So....got the car back today......its rather fast
Its only tuned to 1 bar on our 98 pump at the moment so we can get some loaded Ks on the motor before upping the boost a little, but to be honest...it feels as fast, if not faster then it was.....so it may well be enough for the circuit for now.
Apparently its only making 420 WHP but considering the initial pull on the old motor before it died was at like 370 or somthing (was 480 hp on RE sinclair's dyno), and looking at a lot of other PPRE cars numbers on other dynos, id say the figures are a little low. And to compare, another very similar FD traped at 131mph on our shitty strip with the similar power. ??
Regardless...its up on power on the old motor and down on boost. And the bumometre is reading a little higher.....as is the 3rd and changing into 4th gear traction loss .
Got full boost by about 4800 and still good pull off boost.
Overall...im happy. I might go for a power run at another shop that has a Dynapac just to compare it for ***** and giggles.
Might race next weekend and put this motor through its paces.....pitty it wont have the brakes or tyres by then tho.
Dyno sheet will come soon.

Got the dyno sheets today. Thought I should put them up.
The first sheet is the old motor before it blew up. Blue line was its initial benchmark run on the old tune and the green is what PPRE managed out of it on the same boost before it injested to much water and self destructed. Thanks RE Sinclair
Second is the new motor. Green curve is on wastgate spring pressure of .8bar and red is at 1 bar. Interesting to see its making more power and a lot sooner on .8 bar then it did when I first dropped it off on 1bar.
I still think the power figures are low, but who really cares. Its faster then it was and Im not even sure I will need any more power for the track.
In other news.....the D2 Front brakes turned up along with the hand brake. Only had a quick look last night at like 1am, but the quallity looks really good. Ill post pics tonight/tomorrow. Im gonna try slap them on tonight ready for Saturdays shakedown.

Got the front brakes on. Was all a piece of **** apart from it pissing down with rain. The hardest part was shimming the calipers to centre....and that was far from hard!
Havnt driven it yet, but will take it for a drive tomorrow to make sure its all working.
The discs arnt all the much bigger then my last ones, but there is a massive increase in pad size. Should be interesting. It will either stop really well, or not at all I recon

gangstaaaaaaaaaa bro!
only thing i dont like is the blue... you have 3 blues...
blue-ish/purple = vacuum lines/couplers
crayola blue? = fuel lines/pulleys/TB
dark/deep purple-ish blue = LIM (barely visbable but under the UIM its visible..
IMO a deep blue would set the grey off very well or if u want to stay more subtle black compliments grey well

Yeah I had a look around for everything matching colour wise and just couldnt justify spend a whole lot of money just to change the colour of some pipes, so I just went with a blue that was somewhere in the middle. It looks CRAP in photos, but is quite pleasing to the eye in person.
Cheers man. Its faaaarrrrrrr from finished. Stay tuned for the rear brakes, backing plates with ducting, front splitter and some other bits and pieces.
I wish they would bloody hurry up and finish my garage. Working in the rain SUCKS!!!

So took the car to the track on Sat with the new front brakes and new motor for the first time.
The motor ran flawlessly. Was totaly smoke free apart from some blackness on over run. ZERO oil in the catch can at all. Spent a good deal of time on the rev limiter and was happy as.
I was only running it on .8Bar of boost (that was more then enough to over power the street tyres), so a little under 300kw. It has MUCH better response out of the corners and a LOT less lag! All and all I think the motor is going well.
The brakes:
I was running the pads that came with the D2s as my carbotech's are a little way off yet (have been ordered tho).
The first stint was interesting. The one way valve in the booster line had failed when I put it in im guessing and was just open all the time = boost pressure in the booster. This meant a ROCK hard pedel for about 2 or 3 seconds after closing the throttle, so made for some scary moments at the end of the straights. Lucky I was braking WAY early and didnt have any "off road" action.
I borrowed the 1 way valve from my Hilux and went back out. Brakes are MUCH MUCH MUCH better then the stockers. The pads are still ****, but they still stop the car REALLY well from speed and only get a little fade after a real beating. With the carbotechs in and the ducting, they should be the bees knees! I was still a bit heasitent to trust them on their first outing, but a little more track time and I should be braking a fair few metres later (like 20ish) and picking up some MUCH needed seconds.
The street tyres are still frustrating the hell out of me and need to go in the bin. With the semi slicks on, it should carry a good deal more speed through the corners and be able to put the power down earlier.
Gearbox is getting graunchy so I might start rebuilding my spair one and chuck that in at some point.
I think the weak link in this car is finally becomming the driver

Id say its just a scoote rip off with a slight change. They are marketed as a Luxury Sports Type 2 hood over here.

Got some new wider wheels and put my second hand semi slicks on the.
Also finally got the car into its new home....I like this garage =D.
Now I have to fix the clutch (slipping), make these wheels fit, install the rear brakes, make the ducting and backing plates for the brakes, ducting for the radiator, and fix the anoying fault the TPS has decided to create. It thinks its at 70% throttle at idle but isnt loose.
Pics to come when I do more.

Opened up the rear brakes today and pulled out some 4 pot calipers. I was sure I ordered 6 pots so I went back and sure enough I had asked for 6 pots. Being that the brakes were sponsored and i was running out of patience for incorrect orders, i just chucked them on. **** it...its just the rears.
I then went to install the hydrolic handbrake and just couldnt find a good place to put it without cutting things apart - so I improvised and came up with this
Im really happy with how the handbrake turned out. Ya cant even tell its changed.
I then removed the springs from the coilovers and fitted the rims to check for clearance.
The rears fit perfect and hit the bump stops about 5-10 mm before the tyre hits anything.
The fronts on the other hand are going to require a bit of "convincing" haha. Have a mate comming around tomorrow with a guard roller so should be all fitting nicely by the end of the day.
I also plan to finish up the brake lines for the rears/handbrake and start on the ducted backing plates and the ducting for the radiator/intercooler.

Your car looks very nice and you have done so much work on it, it's inspiring for my own project. I am no where as technically skilled as you are (welding, wiring work etc) but thats what this sites all about. I'm a fellow NZer and I know this car from the previous owner when it was featured in NZPC but you have definately surpassed that and made it much better. Having one of the best engine builders if not the best in the world has to make you feel good that it's all sweet under the hood.
Can I ask what your plans are for competing, will you be entering competitions or just doing your own track days? Was it very hard to get the sponsorship from D2 or is it just a matter of asking nicely if you can work out something that can help both of you?
I look forward to any new posts of other work you are doing, you are very helpfull in sharing all your hard work with everyone on here.

I would love to get into NZGT at some point but it can be hard when im funding it all out of my own pocket and also working a lot to pay for it all.
Currently I try to make it to as many clubsport events (road and track, intermarques, maybe winter series) at manfeild and any others around I can afford/arnt working.
I dont have full blown sponsorship from D2 - was more just a really good discount in exchange for pushing their website on the car/at meets and will probably give them a review to post on their site etc. Its near on impossible to get sponsorship BEFORE you are doing any well. Ya have to put the cash in yourself to get to a place someone will want to sponsor you.

Made a start on the ducting while Im waiting for the clutch. Made the 2mm spacer for between the gearbox and motor to give some free play to the release bearing as well.
There will be a couple of seperation fins on the intercooler core and the bit that I missed out on the left (drivers side) will end up being the intake for a cold air box.
Will also make the ducts for the oil coolers to the bumper.
The plan? - keep the tanga cold!!!
