Im the only moron disassembling a running 20b FD lol

Some of the guys asked that I make a build thread. I will consider this a deconstruction thread at first. lol

BACKGROUND: I bought TurboTommy's 20b RX-7 built by JPR. Its the 750 RWHP monster. Its a 9 second monstrocity with Tommy as the driver lol, not me. I took her to the track, learned alot and sheared the output shaft from the transmission to the drive shaft. The best possible catastropic failure as i wasnt that guy dropping transmission fluid on the drag strip.

CURRENT: I want to replace the transmission with one of three options: stock casing with liberty internals, liberty transmission, or t56. weighing my options.

The electrical work on the car is fully operational, but isnt up to my desired level. The engine bay also needs to be repainted. I want the car to be as beautiful as it is powerful.

Ill upload pics next.

some of that wiring is awful, should be ashamed of themselves. Did they show you pics of it before you bought it?

Also, why is there sealant on the LIM to UIM flange? I know it's making alot of boost, but sealant just makes it sloppy, and a pain to clean every time you have to take the UIM off. Machining the surfaces and using a good gasket will seal just fine.

Benny, do not question the image size. It's not like I own an IT company... Lol. I'll fix it when I get to my pc.

I knew the wiring was one of the negatives ahead of time. When I first saw it, I was a little nervous. But the moment we got on the highway, it all disappeared.

I got a hell of alot of car for the price. I have way more money into my 13b and it can't be pushing more than 450 rwhp.

The sealant on the Uim was glued on so tight I had to use the cherry picker to carefully pop it off

Sorry your first outing didn't go as planned Rob. I guess that means your 13b is the fastest Rex in the driveway. Wait, is that one even running?

turblown, i was thinking of going to a gtx4294r as well. this s480 ar 1.3 is too big for my taste. I dont intend to go over 22 PSI so i think both turbos are overkill, but the GTX seems better for me.

I cant get a new turbo until JPR sends me the bin file for the TEC3R. I love tuning but dont want to recreate the map from scratch on an ECU i know little about. lol

GTX4294R with a 1.01 housing would be a nice match, and quite the change from the current turbo. I could make you a package deal if you want to order the turbo with a turbine housing shield. Just PM if you're interested.

You can get the s480 with a 1.10a/r as well. Thats what i have on my first gen.

As for the OP..... When you shear an output shaft you know you are making power. I have broken 3rd gear twice but never an output shaft. Then again i only have 2 rotors Im going the t56 route in the not so distant future. I just wish quicktime would get their **** together and finish their adapter bell housing.

I removed the fiberglass wrap from the turbo manifold and found this crack near the t6 flange. Thoughts on its repair?
