Did they provide any sort of warranty on the engine above and beyond what is normally provided on a reman? Or are you pretty much on your own after you drive the car off the lot?

My god, that thing sounds like a half million dollars. If I had my eyes closed I would have sworn it was a flat-12, amazing. We need videos of it in action.

As for the BCS, I'm on the opposite side of the fence, I go to UT. Needless to say I'm pretty happy we're going to the Rose Bowl.

A 20B conversion doesn't get me all warm inside, but the sound is music to my ears! Awesome, can't wait until you get to turn the wick up!

Pettit will take care of any issues that come from defects in manufacturing and rebuilding the engine. If I'm a goob and blow up the engine, then I'm on my own. I actually hear that rebuliding a 3 rotor is not too expensive!

Rebuilding a 20B can be very expensive- especially if you damage the two piece eccentric shaft- Mazda ceased producing them about 5 yrs ago. We curently have two 20 B engines in rebuild stage - 1 is currently available for sale.

I'd love to hear (and see) a longer video clip with some serious throttle....what I heard so far sounded great

makes a 13b sound like crap, but we all know this

David, are you running a high flow cat?

David-

What exhaust setup did Cam put on the car? How many resonators, if any? Also, what RPM did your "moderate" dyno video rev up to? Your car sounds so mellow compared to mine in the lower ranges, but my exhaust is also "rice" compared to yours (even with two resonators).

Here is how mine sounds in comparison (only taken to 6100 RPMS in the video):

Yours: http://mindclarity.com/cloead/120-2059_MVI.AVI
Mine: http://home.comcast.net/~mhaun5/rx7/RedRx713PSI.wmv

I really like how .. (is mild the correct word?) "mild" your exhaust notes are. Since you have been driving it a bunch, how is the overall vibration of the exhaust on the highways, with long periods of driving?

With mine, the exhaust note is low in 5th gear; but the vibration/resonation that you can hear makes you deaf on long periods of driving. When it happens, you don't even know it until you try to talk outloud (and cant hear yourself) or speaking to someone else (for again, the exhaust note isn't loud - just the resonated low-key sound).

I was planning on doing what the Mclaren F1 cars do; install a headset (hooked to my in car-pc) with an VOX communication device to talk to each other (along with the ability to listen to sound, etc). Though, I would think it would look a little dorky having headsets on in the car to most people .

So true, especially a street driven car.

Crusing in a 20B RX7 (cool factor = 10 of 10)
Crusing in a 20B RX7 wearing communication headsets (cool factor = out the tailpipe)

Red-Rx7,

You have a single turbo where as he has stock twins. Your exhaust note should be a good bit different.

I have the exact same thing (sound-wise) w/ my FD (13B-REW, stock twins, intake, dp, mp, and hks CF ti). The drone is super low, but it pretty much drowns out everything else. I physically CANNOT make cellphone calls in the car, cuz I can't hear what anyone's saying lol.

My PFS single tip droned horribly at highway speeds. I eventually went to the Racing Beat twin tip and stuck a Borla XR-1 in the midpipe, which cured boost creep, droning, backfiring, and overall noise.

Borla makes a midpipe? How restrictive is it, compared to other midpipes? And why would you wanna get rid of backfiring? That's the best part!

The Borla XR-1 mufflers have been tested to 1,000+ horsepower and reduce power insignificantly while dropping noise by ~8 dB. You can even run them in series.

You have to have one added to your midpipe, Borla doesn't make a midpipe replacement. Someone should just make a jig and start producing them... hmm...

Sure. If you're fifteen years old...

So you actually put the muffler INSIDE the MP? (I've always thought a muffler was a catback exhaust...) I'd love to see the labor charge I'd get hit up w/ on THAT job... What's the diff between doing that and getting your MP resonated? I thought that's supposed to lower drone too...

23 to be exact...and damn proud of it. I get a real kick outta backfiring and having the guy riding my tail suddely drop back 15 feet hehe. Or backfiring in a tunnel... (Ok, so maybe I AM 15 LOL)

I think what Jimlab meant was that the borla muffler is welded in sequence to the midpipe.
