Great explanation on your part though. I've been watching the videos and semi-following but didn't have an understanding of how the whole electro-mechanical system worked together. It seems like that the real key to function will like in the gear position signal control and finding the right blend of settings for torque reduction and re-introduction so that you have a smooth in-sync operation in both directions.

Good **** though man, can't wait to see it all come together.

thanks for the feedback and support. Coming from a NASA engineer it means alot ! Hope to see you again sometime

Now you'll be able to drive at 10 and 2 without having to break for something silly like shifting.

They are two different cars. It's not a competition, 2 awesome 4 rotor cars is better than 1. Most people that watch the videos enjoy both. It's a very small percentage that play around in the comments because they have nothing better to do.

you should strongly reconsider making and posting certain things publicly.

Rectifier finally burned up on my 200amp alternator. This is a stock FD case with pumped up parallel configuration on the stator to provide up to 200amps. The car only uses around 110amps but operates at a high voltage of 16.8volts with my external regulation system.

I've decided to do a little experiment . Instead of using these shitty mitsubishi standard rectifiers that are contained in the case, i''ve ordered a badass crazy 1600v 300amp capable stand-alone 3-phase unit, that can be mounted externally. Intended use is wind turbine generators lol. Going to run the A/C current stator leads externally thru the case over to the rectifier and mount the rectifier near the alternator but under the frame rail, so that it has airflow under the car and isn't heat soaked inside the case of the alternator. The diodes are rated a much higher capacity than these automotive units. Should allows 16.8v and serious load full time, all the time no matter what conditions.

You know you're off the deep end when you're getting into hardcore alternator mods!

Been enjoying the videos, keep up the good work!

thanks Dale!

works great spinning the alternator up with a drill on the bench! Currently have another spare alternator on the rx7, but when/if it ever wears out, this one should be bullet proof

Took a month off from the car. Went back out this weekend to dust it off. Too hot for racetrack to be enjoyable, going to wait until September before I spend 600 dollars for a HPDE weekend.

Car runs like a damn beast, its just ******* unreal. I wish I could take all of you guys for a ride. There's not enough words in english language to describe exactly how it feels.

Alot of folks comment:
- why do you let it be so loud?
- seems to jerky and aggressive for the street?
- ricey
- overkill

Once you get in this car, and actually strap on, it all makes sense. Looking at it on a video just doesn't do the violence justice. After adding the sequantil/flatshifting the entire game is just different. The car is only on 11-12psi in these videos, with potential of 22psi with the current tuning. But at 11psi, its just so damn fast for me personally, that I mentally can not handle any faster at the moment lol. My favorite part about the flatshifting; lets say you roll into the throttle in 3rd gear at 5k rpm. The turbo will generate full boost by about 6k rpm, which is actually pretty damn laggy. Its not horrible though, because the extra 2 rotor give you a good bit of kick in the ***, until that turbo hits. If it was a 13b I think 6k rpm spool would be unbearable. But anyway, back to the point here. If you run through 3rd gear, hit full boost by 6k and rev it out to 9200ish, its pretty decent, but you do feel that lag. Generally speaking, you can't make full boost under 6k in any gear, and it forces you to stay on the top end if you want immediate power. However, with the flatshifting, its totally changed this dynamic. You can hear my short shifting the car in the beginning of the video. Why? Lets say you start in 2nd gear at 4k rpm, WOT, and you bang up to third at 5k rpm. You haven't hit full boost in 2nd, and you've already made a shift. On the stock transmission, you'd be letting off the throttle, making the gear change, and coming back on to throttle. Turbo would lose even more energy between shifts and you're still not up on boost. Now the car is a dog going into 3rd. But with the ignition retard and flatshifting, if you shift early, before full boost, the violence of the shift/spark cut, is a like a major anti-lag effect, and the turbo pops up to life coming into the next gear. It literally feels like a tiny nitrous hit between shifts. If you were to look at a MAP trace, you'd see that every shift generates an extra 0.5-1psi of pressure between gear changes, and the throttle stays wide open. There's no longer any loss of energy at the turbine, and there is no longer and transient fuel changes. Everything is just wide open, with RPM being the only changing variable. Now youre able to shift anywhere you want down to about 4k rpm, and the next gear up will always be full boost. The car is just another animal I'm so thrilled!

Anyone that calls this car ricey is just ignorant (ignoring the racial aspect of it). It's a beast and more muscle than the majority of traditional muscle cars.

And it looks like it's supposed to be overkill. Just like any supercar, no one actually needs something like that, and most owners can't actually drive well enough to max out the car. Some people will just never get it.

Agreed. I'd be willing to bet that 99.9% of supercar owners out there haven't turned a wrench on their car and even then only a smaller number built the whole thing from scratch doing everything from building/painting/troubleshooting/alternator mods/rebuilding/retuning/more-troubleshooting/tune/tune/tune/build/modify/tune...etc. Those people will never beat the man who committed and gets how it works.

No matter what your feeling about the car may be, we need people to be pushing the envelope for the rotary community. This car is completely over the top and just as awesome to boot. We need more people breaking the mold that rotary information needs to be secret.
