Awesome! Are you driving the car back to FL from TX?

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping you'll make it out to the DGRR..

This weekend is the "shake down cruise" for the car. I'm going to hang out with Steve Kan and watch him tune the car. The plan is for him to have the car street tuned prior to me showing up and then dyno tune the car while I'm there. I'm also going to go over the car to ensure everything is completed. If not, Gotham will have two weeks to complete the work.

During the week of March 19th, my wife and I are going to fly back into Dallas to pick up the car and then road trip it back to Jacksonville via New Orleans and the Florida panhandle. Hopefully all will go well and we'll make it back to Jacksonville in one piece. We've got the digital camera warmed up so we're ready to go. Should be an adventure.

So, if all goes well, I'll be at DGRR.

Awesome David!

If you do come up to DGRR, I would like to do a feature shoot of your car on the event DVD. I'm going to do 4-5 feature cars (1st gen, 2nd gen, old school, 3rd gen, etc) and send it to this lady I know at Mazda.. I'm shooting for Mazda sponsorship for next years event...

That sounds great. Now if I can just make it back from Gotham in one piece (with apex seals intact)

You don't want to read thru 89 pages of crap? Come on, live a little!

The project was supposed to take 6 months but has taken over 2 1/2 years. The short of it is Pettit couldn't properly tune the car, Wolf EMS USA totally screwed me, and not Gotham Racing has fixed all the issues and completed the work.

Tomorrow I get to see the car for the first time in over 1 1/2 years.

You got it! I've got a nice shiney custom fabbed aluminum tank to hold lots of methanol/water for this.

Today I'm actually starting to get excited about going on the trip. Should fun getting to meet the Gotham guys in person and actually seeing the car.

Lot's of vodka tonics and evil, menacing stares at local RX7 owners. I've been also known at night to secretly lie on top of unattended FDs

Seriously, it's pretty much sucked. I've become the brunt of my family's (especially the in-law side) jokes. "Hey, how's the car coming? Haha!!" Even my wife's gotten into it.... grrr

No matter how much they pull you leg or make fun of you at the end of it all you are going to have what is probably considered the summit of Rx-7 modification. Not to mention that you have a car that could out perform things much much more expensive and looks twice as good doing it.

I totally sympathize with that situation.
Just make them BEG for a ride when it's it done.

That's no big deal as long as it's in fun... I heard the same sort of stuff while my car wasn't running for months while the car wasn't running and it was supposed to be. I told them just wait...

Now they all are scared to ride in it because it's 'too fast'

Remember and make fun of those comments later when you scare the pants off them. (preferrably on the track)

Update:

The car lives...almost. Bunch of parts showed up today and Gotham is busy installing them on the car. The best are the PLX devices. Should look great.

Am taking pics and will post more later. Car should be started soon...
