, this is possible. Any experiences with the dual BB turbos and their spool up?
FYI - the midpipe just left Jax on its way to you.

No experiances yet just reading other dyno charts and comparing info.
You might as well let the cat out of the bag.
I bet it's a triple turbo set-up ( 3 Gt-28RS models would be very nice). That would explain why it's taking so long. Oh yea, you mean downpipe right?

Jax is 180 miles form Tally. Not a bad ride though as it is a straight shot on I-10. As for the ride in the car, no problems, once it shows up. Just got off the phone with the mechanics - progress is being made. The major hold up with the car is now over and work should now begin. I also surmise they're totally overwhelmed right now. I'm going to check back in sometime next week to see where we are.
I only briefly looked over the entire project, but I have to say... money well spent.
I hope someday I'll be able to experience something like this. Good luck on getting everything in perfect working order.

damn i forgot i was subscribed to this!
David, you had better be doing something crazy with that car, cause no way in hell does it take this long for a single turbo kit to be fabbed and tuned, no matter how nice the job is...
What's the update?

Anyway, the log jam on the project has been removed and progress is being made.Keep your fingers crossed, updates and results soon.

Good things are happening though so hang in there. If you think you guys are frustrated by the lack of info, take that lever and muptiply it by the "X7" factor for me

If I spent that kind of money. I would want it done yesterday, unless I was paying little by little on a budget. Or... Enjoyng the car for a year then upgrading the next year and so on.... At least I would be enjoying every stage of it....
I hope in the end, and when I say end I hope it's near for your sake... When you are driving that beautiful exotic on the weekends. I hope you have a smile from ear to ear...
Best Wishes!
Dwayne

I would do it all over again but would spend more time up front making sure (as best as you can) that the timing will work out. RX7 mechanics (the good ones) are few and far between and you have to be somewhat flexible. Remember, though, it's the end result that you are after. And hey, at least mine will be done before jimlab's

A clue as to what is happening to the car:

Check out the car in the garage at the beginning and end of the pics. Will start to post more details at the edn of this week.

Or he gets frustrated cause the setup is a PITA for some reason and some problem occurs and he cant get it right. Then he gets overwhelmed and decides to sell it cause its such a hassle.
That would suck.
I hope it isnt taking so long because you cant get that Wolf 4D to work still. If thats whats been holding you up, why havent you scrapped that yet?
But on the other hand...That a 42R? Looks like fun! Hope you get it back soon.

If the hold up is because of ECU issues, than I just can't imagine why you would wait all this time for someone to try and figure it out when there are far better and more efficient options out there. As Jerry Seinfeld once said, "Sometimes the road less traveled is less traveled for a reason."

well even if it doesn't run, it's damn pretty.
I understand COMPLETELY David, Im still trying to get my car together after almost 4 years, I can say with a absolute fact that things never workout in the time frame you expect it to.
I can't believe i've read almost the entire thread! Having said that, i just have a couple of questions if you'll bear with me (i know you've already anwered countless numbers of them). So by now i'm sure you must have regretted going with the Cosmo twins. Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't the original intention of going with the twins to create an even more torquey bottom end? So weren't you kind of pissed when you came into Petite that day when they told you they ran them parrallel? Kind of defeated the whole point of the twins. Regardless, this is one amazing 3 rotor conversion, congrats!

The car has been in CA at Chris Greene's Wolf USA shop undergoing a single turbo and fuel system conversion. Those that attended the rotary gathering last weekend got to see the car.
Here is what is being done:
- ASE single turbo kit with T51R dual ball bearing turbo, SS custom lower intake manifold, 48 mm wastegate, oil feed and drain back. The turbo has the following specs:
.72 compressor housing
.122 exhaust housing
76mm compressor wheel with a 56 trim
71mm turbine wheel with a 76 trim
The goal, at 12 PSI boost, is about 450 WHP, and at 16 PSI boost, about 650 WHP. We'll soon see if we hit these marks.
Chris is also upgrading the fuel system and installing dual pumps, braided lines, a better fuel regulator and a surge tank as well as a custom secondary fuel rail and 1600cc injectors.
While he's woking on the car, I'm also having him wire the wideband O2 sensor into the Wolf EMS unit for better performance as well as swap out my resonated midpipe (still too loud) for a flow thru muffler (I'll then have a muffler on the midsection as well as my current exhaust). He's also powder coated the UIM and LIM and pipes "stealth" metallic black. I'm an old guy and don't like too much bling - just give me evil looking black and I'm good to go

The most important thing Chris is doing is properly tuning my car. To answer the questions about the EMS unit, it works very well and has many good capabilities. It's just never been tuned totally correctly. Chris, the Wolf USA distributor, will have the car perfectly tuned and ready to go. This is why I've waited so long on the car.
Yes, a single turbo conversion is not that difficult. What is difficult, however, is to use the correct pieces with an awesome tuning job to produce a reliable, very kick *** car. This is what I will get from Chris and it's worth the wait. If you have ever spoken with Chris, you'll know he's way up there on his knowledge of rotaries and is a genius with tuning (I would put him up there with Steve Kahn).
So, my choices have been to rush Chris and get the car back sooner, or to allow him to create something special. As I have another car to drive, this is the route I've selected. Yes, I'd love to have had the car back sooner, but having it done right is more important.
So, that's whats up. The current status - everything has been fabricated and test assembled. This week, the car should be back together and hopefully Chris will turn the key over and fire that bad boy up!

Fabrication
A few fabrication shots. Note the wheel well had to be "dimpled" to get the turbo to fit. Yes, the dimple has since been smoothed out and repainted. Also note these are pics from several weeks ago.
