and hic-up at 3500~ rpm on 2nd and 3rd.
The car would hic-up then power would kick in right after
