Been spending too much time wrenching to post much in the thread..... headed down to DGRR bright n early tomorrow in the AM with Scrubs, Renna, my brother, FDNewbie, mono4lamar, davin, ambrosio, mrosado etc.
Car pulls well with the new setup, been running low boost (10ish psi) so far. Biggest difference is the high rpm breathing, I can bring her up to 8500 rpm in each gear and the acceleration is smooth and doesn't drop off like it used to.
Did have an issue with a Precision WG failing, it stuck open on me and I suspect it had issues earlier on as well. Already swapped out with another new piece and so far so good.
Oh, and the Bridgestone RE-11s are amazing. Even better than the reviews I had read, I don't regret making the change for a second. Very grippy, solid, confidence-inspiring tires.
See you all at the Dragon

I have about 20 updates to post, with about 15 hours of wrenching per update
Long story short, now running a PT6466 DBB snail and the initial reports are favorable. Had some gremlins and ghosts in the machine but hope to have figured them out with a little help from my friends
In other news, just mounted a badass rare Nardi steering wheel..... 350mm D-shape newly recovered in black suede with red stitching, and a black Mazdaspeed horn which took me years of searching to find

I have a few floating around, they're for sale if someone offers me the right price
Wonderfully intelligent input as always Heath
Wow, that wheel looks awesome, I've never seen one of those with the 'oem' leather and stitching
I've been getting some seat time with the car and shaking it down to prep for the Lightning track day at NJMP on Monday with the BMW club.
Have ran as high as 1.42 kg on the commander, so about 21 psi boost pressure. Car definitely flies at that level, it's so freaking loud it's hard to gauge forward progress though
After some 4th gear pulls at 21 psi, peak values on my gauges were 135 psi for oil px, 1600 F for EGT (probe in DP), and 60 psi for fuel px. Peak fuel injector duty cycles were at 72%, this with 870/1680 fuel injectors. Moving up to 525cc of fluid and switching to 70/30 WM definitely caused the FID cycles to go down.
I took some time today to 'convert' a Pettit heat shield I had laying around.... it's designed to be bolted to the oem EGR valve mounting perch on the stock LIM but I made brackets and bolted it in place. This was definitely a necessity as my current turbo has no blanket or covering on it at all.
Oh, last thing..... finally installed the Raceshop Rollbar that had been sitting at SBG since around last August, when I purchased it from Fritz. Dan took it to be powdercoated in a nice flat black for me, and it looks right at home in the interior. Somehow the PCing came out more of a semi-gloss black, but I still think it looks ****
Install wasn't horrible, found an old thread by 7racer which helped, and also Clunkers was parked right there to take a peek at. A big shoutout to Renna and Dannymac for the help, and a big 'no homo' hug to Sir Lancelot for his bigtime assistance in this endeavor. Installing rollcage with no help=no bueno.
My FD feels much more planted in turns, very stable. It's a damn shame they don't make these any more as it's really a quality piece, and it doesn't even interfere with your vision out of the car or comfort/driveability. Definitely a worthwhile addition to 'Gorilla Guts' as my car has somehow come to be known

Well, I just installed the diagonal bar that ties together the two vertical hoops and, um..... scratch that part about 'great visibility'
It's honestly not that bad, just takes some getting used to.
Yesterday I drove a friend's fully modded FD with an S362 and I must say, it felt very laggy. Maybe I'm spoiled, and maybe my trans and final drive help a lot, but I get 15 psi much quicker than his setup did. Granted, once you were on it the car flew. Just took a while to get that boost

Rich, I have been thinking of ditching my turbo blanket too; it just seems to me that a turbo housing needs to breath. Can you please post pics of this when your done? It surprises me after all these years that no one has developed a simple (and affordable) shield for the LIM for people with single set-ups. A well formed piece of stainless would go a long way in helping the turbo cool down and protecting the LIM.
