Excellent news! Thanks for that and Happy New Year. Looking forward to February already!

So I don't have any more new news at the moment but figured I would post a few more pics at least. The variable intake is pretty well rounded off.

So its been a while since posting, but the car has finally been put on the dyno and laid down some prelim numbers.

Did run into stupid issues, alternator decided to stop charging so battery voltage was 12.0v for all the tuning. Definitely hurt spark power.

Fuel pumps were not keeping up with the injectors. Pressure was dropping after 7k

Individual rotor AFR were not the same. I didn't have the EGT's in each one to see it at the time.

Still it did us all very proud and put out 610rwhp@9700 and 365rwtq

Later in the day the highest I took it was 10,800 but the fuel pressure was so low it just killed the power output.

Pretty confident it will do 630-650rwhp once the issues are fixed

So here are two charts overlapping each other. One is with the intake at the longest setting, the other on a shorter setting. I forgot to save the 610rwhp run but you can go see that video actually on our DefinedAutoworks Facebook page.

I would have posted all this earlier, but tragically my Dad passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack two weeks ago. Never had a chance to give him a ride in the 4-rotor, but at least he heard it fire up once. My father was the person directly responsible for me going down the rotary path. One of the few factory trained rotary rebuilders for Mazda. He will be missed!! Ken Carswell 2-21-14

As I said when you posted on FB, congrats. That's a great accomplishment. Can't wait to see what she'll do when everything is all dialed in and you let 'er scream. Out of curiosity, even as it is have you ever gone WOT through a full gear or 2? Sub 2400lbs and 600+whp would be borderline terrifying on the street

Thank you Lenny! I will be going back to the dyno sometime and see what happens and leaving as is. This summer I want to advertise and RACE for once lol. I'll skip the time consuming dyno tweaking for every last ounce of power over the winter.

Sadly I have not even got to feel this yet! Its killing me! The fuel pumps are out of it now and its sitting in the corner on these nice days. Oh well, soon enough I'll get to see what its like. Cant wait.

Damn that sucks about your father Logan. Hope all is well with you and your family.

Now I'm not gonna lie, I'm really liking the power band on the longer runner dyno. Theres quit a bit more power under the curve there for the street. Great job bro. Do you still plan on having them slide on their own or is it just set and forget type of thing? One last thing, I know it's not setup for the strip but, you gotta run it a couple times to see what she traps. I would love to see that on YouTube.

Very sorry to hear about your father Logan. Growing up around Columbus he was definitely known as the rotary guru and I remember his shop in Pataskala.

Congrats on getting the 4 rotor going and the initial numbers. That's a crazy amount of N/A power for a FD.

Thanks T-von much appreciated. Street? Where we are going…. we don't need streets.
But you are correct on the above chart the long setting is beefier. The short setting continues to push a epic curve beyond 10k but that chart didn't get saved.

The intake has always been planned to be continuously variable just like the 787b. I have the servos for operation, the cables are on the car. Only hurdle is building a conversion box to change the electromotive signal (duty cycle) to the servo controller signal (0-5v) Then she will work and the above charts will be one giant torque curve. Hopefully I can get that accomplished soon!!

It's great you guys keep pushing the envelope. When this is complete, what do you think the next project will be? You know it's really hard for us creative fabricators/engineering type people to just sit back on are thoughts.

Hey Logan,

Your web site lists several build and pricing options for 4 rotor engines. Are you planning to do something similar for 3 rotor engines? Just curious. Something similar to Gordon Monson's solution might be appealing to me (360 to 400 RWHP).

Thx
