Bummer. I luckily don't have emissions testing in my part of Tennessee. $24 a year for registration and I'm good to go.

i may "tennessee loophole" it and transfer the plate over from my SC300 to the rx7, then get a new plate for the sc300.

Where are you going? Hope everything goes well. I think you'll like the HT-10's in the rear and they should last you forever. I was getting like 25-30 days out of them. DTC 70(or 60) or PFC 01's are also a really good front pad to use with the HT10 rears. Anything more aggressive than that, and you start running into bias issues I've found.

Can't wait to see video's with the new turbo on track and more "don't lift!" moments!

Brent, we are going to Putnam Park in Indiana.

Jacob will be in his FD while I'll be rolling him up in the Rx8.

I B jealous. Not sure if you guys have made your way up there before or not, but I think PP is a blast. Not RA/VIR fun, but a good mid size track that is very fluid, has some good elevation change, technical sections, and fast sections.

Tennessee Valley and alabama region scca is doing a 2 day time trial and pdx at TGPR. April 12-13. Sunday gives you the most track time as people leave around noon to head home

I did TGPR last month and it was pretty fun... but with a track day the week before, and DGRR two weeks after, I don't think I/we'll do that one.

brent, i am running Carbotech XP10 for the front pads, and the Hawk HT-10s in the rear. i was running these at RA last time (and HT-10 all around at the previous RA trip) and they worked well.

honestly, the XP10s feel only SLIGHTLY more aggressive and the HT-10s on the track (front pads) if at all, but the Carbotechs seem to have "friendlier" dust, and they didn't eat into the rotors quite as badly as the HT-10s.

i wanted to try out the PF01s, but i couldnt find any retailers who sold the damn things, much less had them in stock. as for pads in general, i am not at the point where i can even notice a different between brands and their different traits, but i can at least notice a difference in the aggressiveness of the pad (like an HP+ vs a DTC-60 for example). it is fun getting into this and getting a real "feel" for the car. now i just need to keep the car long enough to do 5-10+ tack days and figure out what the hell i'm doing

we have a few very experienced friends who are going to be at Putnam (old friends from Louisville) so i will make sure i get one of them to ride along and give me some good instruction.
i'll be a lot more confident with the car now, as #1 this track isn't nearly as "high stakes" as road atlanta, and #2 i have 1.5" more tire at all 4 corners to match my power/tq level better. i am excited.

just saw your whole project, surprising

subcribo me, this might be the turbo kit to mount on my FD since ITV go with dual turbo watesgate and above, I see impossible.
However this turbo kit, is short, and very good! Benefits!

I will continue enjoying your project!

If your using street tires, pfc 01 may be a bit too aggressive and cause lockup too easily. They bite so damn hard that its counter effective with street tires imo.

I had to do an emergency brake change at the track when I wore out my 01's and installed basic hawk hps or hp+.. Cant remember. To my surprise i was able to brake later and deeper into the turns. This is with the m2 ap racing bbk.

So with that said, carbotech xp12/10 is a good combo for street tires.

thanks for the input, armen.

i am runnin 265 RE11s, which should be substantially more gripping than the previous 225 RS3s i was running... you could be right --i didnt really think about overpowering my tires. i am guessing the 265s will have a lot more grip, at least.

I'm running 265/35/18 Direzza Zii's up front btw.

Forgot to mention his, but great build. Its because of this thread that I really am considering going with an EFR in the future for that sweet response. Post more track vids are they come along.

armen, you maxed out your ZIIs with PF01s? i think the XP10s are a notch down in aggressiveness (XP-12 would be comparable to PF01?)

also, thanks. this turbo is amazing so far. i think the biggest contributor for the good response is the super lightweight gammaTi turbine wheel. and the IWG makes everything super simple. i highly recommend it.

had a turbine heat shield made today by my fabricator buddy. very nice and solid, and doesnt interfere with me LIM shield

i should have an update with a nice inconel shield from Turbosource sometime soon. i purchased a 12x12 sheet to make my own LIM shield to replace the gold foiled aluminum one.

Its the crazy bite of the 01's that overworks the tires and abs. So modulation is harder to control especially during twitchy brake zones. Its like all or nothing type thing. The carbotechs xp-12s are comparable to the 01's heat threshold wise but def have less bite. The xp's do squeal a lot more tho lol. When the pfc 03's came out, the bite was actually reduced to improve the pads. Overall Im being super picky here, any decent pad should work out for you. Carbotech, pfc, porterfield are my top choices.

i made it to the track day and back without any issues.

unfortunately, i didn't have the SD card in my camera, so every time i hit the record button the camera didn't record.

here's a video of my good buddy's RX8 who was behind me for a few laps. we had some traffic, but it is good:
