Congratulations!

What ECU did you end up using?

Sorry, I stopped reading sometime around 2007 :-)

New Sticker

New Oil Cap. Got it from rotary13b1.com. Loved his rotary valve stem caps so ordered this and his rotary dip stick cap. Didn't know the oil cap would be so huge and thick. It's like a real rotor!

Trick Pettit Racing power steering pulley that will match the alternator pulley once the alternator comes back from repair.

Microtech LTX12s. Started with Wolf 4d, then Haltech, now with Microtech. Seems to really control the car in a nice smooth OEM way.

Progressive with a "stated value" policy. State Fram dropped me like a rock as soon as I let them know I had done the conversion and I haven't been able to find another company that will ensure a 1994 with an "agreed value" policy for $60K. Let me know if you have any ideas.

My parents had all sorts of trouble with State Farm with stock vehicles and their house, you're better off without them. CONGRATULATIONS on getting her home finally. It's great to see someone do what they say they will in a timely manner. Major props to Jesus. I hope we don't see you on here for a few days. GO ENJOY THE CAR! You deserve a huge round of applause for being this determined in your quest for a 3 rotor powered FD.

Congrats on the car David. It looks great.

I just got mine on the road this past sunday. I'm hoping to get some tuning in on it this weekend.

Are you planning to make it to Car's and Coffee?

What about using classic car insurance? I believe thats what goodfellas uses. Of course you can't drive over 5k a year though but your free from emissions restrictions.

David,

It's great to see you finally enjoying this car. I have been subscribed to this thread since the first page and have followed every post of the thread with much anticipation!

I must say your car looks great. I am usually not a fan of the plate-less 99 Spec bumpers but your car is the only one where I actually quite like it. Of all the things that went wrong at Gotham, that hood vent is very cool and came looking great! The whole car looks awesome. It's amazing how much cleaner the engine bay looks now that Jesus cleaned it up and removed all that wiring, it looks much better.

For insurance, try contacting Grundy. I'm sure they have a category you can fit into, plus they have no mileage restrictions: http://www.grundy.com/default2.asp

Best!
Charlie

Edit: May I suggest some 96+ tail lights? I think it's the only thing left to do

I'd second that. Got mine insured through Grundy for $23K stated value. They may do $60K as well, as long as you have tons of documentation, as I'm sure you do. It really depends on the agent you get ahold of on any given day. I've had friends contact them and were given the "we don't insure Mazda's" line, but if you emphasize the rareness of the car (one of only a handful of 3 rotors in the country) and are respectful in your approach, it seems to help (at least it did for me). They'll ask for 4 shots of the car (front, rear and both sides). Again, it can't be your "daily driver" and they do seem pretty forgiving on the "stated" mileage restrictions.

Small update: Had fun yesterday with the car. Took it out with my BMW M3 friend for a little "spirited driving". Holy sh*t! Went to a road where we could let it fly and I must admit, we were squealing like a couple of school girls. Tires break loose at about 30% throttle and it is a wild ride. Neither of us got into it more than 50% throttle and it was all we could handle. Can't imagine what it will be like to punch it full throttle. Way above my skill level.

I need to take my SUV to Orlando today for some work (my local dealer Matheny Imports is unethical) so I am going to follow my wife down in the RX7. This gives me a chance to shake out the car some more so I feel comfortable driving the car to DGRR.

If you're not planning to daily drive the car, try Grundy or American Modern (an affiliate of GEICO).

I have the Rotary Porsche insured through American - great deal and great company to work with.

Congratualtions, you have one of the coolest cars in America. At least to the RX7 crowd.
Tires break loose at 30% throttle? I wouldn't change a thing. Just enjoy it now. I can't see more horsepower raising the level of fun you will have with this car. If it were mine, I'd work on detailing it to showroom perfection. But that's just me.

Well with the release of YouTube HD I was finally able to post my original, uncut, slightly boring, probably annoying, encounter with David and his money pit. This is from 2007 -- wow what 2 years can do to a car...

A ride in the 20b FD

The 20b on the dyno

Promise not to laugh!! Don't tell me you wouldn't be giddy riding in your dream car...

Yes, me too! I would like to compare it to mine andsee if there can besome improvements.
