Thanks for the compliments guys, it's been a long haul on this project since I lost an apex seal a little over 4 years ago. I decided that I wasn't doing anymore work on the car until I had the money to do everything that I wanted to do (Under the hood anyway). I saved for a little over 3 years before I even started buying parts. Once I had parts on the way, I started tearing it down and began mocking up the engine bay with the new oil coolers, turbo, FMIC, etc. Once I had the majority of the fabrication done, I sent the car to my buddy's paint shop, and then I began polishing everything that I hadn't already polished. So, Long story short, mymmeryloss, I did all of the polishing myself, but I had a lot of time to do it. If you want polished parts, I recommend spending some time, and money at someplace like Eastwood.com. They have lots of information, tutorials, and products that can greatly simplify the process. I'm sure there are other websites out there, but I haven't found any with the selection that they have. I would also recommend that you pick up a "Beast" of a polisher somewhere, and don't be cheap because it will pay for itself in no time. If you have 220vac in your garage, definitely buy one that is 220vac. Craigslist or eBay might be your best bet there. Just like your car, the more HP you have, the quicker you'll get it done.

I don't know which wheels I want just yet. I haven't really put much thought into it since I'm pretty much broke now. All I know at this point is that I want them to be black. Between my upcoming vacation in December, and still needing to have the car tuned (hopefully by Steve Kan) in the spring, I'm pretty certain I'll be sporting the same old pair of shoes for at least another year or two.

My new toy arrived in the mail today. Now I'll be logging Fuel pressure, Front & Rear EGTs, Water/Meth injection pressure, & AFR from the AEM Uego. I've been waiting on this so that I can see my fuel pressure while in the car and verify that my SARD fuel pressure regulator is setup & working correctly. I had planned on spending this money on an FJO Low impedance injector driver to eliminate all of the damn resistors, but they are apparently on back order until "some time next year" according to everywhere I try to order it from.

I took a little detour away from the car tonight since I'm still waiting on a few fittings to arrive so that I can finish installing my new fuel pressure gauge.

I know this is off-topic, but I thought you all might be interested to see the finished results of a project I started a little over a year and a half ago. I got tired of the plain old plastic/chromed tower for my beer faucet so I decided to fabricate something a little more attractive. It could use some more polishing, but I didn't want to put too much effort into the polish just yet since I'm not sure how the finish is going to hold up to beer being splattered on it. I may have to put a clear over the polish later on.

I finally received my fittings that I've been waiting on so I finished up my AEM fuel pressure gauge installation and fabbed up a new bracket for the regulator.

Tomorrow I will weld on some bungs for the other fittings as well as the mounting brackets and then polish it up. Oh yeah, I still need to install a baffle & some sort of stainless, steel wool type of material to help with the separation of the oil from the airflow & the condensation. This is my first catch tank so if anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to let me know. I am still a little unsure on some of the details of how to make this work properly at this point.

I'm doing the "Daimen" catch tank install myself with a -10AN fitting off my oil filler neck to the catch tank, then the return runs a -10AN hose to the rear turbo oil drain in the rear iron.

Here's a little bit of something else I've been working on. This is the board layout for a circuit I've been designing to integrate the S2000 start push button into the FD so that it is truly a push button start and doesn't require the key. This will allow you to have security so that someone can't just break your window, push the button, and drive away in your car. I have designed it to work in conjunction with a security system that has a starter kill option installed. After disarming the security system and unlocking the doors using your key fob, you will have X amount of time to start the car otherwise it will disable the button. This is the simplest solution I have been able to come up with without it getting too complicated. I may expand on it later and add more features, but for now, I feel this is complex enough for a first attempt. Once I have the bugs worked out, I may look to have the boards professionally etched so that I can sell this as a kit if people are interested.

I just got an email saying I have to go back to work in the next few days, maybe I can get this finalized while I'm out of town.

That sounds like a cool idea, but there are already some cost-effective aftermarket RFID-style alarm systems out there that utilize a starter button: http://www.advancedkeys.com/products.htm

I'm looking at getting one of those because it's truly hands free. It uses an RFID key fob so as you walk up to the car, doors unlock and system disarms. Push in the clutch and push the starter button and off you go. As you walk away, the doors lock and the system arms so someone can't just break into the window and push the starter button, without having the key fob at least.

The only hangup in the steering column lock, because without a key in the ignition, you only get a few degrees of steering wheel movement before it locks up. I think I have a solution to that, however, and shouldn't be a big deal.

I was looking at the Advanced Keys system yesterday and would love to go that route. The only problems I have with it is the cost and the size of the key fob for that system. There's another company that makes them called Ididit and their key fob is much smaller, and looks cool, but their system doesn't have as many features and is much more expensive. In the end, I will probably go with the Advanced Keys system but I just can't justify the cost for it right now.

We had a really nice day outside today so I got the car out of the garage and washed it again. Then I took it for a spin around the neighborhood for several hours while working on my base map. I have been keeping it in vacuum, and I must say that I can't wait to see how it will run once I start making some boost. I'm really happy with the rebuild that Pineapple Racing did so far. The only problem is that I can't really get it out anywhere that I have enough room to get into boost, because I don't have any current tags on the car. Between the time that I started this build and now, our county has decided to implement emissions, even though our area already exceeds the current EPA standards. I'm not sure how I'm going to make it legal since I haven't had any emissions equipment on this car for almost 6 years now.

ugh u can tig......... i love the idea with the heat gun/vac to redo your gauge cluster... sneaky!

I'm no expert by any means when it comes to tig welding, but I can get by ok. I actually bought my tig welder because I needed an intercooler duct for my old PFS SMIC. That was a fun project but I sold the intercooler and duct quite a while back.

It's kind of dusty in these pics here but you get the idea. I saw it on someone's car in some pictures the other day but I don't remember if it was the person I sold it to or if he sold it to someone else.

Why not go with a RFID thing? So if the key fob is within range you can start the car, if it's not, you can't.

great build, reading over this thread brings back memories of taking metal shop during in HS.

I probably will end up doing that just to be done with it. There are some fairly inexpensive alternatives out there, and I've lost interest (at least for the time being) in finishing up this board. Every time I step away from it for a week or two, it takes too much time to figure out where I left off, and I keep changing my mind about how I want to do it.

I really like this build. Through my years of metalworking and fabrication, you works stands out. I can't wait to free up my schedule to start my next build. You build storm me with loads of ideas. I'll probably end up making my own lines of product to accommodate rotary engines.
