"20B Money Pit" - too funny. Spoke with Brock last week and they believe they'll have the car together and ready for tuning within two weeks. They're waiting on completion of the water injection tank.

My guess is Steve will then need two weeks for the tuning. I've come this far so I'm going to get him to do a complete job on the tune, including a map for race gas. Brock says only a week will be required so I doubled it.

So where does this leave me regarding when I'll get the car back. Best case, this month. Worst case, March. I'll then need to figure out how to get it back. I'll either have it trailored back to Jax FL but I'm leaning towards flying in to Gotham and driving the car back. I'd really like to attend Deals Gap and it's looking like the car might be ready.

David, if you do decide to transport the vehicle for any reason, between any two points, please use www.horselesscarriage.com. They're absolutely THE BEST in the industry. They transport everything from classics to museum relics to NASCAR and F1 Racecars. I used 'em to ship my car to Gotham, and had no problems whatsoever. They use fully enclosed trailors ONLY, do NOT outsource *anything* (it's all done in-house by company employees and company equipment), their timing is impeccable, they fully insure everything, and best of all, they have a FLAT ramp that you drive your car onto, which is elevated while in the flat position, then the car is driven into the truck - so you never have to worry about clearance or scratching anything on the bottom of your car

I'm crossing my fingers If everything goes well, I might be bringing my blk FD.... who am I kidding, that things never going to be ready.. LOL!

Also, if you are driving back from Dallas, stop off in Bham... it might be on your way back.. I'll gather some rotary guys and we'll do lunch or dinner.

Hi Ramy,

Thanks for the advice. As my car has travelled the US looking for a good mechanic to complete the work I've already used several transporters. The two I highly recommend are Emerald Coast Carriers (850.393.7724) and Bullsye Auto Transport (877.216.6683). Both are utterly fantastic and have come through for me several times, especially when the car was in CA. Emerald Coast Carriers is a small operation that is based out of FL. They too have a completely enclosed carrier (very important to me) and a flat ramp for the car. See my attached pic of the car being loaded to ship to CA. If I knew then what I know now... The second company, Bullseye, is basically a broker for other companies. Their dispatcher, Carla, has the best customer service of anyone I have ever met. She arranged to pick up my car with just a few hours notice, which was important to me given I could only be assured Chris would at his shop for short periods of time.

Finally, I also encourage you to check out, prior to selecting a carrier, the reviews on www.transportreviews.com. This site lists more transporters than you'll ever find any other way and great reviews of each carrier.

I'm there if I get the car back in time. How about a telephone call in campaign to Gotham? "Come on guys, finish David's car so he can go to The Gap!". Think it has promise...

Am going to call Gotham tomorrow. It's supposed to be "D-day" for the car to be complete (not tuned, but all other work done). Spoke with Brock last week and they were waiting on the water injection system tank to be delivered. Was supposed to be in by last Friday. Will keep you updated as soon as I know something....which is nothing right now.

Glad my misery can be of help The progress you are making is fantastic though - keep it up. As for me, we'll find out later today.

- and yes, it will be okay...it's only time and money...and lots of both.

I need your help, since you drove the car for some time when you got it from pettit, how was your hi speed stability?

some people have told me that the subframe give some stability control problems at hi speed, is this true?

No, I didn't have any issues at all. The top speed I drove it though was probably only about 120 MPH. My car is also lowered and I have adjustable Tein coilovers. Pettit/Cam's 3 rotor (the one sold at Barret Jackson last year) has gone over 200 MPH. Don't think I'd go that fast though.

No problems. You can also call/email Pettit (ask for Jeff) and he'll help you out. Good luck with the project. What are your plans?

That's the first I've ever heard of such a phenomenon. Are you referring to the bump steer issues when the steering rack is modified/moved?

Yea it happens...and depending on who does the conversion, they can do their best to help cancel out the bumpsteer issues...but the ultimate solution is to never touch the steering rack in the first place.

You can search on "bumpsteer" in the 20B section and it'll go into all the details about it.
