Each dollar I spend, I keep telling myself it is worth it.... Time will tell. Post those updates soon. I am curious as I am sure the rest of the forum is as well.

The dollars keep flowing out and I keep picturing all of the cars I could have purchased for the price I've sunk into the FD and the 20B conversion. Damn...

Is it still at Gotham? If so, I guess that's why mine's still kind of on the back burner there--had to get in line behind yours. Been there since June without much activity.

Gotham's been down two mechanics for a while. They hired two new guys a few months ago, including George, a top rate mechanic and tuner. He's excellent. Things should start to flow smoothly again so hang in there. And you're right, all of the 3 rotor work they've done for me does slow things down

this thread alone will keep a 20B out of my engine bay...that and the article about the Ferrari 599 engineers doing everything in their power to get that V12 behind the front axle; which they did.

Sorry to be the source of discouragement for you. You're supposed to learn from my mistakes so it's easier. If I knew then what I know now I bet the project could be done in under 6 months and for 1/3 of what I spent.

The Ferrari 599 - a beautiful car!

David iv been following your progress over the years and must say you'v got quite an achievement on your hands. Pettit has done a wicked job of the motor & Gotham look like they are finally getting the car the right attention it deserves.

Good luck with it all.

P.S I have a Race Spec Pettit Block aswell

Wow, it seems like it's taking longer to do the repairs than it took to actually put the car back together... bummer.

The only difference is that you picked the right car for dumping money into. I have done the same with several vehicles in the past. 1st a 2g Eclipse, the one with the neon engine, LOL, over $30k in a POS. 2nd, a 92 Civic hatch, it could haul ***, over 500 HP, but still a POS, LOL. Then an FD with and ls1 motor, which I had to sell cause of lack of funds and lack of mechanical skills to fix it.

I am on my 3rd FD and I cannot think of owning another car. Sure, there are other nice cars, but none like the FD. If the FD has grown into you, then it will be hard to let go, specially after spending so much on it.

THe only thing I can tell you is this...if you have kids or a morgtgage (sp), pay that first, then the car. Looks like you are ok, remember that most of us can't even think of doing what you did to your car...so enjoy every bit of it, ups and downs.

The words of a lone Harley driver come to mind..I asked him how the Harley was doing, cause I own a Victory..so he says "well, it wasn't worth it, but I already have it so I might as well enjoy it".

Enjoy that monster and best of luck to you.

I knew a-lot of what you learned from this thread, and I was not able to get it done.... I know the feeling of picturing what other cars I could have gotten for this one, but, minus some frustration, I guess it would not have been as rewarding. I know you are addicted to projects now, so what is next for you....since this one is nearly complete....

Thanks for the comments guys. Don't have kids so that's not a problem. Sold my software company a few years ago so, although it kills me to keep pumping money into the FD, it's not the end of the world.

Hang in there and I'll post an update over the next few weeks. Good things happening

I sound like a broken record, but hang in there and I'll post all of it soon.

Any ******* idiot with too much money could have a 599. If thats what youd rather then pawn your unique and desireable car on someone who will appreciate it; nay, deserves it.
Never said I wanted the 599, somebody else posted it. It is a beautiful car though. As for pawning the car off, you're kidding right? After all this time I'll probably sleep in the car And I don't think anyone else deserves it or could appreciate it more than me.
