My most sincere condolences regarding your father Logan. I can't imagine how you must be feeling.

I hope you get through this with a more renewed vigor, building in his memory.

Can't wait to see the graph past 10K with the intakes in slide-mode. Major props for this, it is an epic undertaking. Any father, let alone one who was very active in the rotary community would be extremely proud of this accomplishment. Now get out there and enjoy the fruits of your labour for once!

Do you have a gut feeling about how much might be left on the table after fine-tuning the intake and exhaust?

At least for the next year strictly racing. I really want to hone the ol' driving skills and focus on chassis/ aero setup.

The next step in the 4-rotor progression I would like to cermet coat all the housings, and pick up some more torque. At that point the engine would have every part of tech the 787b had, plus lighter weight and the higher rpm capacity. Granted I don't think the stationary gear design will every be quite as strong, but we will see how it does!

Thx
We will be adding that to the site yes, its a good idea!

It has pumped some new vigor into my system!

Thanks a bunch Trots. He definitely was proud, even though he never really told me, he was good about telling everyone he knew. I heard many stories at the funeral from people I had never met before. It was nice.

Gut feeling is 680ish rwhp is in there maybe even 700rwhp. But might be some time before I visit the real dyno tuning process to do it.

Ironically my goal has always been to just race! But time and time again setbacks happen, tradegy happens, life happens, money runs out, time runs out etc. Or I decide to go to the "next level" for advertisement reasons. This year, is ALL racing. It will be competing in NASA super unlimited mostly. Might de-tune once in a while to race in ST1. Some time trial or time attack if possible, and might even do the texas mile just to see what happens

We need to start a collection fund and get your 4 rotor to the Nurbergring to obliterate some lap records. Or even better, let Too Gear do a story on the world's most powerfull NA 4 rotor.

My most sincerest condolence for your loss Logan. The parents that say the least directly to their own kids are the ones that are the most proud of them. Your accomplishment is certainly worthy of that pride! I hope you continue with much success!

I've been wanting to contact them just to see what they would say. Need to find the right people to talk to, that would truly be an honor! Let the funding begin!!

Excellent result and interesting intake setup. Can you post the dyno plot showing the tcf number?

Just out of curiousity, did you need to change the timing between the different intake lengths to optimize the curve?

Yes we will have a on-board video system with overlay of speed/ g-force/ etc. Have to do it right!

Haven't played with timing at all yet. Its very conservative at the moment. With the fuel going so lean there was no point. The intake length does change the AFR quite a bit at the different torque peaks though. As you could expect.

What can you tell us about the runner-lenghts at shortest and longest?
You use a slide-throttle right?

Really impressive and both function and art in the building.

Very awesome work! Please post some vids of the car in action when racing!

For the conversion of PWM (I go that the PWM is 5v pr 12v and that the voltage remains stable (as in does not change with battery voltage)) to Analog you can just use 2 resistors and a capacitor circuit, its really easy and stable if you have decent tolerance capacitor and resistor, then just use an opamp as buffer on the output, this way the input inpedance of the servo has no influence.

Some updates

So it's been years (crazy right?) Since I've posted anything, but here is a little update. Car has been great, going very fast around the race track and nibbling at the track record for my class. Had to build a restrictor intake to fit into the rules. Only allowed 430rwhp so currently the engine makes 420rwhp basically everywhere. From 6k to over 9k. Pretty fun.

Here is the latest video, showing what it is like to drive it. With a bunch footage "What it's like driving and owning a 4 rotor mazda Rx7"
On youtube

Can't figure out the link, not sure if it works

The latest video was epic. Enjoyed it, especially the camera angles. And no fear driving the ***** off of it on the streets.

Thanks! Aside from the flyby I drove sooooo slow. I just wanted to tear up those roads, but better judgement prevailed. I'm keeping tabs on your latest updates, It is a cool build. Looking forward to the dyno video
